The story seems good at first. But there are so many inconsistencies. They say the world is cruel and the strong take advantage of the weak. But everyone around the main character is very friendly, he's saved many times without reason, and all the teachers treat him well. The Duke simply let him go and helped him, the dean helped him right away, and the students he studies with are all good to him too. He killed several Badits on the road, and by chapter 145, he's in mental anguish wondering if he did the right thing. Let me remind you—the world is cruel. And he spends six months reflecting on some bandits on the road. He's told he needs to rest and get himself together, not to attack others, and not to kill anyone, weak or strong. Otherwise, it will be bad. I don't understand where the cruel world is and where competition for resources is, where deception and using others for power are. There's none of that. It's just a story about a good school.

Damn. It was a really great read. Great journey. The character development—damn. And they should put at least 3 tragedy tags in this novel 😭😭😭

I also wished I've read LiTOW first so I could fit appreciate the ending.

Drop close to 400,yes the world is somewhat interesting, yes the side characters are nice, yes the power system and fights are cool. BUT the f#cking mc
I though the event in around chapter 40 was for the author to do the classic lil arc for mc to get used to killing. And it was actually pretty good executed, and up until chapter 100 everything was perfect.
Then up until chapter ~200 mc would have meltdowns about every 25 chapters. I though "huh that's strange, I thought we were over it but sure, character development I guess"
Then until chapter ~300 he would have psychosis about every 20 chapters. I though "well that's getting mildly annoying, but still maybe the author is wrapping up with MC's personality"
Then BOOM starting from chapter 300 bitchy psychotic meltdowns were now happening every ~10 f#cking chapters. How much superficial emotions can you milk out of your mc? He doesn't feel like a character anymore, it feels like author also got fed up with character development and just decided to spin a randomizer to choose what the mc would bitch about.
I can't fathom how such a good start could be ruined so much.
With the mc this novel is 5/10 mc. more for anyone else if you want to skip all the "character progression"
Deadass if the mc would be swapped for a generic Japanese isekai protag, the rating would shoot up to 9/10 because every other part of the novel is so good
I'm irritated beyond belief

My personal opinion will be at the bottom. First, I'll give you my review and you can decide if you like this type of novel.

So this is obviously cultivation based. Good thing it has is the change in environment. As the story progresses you feel the changes in the power of the character and their environment not like in other novels where only enemies seem stronger.

The important selling point or killing point depending on your taste will come to this: It is a tragedy. No it's not dramatic, it's literally tragedy. Even if the end doesn't refelct it, you can't ever read this novel twice the same way after the first. If you enjoy the every now and then friends or fun relaxing chapters, there is nothing of that here. It is high intensity most of the time.
Main character is a step further from a lone-wolf.
My closest comparison to the character is a cultivation lady-macbeth guy. Extremely edgy or shakespearean, take your pick.

Personal opinion: 7/10
Not the richest main character but like I said, changes in environment and the decent well built plot keeps it interesting most of the time.

Very nice novel,But I don't enjoy the ending much seems a bit rushed.
Anyways great slice of life story.
