Chapter 53: “This Is Slander!”

It was simply too stupid. They had actually sent monsters only suited for scouting to capture Vivian.

How many years of brain damage would it take to come up with something like that?

Faced with Aaron’s accusation, Connor’s mentality also started collapsing a little.

Did he not know those monsters were reconnaissance-type monsters?

“Of course I knew those monsters were scouting monsters, but can this situation really be blamed on me?”

“Who the hell knows what kind of madness those enforcement officers in Silvermoon City suddenly got into!”

“They suddenly mobilized in full force and kept staring at my people.”

As he spoke, Connor also felt aggrieved. “Originally, I was planning to have my subordinates make a move, but they were arrested the moment they prepared to act.”

“That’s why I had no choice but to use those monsters to investigate the situation.”

Connor took a deep breath before continuing, “And from beginning to end, I never intended to confront her head-on. My plan was to make a move after she fell asleep.”

“But who could have expected that the Holy Water she got from that lousy church would ruin our entire plan.”

Through the perspective of the Infiltrator, Connor naturally knew what had happened at the time.

The more he thought about it, the more frustrated he felt. The Infiltrator he had sent out had hidden perfectly.

And Vivian had not discovered it at all.

He originally thought the plan was about to succeed, but who could have imagined it would just so happen to be splashed by the Holy Water Vivian threw over, causing it to be exposed.

“That damned priest, I definitely won’t let him off.”

Connor spoke viciously.

As for whether Connor would spare the priest or not, Aaron did not care in the slightest.

At this moment, his attention was focused on another matter Connor had just mentioned.

“So what exactly is going on with the enforcement officers of Silvermoon City?”

“Could it be that you exposed something and got targeted by them?”

The question Aaron asked was also the thing Connor found most puzzling.

Every transaction he conducted had been carried out extremely carefully to avoid the eyes and ears of the enforcement officers.

There was absolutely no way he should have been discovered.

“I also don’t know what exactly happened.”

“Although the people selling Sacred Artifacts were being watched, the enforcement officers still didn’t make a move.”

How could Connor fail to see what the enforcement officers were thinking?

It was obvious they wanted to follow the trail and uncover him through those people, but that was impossible.

First of all, those people did not know his identity at all. They only knew that a mysterious individual was supplying them through various methods.

And even when delivering goods, he never sent his own people.

Instead, he used the lowest classes in Silvermoon City—beggars, goblins, dwarves, beastmen, and the like—to pass the goods along.

Moreover, these people never had any direct contact with him. They simply picked up the goods at designated locations before delivering them to those black-robed figures.

This entire method could practically be called flawless.

“And to prevent any accidents, I haven’t conducted a single transaction during this period of time.”

“So how exactly was I exposed?”

Connor truly could not understand it.

After hearing Connor’s explanation, Aaron also developed a headache.

In short, the situation had already become extremely troublesome.

Not only had problems appeared on the enforcement officers’ side, but the few monsters that had been killed could also become a massive hidden danger.

“Do you realize your actions completely disrupted our plans?”

“There’s even a chance the matter involving the monsters could be exposed because of this.”

“If my years of planning are destroyed because of this incident, you know the consequences.” As he spoke, Aaron’s gaze toward Connor became sinister.

This caused Connor to instinctively shrink his neck.

“Don’t worry, there’s absolutely no way they’ll discover anything.”

“The moment the monsters were destroyed, I severed the connection. They can’t possibly trace me through that clue.”

Only after hearing this did Aaron feel slightly relieved.

“In any case, behave yourself during this period. Don’t cause any more trouble.”

Aaron was already extremely dissatisfied with cooperating with these young masters.

Every single one of them had inflated egos and little actual ability. If not for the influence behind him that Aaron wanted to make use of, he would have long since slapped this useless trash to death.

Taking a deep breath, Aaron calmed his emotions.

“You stay here properly. Without my permission, you are not allowed to leave this place!”

“I’m going outside to gather information.”

Naturally, Connor had no objections to Aaron’s proposal.

However, as he watched Aaron leave, an unusual glint flashed through his eyes.

......

Meanwhile, on Vivian and Lilith’s side.

Both of them were fully occupied dealing with the people from the apartment building.

“This matter has absolutely nothing to do with us. Your security was clearly inadequate.”

Facing the group from the apartment building, Lilith was arguing her case with reason.

“Poor security is indeed our problem, but that still doesn’t give you the right to blow up the apartment building.”

The one speaking was a pot-bellied middle-aged man wearing expensive gold jewelry, giving off the appearance of a nouveau riche.

Behind him stood a uniform row of apartment security personnel.

Peter Field, the owner of the apartment building.

His gaze swept across Vivian and Lilith without leaving any traces, greed flashing within his eyes. “Besides, neither of you were injured, were you?”

“We were acting in self-defense!” Vivian interrupted.

“The fact that you weren’t injured is true, and the fact that our apartment building was blown up by you is also true.”

“You claim monsters entered the apartment building, so why did none of the guests notice them? Why did none of our security personnel notice them?”

Peter paused before continuing, “I have reason to suspect these monster corpses were planted here by you in advance.”

“So you could use them as justification for blowing up the apartment building.”

“You clearly planned this from the beginning.”

“You’re talking nonsense!” Lilith stepped forward and glared viciously at the disgusting man. “And why would we blow up the apartment building? What benefit would that bring us?!”

“Who knows? Maybe you just wanted to hear the explosion.”

Hearing Peter’s shameless sophistry, even Vivian became so angry that her chest rose and fell violently.

Just wanted to hear the explosion?

Did he even hear the nonsense he was saying?!

Vivian had seen shameless people before, but she had never seen anyone this shameless!

It was clearly a problem with his apartment building, yet he still wanted to shift the blame onto them!

“How can you be this shameless!” Before Vivian could speak, Lilith, who had already been angered to the limit, pointed at him with trembling fingers.

It was obvious she was just as furious as Vivian.

Lilith’s words clearly had no lethality whatsoever against Peter. “And even if this matter gets brought before the enforcement officers, you’ll still be the ones at fault.”

“So right now, you only have two choices.”

“The first option is to compensate us with one hundred thousand gold coins.”

“As for the second option...” Peter looked at the two girls with completely undisguised intent. “You follow me for one year.”
