When Simon dies, it turns out there's more to combat than lightning reflexes with his controller, and the path to becoming a hero is more brutal than he can imagine as he descends into The Pit. Death after Death is a dark, time loop, Isesaki story with roguelike elements, that explores some of the common tropes in a different light.

The story itself is interesting at first. I especially liked the character development and an interesting implementation of magic. However, there is a thing called "suspension of disbelief", which the author does not seem to respect. For example,
Those experiences didn't change him much (more like a minor setback, huh)!
    And in the
arc his character development also goes down. Yeah...
In conclusion, it was entertaining at first but got annoying and boring around 200 chapters in.

    I rate it 3/5.

    My fellow reader,

There are stories of heroes who walk forward once and never look back. And then there are stories like Death After Death; where the path is not a road, but a spiral into the abyss.

A rogue like tale I suppose. It is a dungeon of rising floors and tightening air with each ascent a wager. And with each death a lesson in despair

He climbs and he falls, awakening again at the beginning with memories intact, hope fractured but unextinguished.

Be warned, this is no gentle fable but rather the corridors which drips with iron and ash; Mercy is a rarity. Pain its tutor that does not soften its hand.

It is grim-dark not for spectacle, but for honesty for the truth that growth often walks hand in hand with ruin.

To read it is to descend willingly into shadow,
to witness a soul hammered against the anvil of repetition, until even fate begins to tremble.

    Warning!!
Patience must exercise at the beginning for that wine only tastes better with time.

This is the best novel I’ve ever encountered as far as believable and engaging character development goes. Most MCs either naturally have the right mindset and personality to succeed from the start or the author makes them into such whiny bitches that I still hate them even if they change. This author has managed to develop his character in a way that he may start pathetic at first, but you really respect and root for him later on. My one warning is that due to the nature of the story, MC will spend a lot of time going off track and discovering new things including building relationships. When I read this on royal road some people did get mad about that, thinking this would be a quick speedrun type novel, so know what you’re getting into.
