Chapter 938: Testing the Rune’s Effects

Without wasting any time, she left the cultivation chamber and headed to the Inner Hall, humming a soft tune.

For the first time in several years, she was feeling this happy again.

’Maybe after they are on good terms again, I could ask Senior Sister to tell Master to become a little more serious in dealing with that Dogheart.’ she thought, her face flushing red at the thought of ripping Lord Grimheart’s head off and bleeding his corpse dry.

Swoosh!

Her aura began to seep out of her as she flew and several people, disciples and Elders alike shuddered when they felt it.

"W-Who was that?"

"I didn’t see."

"How horrifying! I felt as if I was about to die."

...

Within the Disciplinary Hall, Valerie was sitting on the main seat, listening to the Elders’ report and giving out orders when the temperature of the hall suddenly dropped.

Her eyes narrowed.

Swoosh!

The next instant, Sanya flew into the hall, her face and eyes red, her aura fluctuating around her.

Everyone in the hall felt pressured.

"Elder Blood Flower!" Valerie shouted. "Please restrain your aura."

"Oh, my bad." Sanya said, giving everyone an apologetic look. Then, she said, "Can you all leave for a bit? I have something to discuss with the Hall Master."

Everyone was more than happy to leave, but they couldn’t do so without Valerie’s order, so they looked at her. When she nodded, everyone rushed out of the hall one after another, instantly emptying the hall.

Bang!

Sanya curled her fingers slightly and the doors slammed shut.

"What is it?" asked Valerie, her tone a little cold. She didn’t like the display Sanya put on just now.

It was as if Sanya couldn’t tell her senior sister was dissatisfied with her, a wide smile appeared on her face, "I have a piece of very good news. You’ll definitely like it, senior sister."

Valerie didn’t speak, but her eyes flickered and her fingers on the armrest of her seat clenched harder.

"Master has asked me to find you to do something for him as he is busy right now." Sanya said and watched as Valerie... looked away and murmured, "I’m afraid I can’t do it, junior sister."

Boom!

Sanya’s eyes widened and her mind blanked out for a moment.

Did she... hear it right? Her senior sister had refused to help?

...

Max returned to his cave residence on the Violet Peak and shut himself inside.

He needed to test the Rune’s prowess.

Taking a breath, he took out the stack of talisman paper and talisman ink.

What was a more effective way to test the rune than to use it to make a talisman, right?W

With this thought, he began working.

The process was the same, the only thing was different that he was creating Thunder Elemental talisman instead of Fire Elemental.

Forty minutes later... After destroying three talisman paper, he succeeded in preparing the fourth and began the process of infusing Thunder Energy of his Energy Traces into the talisman ink.

When he was done and began inscribing the talisman, he added the faint outline of the Rune in his mind.

Buzz!

When he finished, the talisman vibrated, faint arcs of pale blue lighting streaking across it. As he watched it with bated breath, the vibrations slowly ebbed and the streaks of lightning also settled down.

...He had created his first Thunder Elemental Talisman.

When he inspected it with his Bloodline Sense, he felt it was stronger than the best Fire Elemental Talisman he had created until now.

"Let’s test it out." He thought and walked out of the cave.

"Young Lord." greeted Dan who had just arrived.

"Mm." Nodding, Max walked a little far from the cave, and poured his Bloodline Energy into the Talisman, activating it.

"Young Lord, Don’t—" Dan called out when he saw what Max was doing but he was one second too late. The Talisman had already been activated.

Max threw it in front of it.

Then...

Bzzttt... Crackle! Boom!

Lightening exploded out of it, then a loud explosion rocked the area.

The resulting shockwaves slammed into the ground, cresting a crater whole those that spread towards Max and Dan, pushed Max a step back while Dan was sent flying and slammed on the cave wall.

After the explosion settled, Max’s eyes flashed with delight.

"This attack was comparable to 70% of the full powered attack of an ordinary peak Four Star Elemental Mage..." he murmured, "Doesn’t this mean it was a High Grade, Tier 4 Elemental Talisman, and very close to the Top Grade of Tier 4?"

"...Argh."

Just then he heard a week, pained groaned

"Oh, shoot." he snapped back to his senses, and rushed over to Dan’s side, a guilty look on his face.

"Sorry, I was in too much rush to test it..." he apologized and despite the fact Dan had suffered a massive blow and bleeding through his mouth and nose, his eyes glazed over, a suprised look couldn’t help but appear on his face when he heard this.

Then, he forced a smile and shook his head, "No, Young Lord. Please don’t apologise. It’s my fault. I should have taken cover."

Max wasn’t in mood to argue, so he lifted him in his arms and was about to rush down to get him treated in the Medical Hall when a middle aged woman, dressed in a blue robe with the insignia of Violet Peak etched on her chest, appeared.

She swept her gaze across the ruined ground that was in process of repairing and frowned as she eyed Max, "Don’t you know it’s prohibited to fight or use any lethal spells on the peak?"

Max glanced at Dan, who smiled wryly, "I was trying to stop you earlier for this reason, Young Lord."

"Apologies, Elder. I was not aware of the rule." Max apologized.

"I’m letting you off this time. If it happens again, you’ll be fined 100 Merit Points." The Elder warned before leaving.

Deciding not to do it again, he descended the mountain and arrived at the medical hall.

After greeting the Medical Elder who was still sitting in the same chair like the day before, he told her about the small accident.

The Medical Elder glanced at her disciple, the young girl who was almost glaring at Max, "Take him to the room and heal him, Kaelin."

"Yes, Master." Kaelin nodded, took Dan from him, not caring his blood would stain her robe and enter the room beside Rima’s.

Taking a deep breath, Max nodded at the Medical Elder, then pushed open the door and entered the room.

It had been a few days since he last met her.

"You have come?" As soon as he entered, Rima’s pleasant voice echoed in the room as she looked up from the book she was reading upon hearing the door open.

"Yes. Feeling better now?" he asked as he sat beside her, gently taking her hand in his.

"Yes. I have almost fully recovered now." she smiled.

Max nodded. Her complexion was much better now.

But he let out a sign in his heart. She looked better and was wearing a smile, but the look in her eyes told another story.
