Despite the author's penchant for tragedy, though thankfully it seems to be less and less by the novel, their writing style is exquisite. Can't stop reading kind of exquisite.

This novel is very reminiscent of the Memoirs of the Returnee, which, to me, who is upset by the discontinuation and didn't have enough of it, is a delightful thing.

This novel has potentially, no, certainly off-putting, nazi parallels. Just one letter off, the race name, heh. But it is, so far (145), more than sufficiently fantasy. I hazard to say it's even a little bit interesting to explore.

Reading this after Judge of the Song Dynasty produced interesting perspectives on governance, methods of doing things, and stuff.

My only complaint is how invincible he is politically. Nobody is that untouchable in reality.

It's still an extremely good and entertaining book. Lots of political and personal relationships and thought.
