    If Sunny and co (all 5 of them) go through the third nightmare together, it’s possible that so many Saints appearing at once could have caused this chain of nightmares.

    I’m now wondering if any of the nightmare creatures he’s faced here are connected to what he’s going to see in his third nightmare.

    If this means what I think it does,
    1 awakened = 1 tier 2 gate,
    1 ascended = 1 tier 3 gate

    Could this mean Antarctica is a paradox itself? Because of the gate array, many humans are becoming awakened and many awakened are challenging second nightmares.

    So the the many gates are a ripple from the future that's caused because of the very same gates? I really hope I'm wrong, I hate when they f#ck around with time.

    Something that was not mentioned but is worth pointing, is that tier one gates happen when a challenger does, not if they succeed. And there was only one tier 5 gate, while there is only one dead sovereign (Broken Sword). Would that hint that gates happen only when someone dies and not just by becoming a saint or such?

      holy spell, this is the best theory I heard so far. I made an account just for this; it's so on the nose, it's so simple.
      And Sunny says in this chapter how the simplest solution is usually the correct one

      I'm betting my money on this being true, no matter what other stuff is going on with the nightmare seeds; when someone of a specific rank dies, a portal of their rank gets created.

      To add to this theory: Recently, many Sleepers died, then a couple hundred Lost Awakened (North temple with Mordred), a Saint (Cormac) and a couple of Masters. There shouldn't be this many deaths at once usually, so now they are all manifesting at once.

        Good catch. Perhaps that started it, and then the many more deaths after Awakened start to arrive in Antarctica are what cause it to spiral even more out of control. Considering a Clan war is about to start on the continent, it’s safe to say an already awful situation is about to become hellish.
