Chapter 54: They’re Bullying You Because You’re Intellectuals!

The two of them looked at Peter with disgust after he finally revealed his true intentions.

Lilith automatically ignored the second condition.

So Lilith began discussing compensation.

“Ten thousand gold coins is enough to buy your entire apartment building! Why don’t you just rob us instead?”

“What do you think I’m doing right now?” Peter shrugged indifferently.

And right at that moment, footsteps came from the distance, making Lilith overjoyed.

The Enforcement Officers had finally arrived late.

Lilith subconsciously turned to look at Vivian.

“Officer Vivian, the Enforcement Officers are here. They’ll definitely help us get justice!”

Vivian said nothing in response and merely watched quietly.

Not long after, under everyone’s gaze, five or six Enforcement Officers rushed in.

“What exactly happened here?”

Upon hearing this, Peter immediately went up to them and began explaining the situation.

Only, everything he said completely twisted black and white.

Lilith immediately lost it.

“You’re lying!”

“Your promised security measures failed, which allowed a monster to sneak into our room! We were forced to defend ourselves!”

But before Lilith could continue, the lead Enforcement Officer raised a hand to stop her.

“You have the right to remain silent, but everything you say may be used as evidence in court.”

So as Peter continued shamelessly twisting the truth, Lilith became increasingly anxious.

She looked toward Vivian for help, as if asking her to think of a solution.

However, Vivian calmly waved her hand, signaling her to stay calm.

And so, after waiting for a while—

The lead Enforcement Officer finished his questioning and turned his gaze toward the two girls.

“We already have a general understanding of the situation here. The problem lies with the two of you.”

“And now there’s even a monster corpse involved. Where did you get it from?”

“I seriously suspect that you two are connected to certain Cultists.”

“We’re not! He’s clearly framing us!” Lilith felt more wronged than she ever had in her entire life.

But obviously, the Enforcement Officer had no interest in listening to Lilith’s explanation and instead asked a question.

“You claim that Boss Peter framed you. Then where’s your evidence?”

“You cannot provide any evidence. That means you are slandering Boss Peter.”

As he spoke, the Enforcement Officer continued.

“And even if we take a step back, why would Boss Peter frame you? Why wouldn’t he frame someone else instead?”

“Even if what you said is true, and a monster really did sneak in due to poor apartment security, why did it target you specifically instead of someone else? Have you ever considered your own problems?”

“Even if there really was a monster, setting aside the facts for the moment, weren’t you wrong for blowing up the apartment? Didn’t you know there were other ways to deal with a monster?”

“Didn’t you know you could have contacted the apartment security staff to handle the matter? Why did you insist on dealing with it yourselves?”

“You were clearly at fault first. You can’t blame others for this!”

After hearing the Enforcement Officer’s words, Lilith pointed at him yet couldn’t say a single sentence for a long time.

“Y-You people!!”

Not just Lilith—even Vivian felt terrible all over.

What kind of logic was this?

In the end, it somehow became their fault instead?

How could there be such horrible people in this world?

Previously, Vivian had only heard that cities contained many bad people.

But she had never truly understood what that meant.

Now that she saw this scene firsthand, Vivian finally understood just how vile these people could be!

Damn it, this was too disgusting.

She was trembling with anger!

However...

“They’re bullying you because you’re intellectuals.” A cold, clear voice came from Vivian’s mouth.

As soon as those words fell, everyone turned to look at Vivian simultaneously.

At the same time, Misty Moon Dream appeared in Vivian’s hand.

“What are you trying to do?!” The lead Enforcement Officer instantly became vigilant after seeing Vivian take out a weapon.

“Do you know that attacking Enforcement Officers in Silvermoon City is a serious crime?!”

“A serious crime?” Vivian sneered.

Then Vivian heard the Evil God’s voice.

“Villains die from talking too much. Heroes die from endless nagging. In a situation like this, saying even one extra sentence to them is a waste!”

Hearing this, Vivian immediately realized something was wrong.

Although the Enforcement Officer’s behavior was indeed hateful, what he said was also true.

Attacking Enforcement Officers in Silvermoon City really was a serious crime.

The moment she realized what Lord God intended to do, Vivian panicked.

If nothing unexpected happened, she was probably about to become a wanted criminal...

Jiang Chen naturally had no idea what Vivian was thinking.

After finishing dinner and washing the dishes, Jiang Chen logged back in to continue grinding the game.

But the instant he logged in, Jiang Chen was dumbfounded.

What the hell had he just seen?

Damn it, while he was offline, this broken game had actually started advancing the plot on its own.

Jiang Chen was completely stunned.

Then he immediately checked the logs to understand what had happened earlier. Originally, Jiang Chen had already planned to make a move.

But after the Enforcement Officers arrived, Jiang Chen restrained himself a little.

This game had a wanted system similar to GTA.

Simply put, if you killed too many ordinary NPCs in the game, or killed important NPCs like Enforcement Officers, Jiang Chen estimated the crime value would skyrocket.

So Jiang Chen hadn’t attacked and instead intended to resolve the issue through proper means.

But who could’ve guessed that the NPC who arrived would immediately start spewing outrageous nonsense too?

“Good lord!”

“The hell is this? They started dumping every possible accusation onto my head the moment they showed up.”

Jiang Chen was so angry he laughed.

Originally, Jiang Chen thought that once the Enforcement Officers arrived, they could talk things out, make the landlord compensate him a bit, and the matter would be over.

He could even earn a small profit.

But these two had forcefully chosen burial over compensation.

Especially that Enforcement Officer’s line—“setting aside the facts for the moment.”

“Where the hell did this planning team study dialogue writing?”

Anyway, after hearing that sentence, Jiang Chen felt his fists harden.

Jiang Chen’s evaluation of this kind of NPC was simple:

“You’re like a toad crawling onto someone’s shoe. You don’t bite, but you disgust people.”

For NPCs that severely ruined his gaming experience, Jiang Chen only had one thought:

“Kill them! All of them! Leave no one alive!”

Whatever consequences came afterward no longer mattered.

And so...

“Die, you bunch of bastards!”

The next moment, the little bear beside Jiang Chen changed size again and immediately threw a Candy Bomb without another word.

Seeing Jiang Chen suddenly attack, the others reacted quickly as a magical shield instantly appeared.

Seeing that, Jiang Chen didn’t hesitate either and immediately grabbed Lilith before running.

“Move!”

“Bastard! You actually dared attack Enforcement Officers?! You’re finished!”

As Vivian pulled Lilith and jumped out the window to escape, furious roars from the Enforcement Officers came from behind them.

But very quickly, those roars were drowned out by the massive explosion of the second Candy Bomb.

Then Jiang Chen saw all the NPCs behind him turn red.

Several NPCs even tried to bypass the little bear and chase after him.

“At a time like this, instead of figuring out how to deal with the little bear, you’re still trying to arrest me? You people are seriously asking for death.”

“Hope the explosions don’t kill you too quickly!”
