Chapter 2640: Battle Plan

The structure at the heart of the Eternal City resembled a soaring, monolithic palace with sharp spires piercing the darkness of the underwater chasm. These spires, however, did not emanate radiant silver light — instead, they were black and lifeless, making the palace seem like a jagged mass of darkness.

There were several structures in the Eternal City that stood out among the rest: the Wharf, the Lighthouse, the Clocktower... but the Palace was the largest of them all, sprawled across an entire island and set under the highest point of the invisible dome protecting the city from the crushing weight of water.

Jet glanced at the dark spires looming in the distance, then shrugged.

"Lam willing to bet that the most important thing in this city is hidden there. The Dutchman is probably moving in that direction, as well."

She lingered for a moment.

"So, what is the plan?"

Sunny contemplated for a while.

"Well, now that the Night Garden is being repaired, we have two main goals left. Secure the source of the Storm God's lineage and find what I am looking for. The former is located in the Lighthouse, while the latter... the Palace is a good bet. There's also the building that looks like an armory, as well as several other interesting landmarks. The problem is that they are situated in different directions."

He smiled darkly.

“Another problem is that this city is populated by a vast horde of immortal Great Ones — in fact, the city is what makes them immortal. Ideally, we should conquer this entire place, but that does not seem like a realistic goal at the moment. Unless we find a way to destroy the sorcery making the city eternal, that is. Granted, the same sorcery seems to be preventing the Stormsea from crushing it into dust, so there's that."

Sunny shook his head.

“We should go for the Lighthouse and the Palace. If an opportunity to conquer the city presents itself in the process, we might consider it then. These are long-term goals, though. As for right now..."

Jet glanced at him and asked in a relaxed tone:

"Survive?"

He nodded.

"Yes. At the moment, far more immortals than the ones we dealt with are moving toward us. And when they arrive, we might not be able to defeat them all."

Jet smiled.

"We can't allow them to corner us on this island, right? If several swarms descend upon us here, even your shadow wraiths won't be able to withstand the assault. We'll be buried under an avalanche of flesh." Sunny hated to admit it, but Jet was right. They had suffered numerous casualties while enjoying a great numerical advantage... without it, even the Shadow Legion would struggle to win. Worse still, even if they repelled the second wave of immortals, there would be a third one, and the fourth, each more overwhelming than the previous one.

The shades would not be truly destroyed, but if Sunny was not careful, all of them would be vanquished one after another, leaving him to face a city full of indestructible Great Nightmare Creatures alone.

"So, what do you suggest?"

He had his own considerations, but not using Jet and her rich experience would be foolish.

She lingered for a few seconds, then said in an even tone:

“If we can't allow ourselves to be cornered... we must attack. Advance to the neighboring islands, stretch out the line of combat contact, and let our superior numbers shine"

Sunny smiled.

“That was my thinking, as well. We should cross to the three islands connected to this one by bridges, find easily reinforced positions, and repel the second wave of immortals."

He fell silent and closed his eyes for a moment.

"Things will get difficult from there, because we'll be nearing the inner ring of the city. Those three islands are connected to numerous more, and from different directions, as well — so, we will be flanked while repelling frontal assaults. It is hard to predict what will happen exactly, though, because we don't know enough about the Eternal City yet."

Jet nodded.

"Advance, conquer territory, establish reinforced positions... rinse and repeat. The Lighthouse is similar to the Wharf, though — both are situated on the outskirts of the city — while the Palace is standing dead in the center. Which one are we going to go for first?"

Sunny grimaced.

The Lighthouse was easier to reach, since they could simply move along the outer perimeter of the Eternal City to get there. The Palace, however... if the Dutchman was indeed carving a path to it, then they needed to arrive before the wraith army. He remained silent for a while, then asked: “How long do you think the Night Garden will need to stay at the wharf to be repaired?"

Jet hesitated.

"I am not sure. We can set sail at any moment, though — either to escape or to circle the city and make landfall at a different point."

Sunny contemplated silently, feeling the pain of his Flaw growing more and more intense. He still had not answered Jet's question, after all.

Eventually, he said:

“Then let's go after the Lighthouse and the Palace at the same time."

He glanced at the distant spires of the Palace somberly.

"The Shadow Legion will launch an invasion into the depths of the Eternal City, slowly making its way to the central island. The Night Garden, meanwhile, will sail along the edges of the dome and bring us directly to the Lighthouse."

Sunny glanced at Jet with a concerned determination.

"If everything goes well — or rather, if we'll make it go well — we will launch a second offensive toward the Palace, this time from the Lighthouse. Then, we will see who gets to it first."

Jet sighed.

“Sounds like a plan. I have just one question, though..."

Sunny raised an eyebrow.

“What?"

She grinned.

“Are you sure that we don't want to just get the hell out of here?"

Sunny stared at her with an incredulous expression for a while.

"Of course, we want to. Do you think that fighting immortal nightmare creatures on the bottom of the sea is how I want to spend my days? Did I not mention that I hate water?"

He grimaced.

“However, reality does not always cater to our wishes. So... let's wage a war on this cursed city and conquer it.’

Jet smiled lazily.

“Let's. Oh, and by the way... yes."

She patted Sunny on the shoulder.

"I do think that, deep down, that is how you want to spend your days."

Sunny scoffed.

‘Joke's on her. I'm not that deep..."

I've been rereading past chapter, especially one where Weaver show sunny how gods died, in it , it says

The moon shattering and the stars being extinguished as an unfathomable being swiped its claws at the proud towers of a gorgeous white castle, the city below it drowning in a flood as all its citizens screamed and died.

I think the storm god who also known as god of stars died at the same time the Eternal city fell from space, and i fear the being who kill the storm god Possible an unholy being is still there, if so good luck sunny

Sunny is only a supreme, he is not invincible and has things to protect.

1.) Night Garden needs protection, only saints are protecting it.

2.) Shadow sense has been dampened within the barrier, so his overall vision has been severely reduced in city comparable to NQSC.

3.) They are on the outskirts and have barely got their foot through the door in which they have been attacked by +2500 immortals within minutes of their arrival. All were of human appearance plus one tiger, which were all of the great rank (same rank as sunny) and we don't know if there are any cursed or unholy nightmare creatures about in this big city that they have barely explored. Not to mention the pirate wraiths and the thing that killed old tom.

4.) (Expanding on point 3) saying sunny should just split his incarnations and explore by himself is ridiculous. He is strong for a human of the nightmare spell but he isn't dumb and reckless, exploring a place that could have cursed or unholy beings with high classes (intelligence and other abilities) but they would definitely be able to see through a supremes stealth.

5.) They have no idea what they're looking for. Ofc they know they need to find the lineage of weaver and the storm god but they have no definite answer where it will be or what it looks like, even with sunny suppressed shadow sense it wouldn't help find something so rare, it would definitely be blocked from his senses. Not to mention if theres any sorcery traps in building.

6.) Caution is important, recklessly saying if he loses an incarnation then he can just grind to get another one is inconclusive, we dont know if he would be able to get another one and neither does sunny, so why would he risk that. The same thing applies to mimic why take the risk.

To wrap this up, sunny is strong but not invincible and not dumb. Sunnys intelligence is what has carried him a lot, throwing caution to the wind in the age of the nightmare spell is ludicrous. Getting cocky and drunk on strength gets yourself and others killed.

Night Garden IS THE protection lmao, nothing is destroying it yet, especially now that it is repaired somewhat.

His vision is not restricted, his shadow sense is

Sunny is more than capable of battling cursed creatures, and more than capable of avoiding unholy creatures as well.

Storm God lineage is in the Lighthouse, right on the outskirts of the City. Whereas the lineage location isn't revealed yet, but Sunny can use [Where's my eye?] to find it.

Sunny can get another incarnation by forming a new soul core, as simple as that. The only difference is that he will get a new shadow with new personality. About mimic, if they end up being awake then Mimic can digest them into soul coins anyways.

Mimic can’t turn them into soil coins, they’d still reform so they have to leave the city first.

Vision and Shadow Sense might as well be the same thing for him- he literally trained it to be so there’s that

Using “where is my eye” IN the Eternal City just seems like a bad idea, yeah he can narrow down fate by ignoring the truly horrifying things but that just seems like a risk and over reliance on a tool, that can genuinely turn you mad with a wrong look

Sunny’s incarnations are not Shadow Clones. There’s a soul link between them and all can become corrupted if one messes up. Mordret can splinter and play with his soul however he wish as long as his Flaw is safe while Nephis can become nuclear destroying one but Sunny’s incarnations are just versatile, destroying one gives him soul damage and making him comparatively weaker then he would be

No matter how you look at it; sacrificing an incarnation and letting one purposely die cuz you could “probably” get another one again is just reckless.

If it can be avoided let it be avoided
If it can’t, fight tooth and nail like it’s your last try
Sunny doesn’t have “Seven Lives” and thinking he could try again just seems like a quicker way to die ignorant and corrupted.

I agree, Night Garden still asleep even after docking back in its home grounds is proof enough.

Regarding sunnys new core with a new helper personality, we almost never read about them since those shadow helpers have been dormant ever since Sunny's assimilation with them, it's always his personality thats there.

There's been only one instance where sunny got KO'd in chess game that naughty took over but Sunny doesn't even remember it. So yes i also agree their poersonallity changing doesn't really matter that much.

But here's the real question we should be asking; with what we've assumed is the power of his dormant sovereign shadow helper is capable once it takes over unconcious sunny, will it even allow itself to be killed off and replaced by a new one? Or would it rather lay waste to eternal city and everone currently there, rather than willingly accept a true shadow death?

Night Garden can be breached. Stop glazing everything and underestimating nightmare creatures.

I said his shadow sense is dampened which affects his overall vision, its basically a second pair of eyes and he has said he feels blind without it. (Please read)

Sunny has fought low class cursed nightmare creatures. If sunny fought a cursed titan, he will most likely die. Unholy is an all but guranteed death sentence.

Sunny can use 'where is my eye' but that's last resort since he doesn't want to damage his noraml vision when he has a long battle of attrition ahead of him.

Sunny doesn't know if he can get a new soul core and shadow, and he wouldn't risk finding out. Stop with the baseless comments. If sunny doesn't know how do you. Mimic is a transcendent devil if i remember correctly (correct me if I'm wrong) which would not be able to counter a daemons immorality sorcery, so saying mimic can turn them into to coins without anything to back that up is ridiculous. Mimic could get destroyed in the process. They are immortal, they can't be killed so easily.

You're too negatively pessimistic and see every cup as half empty.
          7
People like me and Sunny have a brighter disposition in life. When we see the cup, we know that it's half empty because someone drank the half portion. Therefore someone has to pay for the unfinished drink. Do you know what that means? A free half drink.

Oh almost forgot what i was here to say. Regarding sunnys core being replenishable.

Yes its a sure thing. Sunny is just too much of a cockroach at survival to try it out. All titans have some consumable abilities to use a core then replenish it later. Like Nephs blast, or mordreds's soul possesion. Well guess what sunny"s is?

Thats right hes using his right now making shadow helpers. Its a passive ability. Therefore if one of them dies, it breaks a consumable shadow core. He can definetly reforge a new one back up to 7.

Night Garden can indeed be breached, but only by Cursed creatures or above, and then also it can't when there's an army of saints masters and awakened defending it WHILE the night garden itself has a defence mechanism. You forget that Night Garden is meant to travel the space and perhaps even void, it was built by the same daemon that made the eternal city, and it is made up of a branch of the Heart God's avatar. Breaching it is almost impossible, maybe in the past it could as the passage of time destroys everything, but now that it is somewhat repaired, no it can't be breached by mere Great creatures.

His shadow sense is being dampened, not completely obstructed. He can still use it while battling, it's just that his range isn't as big as an entire city (not completely necessary in battle by the way).

Sunny has fought low class cursed nightmare creatures alone, but now he can use his shadows shades domain amplification of 5 incarnations The curse and bunch more. Here he is not nerfed by any means, and can finally exert his full power. He is by no means weak, and The curse just increases his already potent strength. Yes, battling cursed titans is almost impossible, but who says he has to kill it? He can stall enough time for Nightmare to lull it to sleep. Yeah that does sound impossible too, but then what else can be the choice?

Him encountering unholy creatures is a bit of a stretch. Although it isn't unlikely, it would definitely result in Sunny's death or atleast severe backlash of losing incarnations. So unless G3 is willing to do that, he won't encounter an unholy creature. Even if he does, he either barely escapes or dies.

[Where is my eye] is indeed a last resort, and Sunny can always use it if he cannot find the Weaver's lineage. That is his main purpose as of now, and that is why he will 100% use it if he cannot find by normal means. Ofcourse he would first take care of the creatures before using it.

What do you mean by that? Why can't he get a new soul core? All he needs is to gather enough shadow fragments to make one. Whereas a new soul core would cause Sunny to get a new shadow with a new personality. G3 himself confirmed this too. So please stop saying that Sunny doesn't know or some bullshit, Sunny himself stated that separating his incarnations would just cause him to lose one incarnation, not a big deal.
Mimic is a Transcendent creature, and so is Nightmare. Yet Nightmare can lull even Cursed creatures to sleep. Mimic converting them into soul coins is not possible indeed, but what if that creature provides no resistance? Yes, I am talking about the moment when the creature is dead and hasn't been revived by the immortality sorcery yet. Mimic can definitely do something about that. Or Mimic can digest them and convert into soul coins while they are asleep by Nightmare. Anything works really, this is just a theory, and although Sunny stated that doing this could be risky, Sunny also mentioned that if they wake up from sleep they can suffer Mimic digesting them.
Mimic not getting destroyed isn't a priority, if Sunny has no other choice he would definitely sacrifice Mimic, as he might already know how to rebuild it again (probably).

Didn't he have a plethora of combat type Echo's to choose from but no, he handpicked mimic because mimcy is the most useful of all.

Didn't he faught for his life while falling feeding sunny whith his own flesh, kept him company and protect sunny from that fall.

Didn't mimcy serve as his shop in bastion fulfilling Sunny's childhood dream of becoming a business proprietor.

Didn't Sunny proudly show off his own creation, mimcy to Rain.

Of all his summons he cherishes mimcy the most. Saint, slayer and the rest are for fighting but he always leaves out mimcy because he doesn't want any harm to it. Did you think mimcy doesn't know how to fight? Sunny knows mimcy is one of his toughest fighters.

Sunny is unsure he can recreate mimcy. Plus they share all the wonderful memmories. So take that back!!!

‎That’s an interesting thought. I believe most people misperceive themselves. Not just slightly, but profoundly. And others misperceive us too. We craft illusions, not only for the world, but for ourselves. Every mask we wear to face others becomes a mirror we use to shape our own identity.
The more we repeat the lie, the more it calcifies into belief.
That’s the nature of perception: it’s neither absolute truth nor absolute falsehood.
It’s a story we tell, and retell, until it feels real.

So here’s my question. Sunny, with his flaw, do you think he’s incapable of lying to others, yet it may be possible for him to finally lie towards himself?

If it was one of his bodies alone he could lose an incarnation (and shadow core) like that, plus he shares essence across his bodies so having them split up could mean two are fighting at the same time and using far more essence than he needs to which isn't good when he needs to summon his Sacred shades. In regards to not fighting how he used to, this is a situation that he needs to use his shades in since they seem to share a bit of a hive mind.

Again, it would be much easier for him to move on his own/with her than with his entire army at once. He should just dismiss his shadows and get as close as possible to the center before resummoning them. All he's doing is tiring himself out before the truly big battles. And I'm not sure where this fear of feeding things to mimic came from. He's never feared mimic being corrupted before. The only difference is these guys are immortal. I'd argue they'll just be an infinite source of food atp. Mimic can them make a theoretical infinite amount of soul coins(forgot the real name) to help jet replenish her reserves.

As I've stated before, if he does that, hes going to f#cking die, you are vastly overestimating his power level if you think he could survive being sieged on all sides by an army of immortal nightmare creatures that are all at minimum at great rank. And if you think he wouldn't be spotted, you're overestimating his stealth capabilities.

I agree that he's outmatched in terms of battle without his shades only because he can't permanently kill them. If they were mortal he'd be fine(in relative terms) especially with five incarnations. I do think his stealth is weakened because of his shadow sense being muted but he should still be plenty capable of hiding from most of the lower level creatures like what he was fighting against before. Ever since being a sleeper his stealth has been stellar and relatively undetectable from those of the same rank as him. He now also has a will and other tools at his disposal that he can likely use to hide his presence even more. Problems obviously arise when encountering special entities with superior detection and those of higher rank. If he is discovered though, I am confident in his ability to escape. We also have to consider that once you get to a certain threat level, it doesn't matter if he's alone or has his shades, he would die just as quickly if he encounters say an unholy being. His shades are only there to stall for time against enemies who he should be just as capable of avoiding. All I'm saying is he should conserve his energy until he gets closer.

And he is now supreme. As he said before, he can kill great creatures in seconds. This should also apply to his stealth skills considering he has his own will he can use to hide himself. Unless they have a unique detection ability, he should be capable of hiding from them just like he has been able to hide from most creatures of similar rank to himself. It is indeed a crutch for him to be in unfamiliar territory and with a limited shadow sense, but you have to consider how large his senses are and how even though they are limited, they still likely extend a great distance. His limitations are only relative and he should still have plenty of distance to work with. Sure it's inconvenient, but considering the effort he'll likely have to employ to carve his way through, I think it's the more efficient option especially considering how much more difficult it'll likely get the further he goes towards the center.

Great rank with no soul core means any great rank beast and above with at least 1 soul core or more can toy with them easily. Sunny's got an abundance of shades that can handle those. Currently him alone is 5 soverign titans which I think is overkill for Eternal City. He's not giving them any chances whatsoever. An unholy though, that would be a different ballgame. He can kill them in seconds cause they’re mindless and fall for the basics, I never had that firm of a grasp on his Shadow Sense so I won’t bother to offer an insight but I doubt unfamiliar territory would bother Sunny that much so I’ll chalk that up to interference and I feel like eating the immortals and putting them to sleep would be the better option- we’d have to see how it goes but the others still need Storm Gods lineage and treasures(if storm god was a hoarder) and these guys are effectively meat shields, testing dummies- we’d have to see other chapters to see how this plays out

So essentially abandon all caution. Might as well ask him to go straight to the shadow realm.

Bro how did you come to that conclusion?? I'm literally saying he should be MORE cautious. He's literally marching with an entire army towards the enemy and is just exhausting himself before he gets to the real battles. He himself said that this is nothing yet. Their on the outer edges of the city where barley any of the abominations are. The farther he gets the more difficult it'll be for his army. What I'm saying he should do is ignore the ones he doesn't have to fight and get as close as possible to conserve strength. If he does indeed end up facing something like a cursed one, there's no point even having his army besides stalling the lesser minions. Why waist them here? And if he's gonna die, he'll die with or without them because something that strong won't bother with them anyway

Getting frustrated eh? I admire G3 but some chapters are genuinely just filler(like a certain someone making their way to Effie’s estate for three chapters) so I recommend just stalk pilling for a couple of months or weeks. Whatever made you interested to read 2k chapters of Shadow Slave aren’t being shown rn so come again next time!

I agree. But isn't everything in this life a filler? We eat our slice of cake to fill our bellies. We drink tea to fulfill our quencing thirst. We filll our minds with filler episodes of Shadow Slave.
It all depends on how you percieve the world if its just another filler towards death or you enjoy the entire journey. You either live your life as if you're truly, really alive, or you slowly die a little more every day.
