Chapter 937: Compensation

The Elders waited with bated breath for Elder Milo’s response, hoping it would be positive otherwise things would become troublesome for them.

As for Elder Milo, he had been making preparations to leave on the mission when he received the message from Library Staff and paused.

Curious, when he read the message, he was first surprised, then a wry smile surfaced on his face.

"This guy... he is really a handful." he muttered.

Swoosh!

His companion beast—Ayrie—in her human form instantly appeared before him, staring at him with shining eyes and said, "You are talking about that stinky kid, right? Since he isn’t reliable, we should take the little Python from him and raise—"

"Stop it, Ayrie. I told you we can’t do it." said Elder Milo in exasperation.

"Hmph!" Ayrie snorted in dissatisfaction and lowered her head.

Elder Milo patted her head and said, "You should believe in Grand Elder’s judgement. He is an extraordinary guy and Python will be sure to grow well with him."

"I hope so." Ayrie muttered, then asked while glancing at the Identity Badge in his hand, "So, what did he do?"

"He is cultivating in the Library’s Comprehension Rooms and using its Thunder Law. They asked whether they should stop him or will the Violet Peak reimburse them." said Elder Milo.

Ayrie nodded before vanishing, not interested in this at all.

Elder Milo thought for a moment, then he gritted his teeth and contacted Grand Elder Rowan.

’I hope Grand Elder doesn’t get angry,’ he thought. Ever since he brought Max out of the minor realm, he had disturbed Grand Elder more than he did in the past few years.

Fortunately, nothing such happened and after hearing about the situation, Grand Elder said he would take care of the comprehension rooms.

Relieved, Elder Milo relayed the information to the Library Staff, but he didn’t forget to scoff at them and let them know their sneaky little plan of profiting.

...

Clack... Swoosh!

When Max walked out of the room, he saw five Emperors, talking and laughing with happy and relieved looks on their faces and raised his brows.

These people were clearly Elders, and the Library Tower’s insignias on their robes told him they were probably supervisors of the Library.

But...

What were they doing in front of his room, seemingly celebrating something?

"Ahem. Disciple Max, come with us." The male elder, who had the most troubled look on his face earlier, coughed lightly and said.

Max looked at them for a moment, then nodded, "Alright."

Under everyone’s curious gazes, he was escorted away from the second floor.

On the third floor, Max was sitting in a large room, facing the Five Elders, listening to them describe the situation earlier.

"...you completely exhausted the stored Thunder Law on the second floor. While you didn’t break any rule by doing it since you were just cultivating, you should understand that it’s a significant loss for the library—unless we pay a heavy price to have it restored, no other disciple will be able to comprehend anything Thunder Elemental."

Max listened patiently, not responding.

The monocled Elder frowned slightly seeing he showed no reaction, much less look a bit guilty.

"We were about to evict you. Sure, it would have been troublesome for us, but the library wouldn’t have suffered such a loss." She said, "However, after finding out about the situation, Violet Peak agreed to reimburse us. So, we didn’t disturb you."

"No disrespect, Elders." Max finally spoke, "But can you tell me why you brought me here?"

Since he wasn’t at fault, he didn’t want to waste time here. Of course, he had noted that Violet Peak had done him another favor.

The Elders’ expressions cooled upon hearing this.

"To inform you this and..." the monocled Elder said and extended her hand holding her identity badge. "To give you some compensation because the thunder law seemed to have run out before your time was up."

Max thought for a moment, then nodded. Since they wanted to compensate him, it wasn’t a bad thing.

After he tapped his badge against hers, he bade them farewell and left.

"Tch! This rude brat." an Elder clicked his tongue, then asked the monocled Elder, "What did you give him? Merit Points or Free Pass?"

"Free Pass for three uses." answered the monocled Elder.

"You should have just given a few hundred Merit Points. That would have been enough." the Elder grumbled. He didn’t like Max’s attitude at all. After all, most disciples were always respectful to them.

"No, she did good. Did you not see High Elder Adam’s message? He was clearly saying since we would be profiting, we would give him some benefits to the boy. If we had shortchanged him and the High Elder had found out, it wouldn’t have been good. Now, this might not earn us High Elder’s favor, but our relationship wouldn’t sour either." The ’troubled-look’ Elder explained.

"By the way... do you think Grand Elder Rowan would come himself to recharge the Thunder Law?" the other female Elder asked, a look of anticipation on her face.

"He should, right? I don’t think there is anyone else on the Violet Peak who has a high enough comprehension of Thunder Law." another Elder said thoughtfully.

"Let’s go. We should make preparations."

...

Sanya was sitting cross-legged, her eyes closed in mediation when suddenly she felt something and opened her eyes.

Then, she took out Identity Badge from her spatial ring and a hint of surprise, followed by glee appeared on her rosy face.

"Finally..." she muttered.

She had received a message from Grand Elder Rowan.

[See if you can find someone to recharge the Library Tower’s Thunder Law of second floor.]

It was a simple message, her master asking her help because he might be busy with something else.

But she knew what this meant—this meant her Master was finally willing to repair relations with her Senior Sister.

After all, while there were a few Elders who could use Thunder Law, they weren’t from Violet Peak, nor did she personally know them. So, asking them this favor was out of question and her master knew this.

So, who else could she ’find’ to complete this task?

It was her senior sister, Valerie, the Disciplinary Hall Master of Inner Hall of course.
