The Holy Empire is in decline.

Religious and cultural schisms wreak havoc on its internal politics, while revolutions are brewing in neighboring kingdoms. The aristocratic houses play endless power games amongst themselves, and the Emperor desperately abuses what little influence he has left to keep his rivals down.

Amidst all of this, Arnold von Hohenfels, first son of the Margrave of Hohenfels, finds himself in the unfortunate position of having to attend the Imperial Academy, a notorious battleground of wits and brawn for ambitious young nobles.

Armed with a magical gift that is as much a blessing as it is a curse, he must learn to navigate the treacherous waters of aristocratic entanglements. In the name of his family’s ambition, he must represent House Hohenfels' interests in this microcosm of Imperial politics, deal with his formidable enemies, form alliances of his own, and somehow keep his brash cousin Friedrich out of trouble.

Frankly, he would much rather be anywhere else.

***

– Focus on aristocratic politics

Well, 90% of this is scheming and machinations, with the other 10 being some occasional fights, a little bit of magic and some other actions, useless to the plot. Overall, every lover of endless schemes and mind warfares would find it difficult to stop reading, but as for me, this novel really lacks action to balance out the scheming.

Aight dropping it off at 15 due to many reasons first and foremost its because of main character's personality i do not mind a flawed character but i mind a character who learns nothing, secondly the irritating katherine. Its clearly forced development and unnecessary except for plot progression which should've been more underlying. Third main character folding literally under no pressure. He has both moral high ground and social high ground in every scenario but he still succumbs to pointless frivolities. For f#cks sake one is a heir to soon to be a dukedom other is a nearly dying count family. Author did mention it will be slow burn but slow burn doesn't mean it will have to be painful to read. Insufferable characters. Every single one of em.

Could some kind soul tell me if it is possible to fix a bug that is occurring in my browser. The bug is basically, the browser is scrambling my pages, I have about 1300 pages open, and since there are pages that I avoid opening so as not to update them, when I shuffle them I lose a lot of content, if anyone can help me I would be grateful

      What browser are you using?

If it's Firefox (Desktop) I recommend something like OneTab that can store the entire list of all open tabs into one tab. (so you can Ctrl F through them). OneTab also has timestamps of when you stored the tab, and choices on which tabs to store.

Otherwise, use something like bookmarks or that reading list thing to hold them

Not really related to this novel but the other comments made me curious. I want to get your take on royalroad originals.

Am I the only one w/ the problem with them? To me they feel kind of watered down commercialized crap.

Like MC in the synopsis of this it make this grandiose but flat declaration that the MC must do X, Y and Z. The number of times i heard that and its turns out its just the same old bull they sell.

Or here's a cute cat or someother adorbs mascot, so you must read this.

    That kind of thing?

Though for the novel itself The synopsis I think started good but kind of gotten longwinded with the fluff. If I did not know this is a RR original i probabbly read it. But now I have too much trauma that I dont want to now

Yeah it's not just you bro. I've stopped bothering to read new rr works. Just sticking to the og's that I've gotten invested in. The issue is that authors there begin a book with the mindset of publishing on amazon so it just makes the novels tedious to read or enjoy

This is the first I'm hearing this term, I'm assuming 'Royal Road Original' is not just a novel being published over at RR, because I know plenty of great novels that are there.
