Chapter 874: Another Friend Joins |
Kyle traveled to Fierce Breaker's Planet and met him there. It was far easier to show how he trained than just talk about it. Kyle needed to work on his Law of Black Hole anyway.
When he got there, the two of them started to talk about all kinds of things. Kyle gave him a summary of his life, and Fierce Breaker did the same. Naturally, Kyle also went into detail when it came to his past battles and how he had decided to improve his powers.
After talking for a long while, Fierce Breaker noticed some differences in how Kyle trained and how Swamp Dragon trained.
In general, Seekers trained in one of two ways. One method was to use one's mind to understand how everything worked logically, while the other method was to try to get a feeling for something. These two methods mostly stemmed from how a person made decisions. Some people primarily made decisions based on what they felt was right, while others made decisions based on what they felt was most logical.
Naturally, there were advantages and disadvantages. For example, calculating how to manipulate different muscles to perform a physical action was more difficult than simply relying on one's feelings and instincts.
Fierce Breaker could tell that Kyle was more feeling-oriented. However, he had also been forced to learn about the other way by Theodor. Surprisingly, having a crazy voice in one's head for years could do wonders for one's growth.
Kyle simply used both methods interchangeably. This was one of the reasons why he was so strong. Another reason was his courage, which bordered on suicidal stupidity.
He hadn't known about Imposing Laws but decided to simply swing his hammer for centuries, not knowing if it would ever pay off. He had attempted to create a Complex Mind Law in the Compression Realm. He didn't flee from battles that had a survival chance of less than ten percent.
He was on the roulette table of life and death, going all in, betting everything on black every single time.
Eventually, Sebastian joined them as well. He was still focusing on comprehending the Law of Major Lightning with his Elemental, but having a conversation barely consumed any focus.
As the three talked, Kyle kept focusing on his Law of Black Hole. From time to time, he shared his thoughts, and the other two commented on them.
Usually, learning Laws with other people's help had negative consequences. By not getting to the end with one's own power, one would lack experience during future Law Comprehensions. It was like regularly using hints in a puzzle game with levels of escalating difficulty. If one didn't get through the easier levels without a hint, one wouldn't get through the harder ones without a hint as well. It created a dependency.
However, this was not an issue when refining one's External Complex Laws. These External Complex Laws were usually unique, and it was more about finding creative ways to utilize them. It was less of an act of understanding or learning something.
A couple of years passed, and Sebastian got a message.
"Oh, Manny accepted," Sebastian commented, looking at his Communicator.
Kyle's brows rose.
"Told you," Fierce Breaker commented from the side, his arms crossed.
"That means we're at least four people," Kyle said with a grin. "That should make things easier in the Primary World."
"I'm gonna get him," Sebastian said.
Sebastian left, and about two months later, he returned.
Behind him stood a tall and muscular man with a two-handed sword. When he saw Kyle and Fierce Breaker, he smirked.
"Here I am!"
"I knew you would come," Fierce Breaker said, bumping Manny's fist.
Kyle noticed the flat bump and raised a brow. 'I thought this was an Earth-exclusive thing,' he commented.
"Is it?" Fierce Breaker thought. "We've been using it for ages."
"Swamp Dragon showed it to me," Manny commented. "I think he got that from you."
Kyle remembered the time he bumped fists with Swamp Dragon. "Ah, makes sense."
Manny approached Kyle and put his hand on his right shoulder. "I got your message, and I have to tell you, you're overthinking. Sometimes, the simplest answer is the correct one."
"You said you don't feel like you know me, but that's just because you don't believe what you see. I'm Manny. I love excitement. I like fighting stuff and learning things. That's it."
Kyle raised an eyebrow. "The Manny I remember didn't seem like that. You seemed more like a troublemaker or comedian."
Manny laughed when he heard Kyle calling him a comedian. He remembered that Kyle had called him a comedian many times before.
"I haven't been like that for a long time," he said with a loud laugh. "Back then, I was too spontaneous. You could call it an overcorrection."
"Overcorrection?" Kyle asked. "In what way?"
"I'm a head-guy," Manny said. "I might not look like it now, but on a fundamental level, I'm prone to listening to my logic more than my feelings. The logical decision is always the right one, and that philosophy served me well. After all, I got through the Star Seeking with that philosophy. Back then, people described me as serious, cold, emotionless, and calm."
Kyle's brows rose. The Manny he remembered couldn't be described with any of these words.
"Then, I watched an argument between two Inner Disciples of the Array of Stars. As far as I know, those two were rivals, and their strengths were similar. The argument turned ugly very quickly. There was a lot of posturing, and in the end, one of them said something that stuck with me."
"The way you train sounds miserable. Your life sounds miserable. You sound miserable. You're always working on yourself and your miserable existence in the most miserable way possible. Look at all the effort you put into everything. Compared to your lonely self, I actually have friends, a partner, five children, and a life outside of training, and you know what? I'm still more powerful than you!"
Manny laughed when he repeated these words. "That actually hit me pretty hard. These words made me question my goals and the way I lived my life. It made me realize that I was just like that other guy, miserable. So, I decided to go with the flow and do whatever I wanted. I tried to listen more to my feelings in an effort to get rid of this misery."
"That's when I overcorrected by being a huge dick, and when I met you. Initially, I was interested in your ability to resist my illusions, but after staying with you and Swamp Dragon for a while, I found a good balance. I care about you guys, and I want to grow stronger, but I don't want to be an illusionist for my entire life."
Manny hit the sword on his back. "I originally used this big weapon as a disguise, but I've grown to like it. I went with it, and now, I'm a physical fighter who uses illusions to improve my attacks. It feels exciting, and it's effective."
"As in how effective, well..."
Manny pulled out his sword and swung it to the side.
The next moment, the group's eyes widened in shock.
An illusory sword!
"I didn't create it in the Primal Realm like you, but I've also got one now," Manny said with a grin.
"You're no longer the only one with an Imposing Law."
