    I think I have a theory of why the shadow guy who's echo sunny got said jet cannot become a saint because of the obel scale, professor obel says that there are ripples in the future that resonate to the past and those ripples might be related to how many spell carriers have reached a certain rank, type 3 gates only started manifesting after more than a dozen awakened reached the corresponding rank so maybe the sovereigns are stopping promising masters from challenging 3rd nightmare because they have the potential to challange and best the 4th nightmare and become a sovereign themselves which would start manifesting type 4 gates which the sovereigns don't want because that would give people who have read obel's river theory a conspiracy theory about their existence
