I ended up transmigrating as a third-rate extra in a game I like, but worst of all this character has already fallen and been disowned.

I have no ambitions. I just want to graduate, but the world won’t let me. Collapse

The only thing left unfinished is his relationships with girls.

Yep, didn't like how this was left hanging either.
Anyway I was rooting for Lucy, but harem ending with all three (four?) girls would be good too satisfied

    Total lack of originality.
Sorry "How to Survive at the Academy", but you will take for the others. 14

If this is your first time reading a Korean Isekai, then congratulations, you might like this story. However, choose your first Korean Isekai carefully, because once you have read one, you will notice that all the others are identical.

Be careful, when I say "identical" I don't mean some similarity like in Japanese Isekai. I mean Identical with a capital I.

I snicker when I see people complaining about Japanese isekai, loudly proclaiming how unoriginal they are, how lacking in novelty they are. To this person I respond:

"Have you ever seen a Korean isekai before complaining?!" 31

Although Japanese isekai have some similarities, at least the plots and cheats are different. Every Japanese isekai, whether you like them or not, has a little bit of originality. But Korean isekai? Once you've read one, it's like you've read 90% of the others. And I'm being nice. Out of the dozens of Korean isekai I've read, only two have any originality. whoknows

Simple, dear veterans, when I say "Korean Isekai" what comes to mind? Let me help you :

1.MC : Reincarnated as a mob or a villain, has an unbalanced strength (weak most of the time and strong only under certain conditions), creates misunderstandings, wants to stay away but can't, knows the intrigue of the world, attracts heroines to him...

2.Intrigue : Go to an academy, go to the world of a novel or a game, fight dungeons, evil sects or demons, the power of the world is a system of skills, mana or aura, ...

I'm sure I forgot some, but for those new to this, know that what I just listed is what you will find in 90% of Korean isekai. reader

So yes, "How to Survive at the Academy" is not a bad novel if you are reading a Korean isekai for the first time, but if you are a regular, know that apart from the "survival in the wild" side, everything else is identical to other Korean isekai. eyetwit

Next time I come across another similar Korean isekai, I'll just write "No imagination, move on". Any longer would be a waste of time. sigh

I feel like you just mentioned plot points that are just normal for Korean novels, not to mention that what you speak of is very typical to find in most novels. It's just become a norm for every novel to have cliches, no novel can truly be original, though tbh I think most people read for the development of the novel not rlly for its starting plot, more often than not the development of novels are what's actually interesting not so much of the other stuff. I think that most of the Korean authors like to have some reference for their world background so they usually choose similar world systems and stuff like gates. It's the same thing with Japanese novels where they always isekai into a medieval world commonly and there is always adventurers and stuff. It's just easier for most writers to have some basis to rely on when writing a novel, it's honestly much more difficult to simply create a whole new power system and world background so they just reuse stuff from other novels, it's just how it works

I understand what you mean, however the problem I'm complaining about is that Korean authors don't bring anything new to their work. sigh

For example, even if the worlds in Japanese Isekai are similar, Japanese authors add a little something extra to make it stand out from the others. It can be an original cheat, a reincarnation in an original form, an original magic system, ... But the problem with Korean Isekai is that there is no little something extra in their book, at least very little. reader

The "plot points that are completely normal in Korean novels" constitute ALL the content of their plot, and that's the problem. forwhat

Same for the development of Korean Isekai, they almost all follow the same path: "A MC is reincarnated in the world of a game or a novel as a mob, villain or teacher, the MC will be powerful but with big weaknesses that he must hide from others, he will enter an academy where he will try not to participate in the plot, but he will fail with clumsiness. He will create multiple misunderstandings around him and will be drawn into dangerous situations against his will. The heroines will all abandon the protagonist of the game or novel to make a harem around the mysterious MC. The MC will face evil sects, terrorists, corrupt nobles and demons. " And there I just spoiled the plot of almost all Korean Isekai. kiaa

So yes I can understand that an author is inspired by another story, but there is a difference between being inspired by a story and copying a story. wiseacre

Well many people read novels and judge it by what they actually want to read. You judge a novel by its plot and I judge it based on the interaction between characters. On that case all Japanese novels are same a dense, naive MC. I feel super frustrated about that kind of MC. And Japanese novels are full of those. And I feel like they are way too submissive. Even though they have power they don’t use any of that.

So my point being people grade novel based on their preferences like character development, world building, plot originality etc

I see, I completely agree, the relationships between characters in Japanese novels are their major weakness. Very often they're even unrealistic.

Ah, the path to enlightenment is fraught with obstacles, yet this tome is a trial unto itself. Its essence is fractured, chapters lost to the void, and words twisted beyond recognition. To decipher its meaning is to cultivate one's patience and perseverance, a true test of the Dao.
Case and Point, the translation is trash, go read the MTL, it's better than this sh*tshow.
And also, midway through there is a chapter with the literal exact AI response.
It would be better if they didn't even try translating rather than whatever pathetic attempt this is.

It's good, it's good to pass the time and the only bad thing is that the translation has been stopped 🥲 gloom

it's a mobile only app, it does have free chapters, but they mostly have chapters that you have to use coins on.

Although this novel isn't on the app yet, still waiting for the novel to be added on there.
