Chapter 443: Law Plane |
【Law Plane】?
When Janna once again heard a new term from Hephis-Stellar that she had never heard of before, her inner curiosity could no longer be described as merely strong.
If it weren’t for the fact that Janna was still inside the 【Book World】, she would have really wanted to rush straight into the library and thoroughly look up information regarding the 【Book World】, 【Flow of Time】, and 【Law Plane】.
“In the past, I only heard that after Wizard Apprentices advanced to become Official Wizards, they would obtain a 【Law Domain】 derived from the 【Law】. But I’ve never heard that Official Wizards also had a 【Law Plane】———”
In fact, even the concept of the 【Law Domain】 was something Janna had only learned about on the day when Anthony-Rook fought against 【Cain-Bloodred】. It was only after she saw Anthony-Rook personally wield it that she realized that Official Wizards actually possessed 【Law Domains】.
“Could it be that the 【Law Domain】 was actually the same as the 【Law Plane】? That they were just two names for the same thing?”
As she thought this, Janna’s gaze involuntarily shifted toward Marquell-Storm, who wasn’t far away.
As someone born into the Storm Family, a gathering place of Elemental Soul Wizards, Marquell-Storm had enjoyed resources far beyond what an ordinary apprentice could ever hope for since childhood.
Therefore, knowledge regarding the 【Law Plane】 surely wasn’t a secret to Wizard Apprentices from such great Wizard families.
“You must remember, Wizards are always the guardians of the 【Wizard World】, not lofty overlords. After joining the White Tower, every one of you will bear the duty of protecting the 【Wizard World】. This responsibility is arduous and accompanied by the danger of death…”
“So here, I advise you all—if you are not ready to face death at any moment, then you had better leave now!”
Toward the end, Hephis-Stellar’s tone grew visibly heavier. Yet, for the Wizard Apprentices who had long since prepared themselves mentally, his words did not dampen their resolve.
Even someone like Janna, a common-born apprentice, had been earnestly reminded by Anthony-Rook before heading to Dordogne that the White Tower was by no means a simple educational institute. Everyone who entered had to be ready to sacrifice their life at any time for the sake of guarding the 【Wizard World】.
When the lips perish, the teeth grow cold; when the nest falls, the eggs cannot remain intact.
Wizards and the 【Wizard World】 had always been bound together by a shared fate. To protect the 【Wizard World】 was to protect Wizards themselves, and even the human race as a whole.
Therefore, while the White Tower provided resources to its members, it also demanded that everyone carry the belief of “protection.”
Just like Anthony-Rook, who faced 【Cain-Bloodred】, or the Wizards who defended Turin City, or even 【Ivrecia】, who willingly sacrificed herself to repel the Outer Gods for the sake of defending the 【Material Plane】.
They were all true and worthy guardians of the 【Wizard World】!
After Hephis-Stellar completed his “initiation lecture,” he casually picked up a book from the shelf and began to read. Seeing this, the other Wizard Apprentices, while enduring the intense heat radiating from Hephis-Stellar, began softly asking the book-shaped “Guiding Spirits” beside them about the White Tower.
In this process, Janna also discovered that apart from basic information like food, lodging, organizational structure, and infrastructure of the White Tower, her most pressing curiosity—knowledge about the 【Law Plane】—was something that 【Number One】 did not know.
“All right, time is almost up. The White Tower Trial should now come to an end.”
After about an hour inside the 【Book World】, Hephis-Stellar finally closed the book in his hands.
“I’ll give you three hours to say goodbye to your leading Wizards. Once the time is up, you must immediately follow the Guiding Spirit beside you back to the White Tower.”
That was it?
Hearing Hephis-Stellar’s words, Janna understood that from this moment onward, she was officially a member of the Dordogne–White Tower.
Although Janna had already learned about the White Tower’s new regulations beforehand, she hadn’t expected the process to be this efficient.
“Remember, do not be late.”
Whoosh—
Along with Hephis-Stellar’s final words, Janna’s ears once again filled with the rapid rustling sound of turning pages.
In just a moment, as her vision shifted from color to black-and-white and then back to color again, the familiar scenery outside the White Tower reappeared before Janna’s eyes.
“This is—the outside of the Star Ring Barrier.”
Looking at the white icicles hanging from the branches on both sides of the main road, as well as the bustling crowd beneath the trees, Janna knew that the forty-eight-hour-long Dordogne–White Tower Trial had finally ended.
“Janna——”
Just as she was putting on her Wizard Hood, a familiar voice called out from the mechanical carriage parked ahead on her left.
“Gawen, how long have you all been out?”
It was Gawen-Tull, already seated inside the mechanical carriage, who had called her name.
“About an hour.”
Hearing this, Janna quickly stepped up into the mechanical carriage.
And the moment she entered, she immediately sensed the heavy atmosphere inside—especially around Vivian.
“Sorry to keep you waiting.”
Not long after Janna boarded, Jose-Gold, who was also followed by a silver-covered Guiding Spirit, stepped onto the carriage as well. Adjusting the glasses on his nose with an apologetic expression, he offered everyone an apology.
“Gawen, what about the other Wizards?”
Inside the carriage, aside from Gawen-Tull, Janna, and Jose-Gold, there were only Vivian, Soro-Flare, Reiman-Tulan, and Yuli-Shelan.
“They just got off not long ago. They should be back soon—ah, they’re here.”
Sure enough, as Gawen-Tull spoke, the three leading Wizards—headed by the Bone Sage, Gushan-Rav—boarded the carriage.
“Let’s go.”
Once everyone was inside, the Wizards, clearly well aware of the apprentices’ final trial results, didn’t ask any questions. Instead, they immediately commanded the alchemical creatures to drive the carriage toward the city.
“Vivian.”
