Lu Ze transmigrated to the interstellar era two thousand years later. The previous owner of this body had lovey-dovey parents and a cute little sister. Although his cultivation talent was ordinary, his life was fulfilling. It could be said to be a dream start. Lu Ze was very happy.

However, as soon as he slept, he came to a strange dimension. He almost got taken out trying to fight an one meter tall huge white rabbit. After making the arduous kill, Lu Ze found that things didn’t seem to be so simple.

After killing prey in this dimension, he could get little orbs that could be used for cultivation. This was going to make him an eternal jungler. But he seemed to be able to hope for domination of the cosmos and invincibility? Collapse

    This is not cool.

I can't stomach how much abuse the MC had to bear from his own people, i skimmed and read some spoilers ahead and apparently MC will continue being bullied by his sister, parents, lovers and friends. This novel disgust me. This novel is basically masochism masked by lighthearted comedy.

MC is very meek and quite pitiful. If you hate those harem anime shows with excessively violent Tsundere and Yandere girls torturing the MC and making his life miserable, then you might want to skip this one. Abusing the MC and making him suffer is basically the running gag of the novel.

    NOT RECOMMENDED ❌

I read some other book where this mc comes into contact with the other mc after the end of this book and near the end of the other. Anyone know which one?

It has been a long time since I bothered reading this novel so it wouldn't really make sense to post a review now but I accidentally clicked on this and the positive reviews are shocking. I want to start off by saying this novel isn't the gold a lot of people claim it to be, it's possibly one of the most disappointing novels I have ever read past 100 chaps.

If you don't mind reading what I just described, more power to you, but calling this even an amazing read is an actual insult to novels with a good story, interesting world, power system that isn't a disappointment, and characters that you can genuinely enjoy.

How am I off the mark if your only rebuttal is the harem part...

As for the harem itself, I haven't read till the end so I'll have to take your word on that but even so I never said they aren't on his side. It just seems like they're always trying to find ways to humiliate him and take advantage of him to the point it actually gets petty asf, despite the author hinting that they're actually crazy in love with him. The character switch makes no sense but it's whatever ig.

Absolutely wrong. i get that people have different tastes, but well written is well written. For example, I don't like "peerless martial god" or "martial god asura" because of the brainless trouble magnet MCs, but I recognize the author can at least write a story better than most others.

This is a very fun novel, with a very nice kid MC. it has the flavor of a japanese isekai anime kid who has all the fortune. He gets a harem, they adventure together and the world building is decent and not at all dark. I really liked it, I've read it twice over the years.

Once again my problem isn't with you liking the novel, like you said everyone got their tastes but let's not pretend this is some well written shit alright? The only aspect of this story I can consider well written is the world building but that's only because I'm a sucker for interstellar themes. The protagonist, the side characters, their interactions, the dialogue, the power scaling, the power system itself, the fight scenes, the cultivation process, the antagonists, all of these are mid at best and cancer on average.

I get that a lot of things in this novel are supposed to be a gag, but gags are meant to be occasional (and funny). If every interaction between characters is a gag, the story gets frustrating to read. My guy, him being a kid MC is the problem. This guy is a teen at the start and becomes a grown ass man later, there's no reason for him to act like the dumbass he is throughout. Idk what point you were trying to make comparing it to Japanese isekai slop, since when were they considered good writing?

It is well written. It may not be to your tastes, but nearly everyone posting was saying they liked the novel. Even reddit posts about people wanting to read something similar.

I rather liked the innocent, good natured Lu Ze. The dumb jock type that couldn't get his license to drive, lol. A genius of martial arts but not much else. Kinda reminds me of Goku or Piccolo in the old anime.

This novel is more polished than another of the author's works I've read "my genes evolve limitlessly" or something like that. Pocket Hunting is a more polished version though it seems it was written first. The second novel was too short and seemed rushed halfway through.

System novels are almost always plain bad. They are for lazy authors and typically lack focus on the plot. Pocket Hunting is among the best I've read, next to The Legendary Mechanic of course. "Spare Me Great Lord" was similar for a few hundred chapters, but then lost it and the last half sucked. Korean level up stuff isn't as good - Reincarnation of the Strongest Sword God, the Great Thief, et. The Tutorial is too Hard is a hair above them, but not as good as PHD. Monroe and Chrysalis you may like, I did.

Recommend me a couple that are decent, if you will.

Likeability is a completely different thing, I made that very clear from the start. That being said I'll never bring myself to call this well written, especially if you consider Peerless Martial God or Martial God Asura well written. Being able to write a better story that most is a low bar seeing how most people in the world aren't authors.
I'm far from an author but even I can point how the novel could have been good. If only the MC wasn't a complete moron, the PHD better though out, the fights were more interesting, his relationships weren't so toxic, the MC wasn't so damn whipped, and the dialogue wasn't so cringe, it could have been so much better and this is only scraping the surface.

Once again, it's ok if you like this type of character but I can't bring myself to call him well written. He's overly simplistic and his only drive is to eat food. His most prominent response to anything unfair that happens to him is mild annoyance and sometimes surprise, and his most prominent response to anything good that happens to him is "ok".

How do you find system novels lazy but you don't share the sentiment for PHD? Atleast systems have quests and the like, PHD was so rinse and repeat, I almost always skipped the actual pocket hunting sections. Lu Ze would go, kill till he died, and come back with orbs. The fight descriptions were boring and there were absolutely no stakes since the worst that would happen was that he would wake up.

Recommend me a couple that are decent, if you will.

Sure thing: Dimensional Descent, The Damned Demon, Warlock of the Magus World, Supremacy Games, The Primal Hunter, Martial World, Reverend Insanity, Solo Leveling.
Some of these start slow and do have some of the problems I've mentioned above but definitely not all of them at once and on the same scale.

I've read RI, Solo Leveling, Primal Hunter, SG in whole or part.
Martial World? I wouldn't call it a system novel, that's like a classical xuanhuan. Read it, love it. True Martial World about another of the pieces of his cheat wasn't very good, I ended up dropping it.

It's been a hot minute since I logged on. Great to see you've already read a few of these, but I would take back what I said about The Damned Demon, it can be enjoyable, but in retrospect, it's far from well written.
I also agree with your take on TMW. It's strange that despite sharing so many tastes, we have polar opposite views on PHD. Life is strange.

It's been a while since I left that comment, and since I never ended up finishing any of them, I can't give a accurate overall analysis of the stories, but I thought most of these were pretty well written up to the points I'd read them.

Dimensional Descent starts off too strong, dumping a shit ton of info on your about the world, and the romance is a genuine tragedy, but apart from that I respect the amount of detail, world building, and creativity the author brought.

The Damned Demon was a piece of shit in retrospect. Typical fantasy reincarnation, harem building bullshit. Protagonist isn't a useless bitch at least ig.

Warlock of the Magus World was some good old fantasy, with some grit and a protagonist who's willing to do unscrupulous things to succeed, but his AI chip does do a lot of the heavy lifting.

Supremacy Games starts slow, but gets interesting pretty quickly, and the way the author uses a combination of multiple power systems for the protagonist was impressive, and none of the arcs bored me to death.

The Primal Hunter and Solo Leveling are both in the same boat of fun, simple story with fantasy elements, adventure, power ups, and great fights, but I wouldn't call them well-written or very creative. Plus Seong Jin-Woo is a bit dull.

Reverend Insanity was a blast, where the protagonist is a clever, manipulative bastard with no moral standards holding him back. Imo the best written on this list, especially with how he generally has no plot armor to save his ass, but I didn't enjoy the bleak tone too much so I dropped it somewhere past 150 chaps.

That's kinda how I stand on these recommendations now, but in any case, I think even the worst of them is leagues above PHD in every department.

Perhaps try The First Order? System novel, but the system is very much secondary to the plot and past the first arc or two where MC power's up to a relevant level, it isn't too relevant, to the point that there's one or two arcs where the MC doesn't get a single powerup. And past arc 1, all powerups are pretty minor, and more adding to his toolkit and a numerical upgrade for the most part. It's by the author of "Spare Me Great Lord", but there's basically zero nationalism unlike that one. The plot is absolutely the focus of the novel, far beyond almost all novels in the genre- seriously recommend it.

The secret on why we even have BETA mcs is so we can make mc super OP without breaking the power balance of the story setting showing hes godlike but he just doesnt blow up all his enemiea and the world cuz hes a pussy. As well as to increase romance screen time without responsibility safely.

What all this means is so in Japan they can add more wishfullfillment criteria on mc and opportunity to sell more props abd figurines, from weapons, transformations, girls, while keeping up young boyz fantasies. Thinking if they are in mcs shoes theyd be super stronk and pimpin and do thangz diffrentlee.
