Chapter 490: A Brand New Power.

Eyes are the primary means through which most living beings observe the world. However, the way different organisms perceive the world through their eyes may vary.

Just like in the natural world, frogs are highly sensitive to moving objects but may not see non-moving objects clearly. Many insects possess compound eyes, and it remains unclear how their visual perceptions appear to them. Snakes have poor eyesight but can detect prey through heat sensing. Human eyes can see a visual image with about 576 million pixels. The three types of cone cells in the human eye (red, green, blue) allow us to perceive approximately one million colors, but there are still many individuals who suffer from color blindness and color deficiencies. On the other hand, mantis shrimps can distinguish more colors than humans, possessing the ability to perceive up to 16 different colors. They can also see ultraviolet and infrared light, as well as detect linearly and circularly polarized light. However, mantis shrimps lack intelligence and cannot describe the world they see to humans.

All these differences arise from the varying eye structures among different species.

Since becoming a demon, Roy noticed a distinct change in his eye structure. When he was human, he couldn't see things like souls, but demons could. Additionally, he gained the ability of dark vision, which allowed him to see clearly in the darkest places, a power completely different from that of humans.

Furthermore, Roy's eyes underwent further evolution. Compared to other demons, he acquired the ability of radiation perception. Therefore, the visual world perceived by Roy's eyes was always difficult to describe.

However, even so... the world he saw before fusing with divinity and the world he saw afterward are entirely incomparable!

Amidst the astonished gazes of Julia and Benia, a crack appeared on Roy's forehead, right between his eyebrows. The tough demon skin seemed to split open slowly, revealing a newly formed demon eye within.

This demon eye's sclera is entirely red, giving off a dazzling bloody sensation. Only the elongated pupil in the center bears a touch of gold. The entire eye looks extremely eerie, evoking both spine-chilling dread and a strange sense of holiness...

Yes, a sense of holiness! Such a descriptor appearing in relation to a creature like a demon is arguably the most inappropriate adjective, yet there it is...

Because this newly emerged vertical pupil is the manifestation of the fusion between the Mobius Mark Divinity and Roy.

With the help of this eye, everything Roy sees now undergoes a tremendous transformation.

Describing this change in words is challenging; it encompasses both the microscopic and the macroscopic. At the microscopic level, Roy perceives countless particles filling the atmosphere, each emitting entirely different radiance. Upon closer examination, Roy quickly realizes that these newly formed particles are, in fact, elements! Endless elements pervade the entire world, colliding and merging in a seemingly random manner, and then separating once more, much like Brownian motion. (Brownian motion-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brownian_motion)

Roy raises his hand and attempts to condense a block of ice in his palm using magic. In response, a unique force field expands from his palm. The particles touched by the force field, probably water elements, swarm and gather in his palm. Through continuous compression, fusion, and orderly arrangement, the particles transform from the unseen microscopic world into macroscopic matter. As a result, a diamond-shaped block of ice is born in Roy's palm.

It's too marvelous; witnessing the entire process of magic taking form with his own eyes is simply astonishing to Roy. He had never imagined that the magic he previously released was created in this manner.

The unique force field formed by magic was something Roy couldn't see before, but now, he deeply understands how magic serves as a medium to communicate with elements...

This observation occurred on a microscopic level. Roy slightly lifted his head and looked into the distance. The vertical pupil on his forehead contracted slightly, as if a magnifying glass was pulled away, instantly shifting from the microscopic to the macroscopic view. Besides the world and colors he used to observe, the macroscopic view revealed many indescribable things. Perhaps they were special rays that were previously imperceptible to Roy. At first, he couldn't quite discern what they were. But the most remarkable sight was that Roy saw... strings!

Strings, for lack of a better term, because they were composed of countless semi-transparent, ethereal lines. These myriad threads crisscrossed, forming a vast net that enveloped the entire sky and even the whole world!

This vast net filled the heavens and earth, enveloping all people and things, including Julia and Benia, who were close by. Similar lines seemed to extend from within them, intertwining with the countless other threads in this world.

The reason the word "strings" suddenly came to Roy's mind was that when he saw these ethereal lines, the first thing that popped into his head was puppets! In his eyes, the two of them appeared like puppets connected by numerous strings...

"What are these lines?" Roy wondered curiously. "Could they be the so-called threads of fate?"

In some literary works, there are often phrases and adjectives like "the goddess of fate plucks the strings of destiny..." In the past, Roy didn't think much of this statement. However, now that he witnessed these ethereal threads, he suddenly realized that perhaps this phrase might actually be true!

There might really be something called the "threads of fate"!

As he raised his hand, Roy saw numerous similar threads extending from his body, swaying faintly like blue smoke. They interwove with the existing threads of this world, completely indistinguishable from one another.

To verify his suspicions, Roy looked around and noticed a partially destroyed floating island in the distant horizon. It was a fragment of the celestial floating island shattered during the previous great battle. On this debris, there were still countless threads connected to it. Roy raised his hand and unleashed a massive destructive flame, completely obliterating it.

"Something's not right; it shouldn't be like this..." However, after destroying the debris, Roy frowned. He could clearly see that the strings emanating from the floating island's remains did not disappear after destruction. Instead, they transformed into another form and merged back into the threads of this world.

"What's wrong?" Julia and Benia were clueless about what was happening. They saw Roy inexplicably destroy the floating island debris and now, he was furrowing his brows. Curious, they asked him.

Roy didn't answer them but pondered carefully for a moment. Suddenly, he looked towards another piece of floating island wreckage in the distance.

However, this time, instead of using magic, Roy cautiously reached out his hand. His sharply pointed five fingers extended towards the debris, and he began to move them gently.

Julia and Benia dared not make a sound and silently watched Roy's actions. Even Sareth and Dante, Nero, who had returned, raised their fingers to hush everyone, signaling them to remain quiet and not disturb Roy.

After about ten minutes or so, it seemed as though Roy grasped something. His moving fingers suddenly closed together.

The next moment, the vast floating island debris covering an area of thousands of square meters in the distance disintegrated into countless fragments without any magical fluctuations or elemental intrusion. The debris was simply destroyed in front of everyone's eyes. Julia and the others looked at each other in confusion, not understanding what had just happened.

"Adoptive father, what did you do just now?" Sareth curiously asked.

Roy didn't answer; instead, he gazed at his demon claw with a hint of fascination, murmuring to himself, "I see, the power of disturbance? Or perhaps, this is what they call authority!?"

No one knew what he had just done, except Roy himself. In fact, he had been trying to figure out how to manipulate the "strings" that spread from the floating island. After many attempts, he finally discovered one "string" that he could freely "pluck." When he grabbed and directly pulled that "string," the floating island immediately crumbled!

The sensation was incredible! Roy could clearly feel that it was an unparalleled power!

Hearing Roy's murmurs, Julia and Benia's eyes lit up with excitement. They knew Roy had fused with divinity, but they didn't expect him to grasp the power of authority so quickly.

In the sky, four agile steeds flew through the air. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse rode on their respective mounts, slowly approaching Roy. In a more distant location, Bayonetta and Jeanne stood on magical circles, continuously leaping towards this direction.

Previously, the explosion caused by Jubileus's fall had blown everyone far away. Fortunately, they were in Heaven, with its vast and open space, so the explosion didn't cause much harm. However, this provided Roy with an opportunity to directly obtain Jubileus's divinity, and the faces of the warring parties now looked very displeased.

Divinity is a good thing, but when it falls into the hands of a demon, that's a different story altogether. Even though the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse were summoned by Roy, it didn't mean they were willing to witness the birth of a new Demon King.

So when they stood before Roy, War was the first to speak with a displeased expression, "Demon, this is the one and only time, and also the last time, don't think we'll ever help you fight your enemies again!"

Roy looked at him and grinned maliciously, "Rest assured, I know you won't lift a finger for me again. My promise still stands, the next time we meet, you will face 'The Fall'!"

"Let's hope so!" War snorted coldly. The four Horsemen of the Apocalypse didn't say another word; they transformed into beams of light and vanished into the horizon. They seemed eager to return...

After the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse left, Roy turned to face Sparda, Dante, Vergil, and Nero. They all remained in their demon forms, looking at Roy warily.

Of course, they knew that Roy had fused with divinity and become the new Demon King. But demons were the most difficult creatures to trust, and they weren't sure if their decision was right. However, if Roy, as the Demon King, intended any harm to both worlds, they, the four generations of the Sparda family, would stop him even if it cost them their lives.

Fortunately, Roy had no intention of doing anything harmful to either world...
