Chapter 270: The Abyssal Diver

The boat glided out several dozen meters, and it seemed only twenty or thirty meters remained to the shore.

From the reef-covered shore opposite, a group of burly, broad-shouldered men suddenly charged out.

After glancing at them, the leader didn't waste words, simply waving his hand.

These men raised the crossbows in their hands and fired at the boat.

"Damn!" Liu Ze's pupils contracted. Without hesitation, he dropped the oar, flipped over, and jumped into the sea.

A dense rain of arrows covered the spot where he had just been.

Arrows fell like rain, thudding dully against the wooden planks.

The two men rowing at the front didn't even have time to speak before being riddled with arrows like sieves.

In the back row, Pu Jia, who had hidden behind someone else's body, stared at the iron-plated wooden shield he had raised. Even the look in his eyes became much clearer.

One arrow after another pierced through the iron-plated shield, getting stuck in it. If the kinetic energy had been just a little greater, they would have penetrated the shield directly.

"Screw your mother! Good thing I brought a shield before setting out."

Pu Jia looked at the crowd on the shore and hurriedly shouted, "Boss! I surrender! I surrender! I can lead the way! I know the locations of all the buildings inside the building! I'm useful!"

"Keep shooting." Jia Liangcai waved his hand expressionlessly.

A second volley of arrows descended.

Pu Jia crouched on the boat, shrinking behind his shield.

He grunted as an arrow struck exactly where he was holding the shield, piercing his right hand.

Cold sweat broke out on Pu Jia's forehead. Seeing that the other side wasn't giving him a way out, he immediately began spewing profanities, cursing everything he could think of.

"!!"

The shield shook violently, as if struck by a giant hammer. In that instant, an intense pain erupted from his chest.

Pu Jia was flung backward, landing heavily on the boat.

With great effort, he lowered his head to look at his chest. A thick crossbow bolt was embedded there. He then looked at the shield, which now had a gaping hole smashed through it.

A flash of understanding passed through his eyes.

"Damn... you guys have some decent gear..."

With that, he closed his eyes.

On the shore, Li Yue, who had been lying prone, stood up and triumphantly raised his Ghost Gold one-handed heavy crossbow. "Practical test results are good."

Zou Jianghe looked at the object in Li Yue's hand with disbelief. Did that iron-plated wooden shield just get blasted open?

And this seems to be an individual weapon?

He walked over, wanting to ask, but Li Yue didn't even glance at him. Just holding his heavy crossbow, he walked away cheerfully, completely ignoring him.

"Mr. Jia." Zou Jianghe gave a bitter smile and walked over, wanting to greet Jia Liangcai.

Jia Liangcai glanced at him. "President Zou, immediately have people secure the perimeter of the island reef. We need to confirm the location of the person who jumped into the sea."

Zou Jianghe was silent for a moment, then nodded. "Alright."

After Jia Liangcai and the Qin Alliance members dispersed, Zhang Bo finally came over from behind. "President Zou, I went to notify the Qin Alliance people earlier, but it seems they were prepared in advance. They just charged out with a group directly."

"I know," Zou Jianghe said irritably. Do you have to tell me?

The fight was practically over.

"Search! Fan out to the surrounding reefs, confirm that person's location." Jia Liangcai waved his hand, and the team spread out in all directions.

Zou Jianghe watched the dispersing crowd, his gaze somewhat dazed.

These people... they don't seem to be the Qin Alliance's main force, right?

He saw some among them still wearing the blacksmith's apron, others with hammers hanging from their waists.

"Go, spread out around. Report immediately if you find any trace of that person." Zou Jianghe issued the order to the Alliance members who had just arrived.

Beside the island reef, behind a rocky outcrop, Liu Ze hid. His body rose and fell with the ebb and flow of the tide. He clung desperately to the reef wall, trying his best to stabilize himself.

He opened his nostrils, continuously inhaling.

His lungs were like bottomless pits, frantically absorbing oxygen from the air.

On his shoulder, slightly lower, an arrow was embedded. Blood flowed from the wound, spreading through the seawater around him.

He felt deeply aggrieved.

He, a mighty superhuman, had been forced to this state by a bunch of ordinary mortals.

Even though he had taken the simplest route to ascend to superhuman, he firmly believed the top two tiers of difficulty were simply not meant to be completed.

It was absolutely impossible for anyone to break through at the second or third tier difficulty.

That was definitely just a pie in the sky this damned Home had drawn for them.

Under the sea, a saltwater crocodile caught the scent of blood. It turned and began chasing towards the source.

"Not good." Liu Ze sensed the movement; he heard the disturbance from underwater.

Now, a crocodile in front, pursuers behind.

A flash of decisiveness crossed his eyes.

It's all or nothing.

Liu Ze took out a starry-night-black metal card from his chest. A flicker of painful reluctance passed through his eyes.

He crushed the card.

"Roar!"

From a nearby reef came the roar of a lion.

A brown lion, covered in thick fur and nearly four meters long, appeared on the reef.

The sudden appearance of the lion not only attracted the saltwater crocodile's attention but also caused exclamations of surprise from the island reef.

"There's a lion over there!"

"How could a lion suddenly appear here?"

Seizing this opportunity, Liu Ze took a deep dive, plunging into the sea.

The saltwater crocodile, briefly startled by the suddenly appearing cave lion, then continued pursuing Liu Ze.

In its eyes, this prey exuding the scent of blood seemed more attractive.

Liu Ze cursed inwardly. He quickly gave the cave lion an order to chase the crocodile, to create an opportunity for him.

The cave lion was somewhat afraid of water. It hesitated on the reef for a moment, then let out a low roar, leaped into the sea, and splashed up a huge wave.

The saltwater crocodile swung its tail. It sensed this approaching thing was quite large, forcing it to switch prey.

The lion and crocodile began battling in the sea, but the cave lion, poor at swimming, was practically delivering itself as a meal to the crocodile. The crocodile bit its leg and began a frantic death roll in the water.

The commotion here attracted many people.

At the edge of the crowd, Jia Liangcai watched the scene below, lost in thought. Then his gaze followed the sea's surface, looking towards the other side of the reef.

After whispering some instructions to Li Yue behind him, he took a portion of the people and hurried towards the other side.

The edge of the island reef was turbulent with waves.

The eastern side of the island reef had particularly strong winds and waves today.

But beside the reef, there was no one.

"He's not on this side." Jia Liangcai frowned. "Could he stay submerged in the water the whole time? Does he also possess a treasure that allows underwater breathing?"

......

"Hah—luckily my superhuman path is the Abyssal Diver. My underwater breath-holding time far exceeds normal people's. You ordinary folks will never understand the power of a superhuman."

Liu Ze slowly emerged from the water. He had actually circled a long way around, arriving directly near the tidal flats used for beachcombing. He took off his upper garment, revealing his bare torso, and stepped onto the sandy beach, heading towards the residential complex ahead.

Those people would never imagine he could swim this far and then walk over from the tidal flats.

Among the surrounding crowd, many people, disliking the hot weather and for the convenience of entering the water, weren't wearing clothes.

So he didn't stand out.

As long as he could enter the residential complex, he could activate the Anchor Point.

Closer... closer...

The smile on Liu Ze's face grew brighter and brighter. He climbed onto the reef and reached the main gate of the complex.

Someone nearby glanced at him, seeing his striking red hair, and seemed somewhat suspicious.

Not far away, Zhang Bo turned his head. He looked at Liu Ze, his eyes widening, and raised a finger to point.

Further away, Li Yue emerged from around a corner. He looked up, somewhat surprised, then raised the Ghost Gold one-handed crossbow in his hand.

Liu Ze brought his hands together and began sprinting at full speed. His streamlined muscles erupted with powerful explosive force.

Like an agile leopard, he sprinted all the way, charging into the residential complex.

"He's over there!" a loud shout came from behind.

"He's coming up!"

"Stop him!"

Voices came from all around.

But Liu Ze's face wore an unstoppable grin. "Hahahaha."

I'm in! You still let me get in!

"Anchor Point! Activate!" Liu Ze roared, his voice nearly a scream.

An illusory, crimson ship's anchor materialized out of thin air, like a giant claw reaching up from the deep sea.

It smashed down onto the open ground within the complex.

Ripples spread out in layers around it.

[Warning: An Anchor Point is attempting to lock onto the residential complex.]

A sharp alert tone sounded simultaneously in the ears of everyone within the entire complex.

The next second, the sound softened.

[Anchor Point has been eliminated.]

Then, in front of everyone, this crimson anchor flickered twice, like an unwilling fish, turned, and twisted back, disappearing.

All that remained was Liu Ze, standing bare-chested on the open ground of the complex, his expression gradually turning to one of utter stupefaction.

......
