Chapter 163: Limit Break Card

After both parties reached a cooperation agreement, Zou Jianghe quickly sent people over to take away all the adult Mononykus, along with three of the juvenile Young Mononykus for experimentation.

Compared to adult individuals, juveniles are easier to tame, but their combat power is too weak, which might lead to no one buying them. Their growth requires time, and there might not be a market for them.

Qin Ziwen informed the team members about this deal. "If they are successfully tamed, you can apply to adopt one and take it home to build a bond. These tamed adult Mononykus are considered collective assets of the guild."

"Captain, you're the best!" Yuan Ming cheered. "Haha, does this mean I can ride a dinosaur too?"

Cao Biansheng snickered. "With your weight, you'd better forget it. I'm afraid you'd crush it to death with your backside."

Yuan Ming was furious. "I've already lost weight down to 170 pounds now! This is called being robust. In ancient times, I'd have the physique of a great general."

Cao Biansheng clicked his tongue. "But the poor Mononykus only weighs about ten pounds. It would have to bear a weight far beyond its size."

"The Mononykus really is too small to be suitable as a mount. To carry a person while running, it would need to weigh at least two to three hundred kilograms to be appropriate," Wang Yun said regretfully.

"If we encountered a carnivorous dinosaur weighing two to three hundred kilograms in the wild, it would be the one riding me," Yuan Dajun laughed.

"Are any of you going to adopt these little Mononykus?"

Everyone shook their heads. These little dinosaurs were both irritable and constantly screeching.

On the way back, they kept squawking like a bunch of ducks. Plus, they need to eat meat.

Taking one home would be like raising a little ancestor. Dinosaurs are more fun when other people are raising them.

"Alright." Qin Ziwen locked the remaining ten Young Mononykus into the Beast Cage.

Compared to the adults, the young dragons were much smaller in size and caused less disturbance to the rabbits and field mice than the adults did.

The previously somewhat restless little dinosaurs noticeably calmed down a lot after being locked in the Beast Cage.

But they were still somewhat curious about their neighbors next door, glancing over from time to time.

After exiting the Beast Cage, Du Yu was already waiting on the Platform within the Martial Training Ground.

"Sir, let's begin."

"Wait a moment." Qin Ziwen said, then took out an Animal Enhancement Card and chose to use it on the Crowned Eagle.

The Crowned Eagle was enveloped in light.

Du Yu's expression remained unchanged.

Even before being enhanced, the Crowned Eagle was already considered a top-tier bird of prey.

A giant eagle with a wingspan of over five meters already had an intimidating presence, and now it was being enhanced further?

Wang Yun stopped to watch, also curious. Would the Crowned Eagle, with its continuously expanding size, grow to the size of an Argentavis or a Quetzalcoatlus?

The light continued to expand, only approaching a stop when the wingspan reached about eight meters wide.

A flicker of regret passed through Wang Yun's eyes. It seemed it was the size of an Argentavis after all, still unable to exceed the ten-meter wingspan class.

When the light faded, compared to its original form, the Crowned Eagle with its wingspan expanded to eight meters had a more streamlined physique.

Compared to before, its head seemed "smaller."

Qin Ziwen stepped forward to compare and found that the Crowned Eagle's head had not actually become smaller; instead, it was slightly larger than before. It was just that because the wings had become wider, the head appeared smaller visually.

Additionally, its chest cavity had become deeper, and its claws had become shorter... The Crowned Eagle lifted its right foot and gave a slight shake. Five matte-black curved blades snapped out.

Another shake, and the sharp claws retracted, leaving only a small section exposed.

It seemed it had also evolved an ability similar to felines, allowing it to retract its claws.

"Let's go!"

Du Yu said calmly, "Sir, sometimes bigger size doesn't necessarily mean more advantage, especially indoors."

Sure enough, during the following sparring match, because the Home had a height limit of five meters, the Crowned Eagle's performance was restricted everywhere. On the Platform, not only could it not utilize its aerial advantage, it instead became a target.

After being poked several times, the Crowned Eagle grew increasingly irritable. In the end, it simply endured the long spear thrusts and forcefully shoved Du Yu off the Platform.

After leaving the Platform, because injuries couldn't be healed, Du Yu stopped attacking.

But Qin Ziwen also noticed some issues from this. Although the Crowned Eagle had an intimidating eight-meter wingspan, its actual weight wasn't exaggerated, being less than three hundred pounds.

So relying on sheer tonnage to crush enemies was impossible. Its real advantage still lay in being an aerial unit.

Leveraging its ability to fly, it could scout, harass, and suppress prey weighing less than itself.

Qin Ziwen took it to an open area in the Gobi Desert outside the residential complex.

He wanted to test if the Crowned Eagle could carry him while flying.

First, riding on the Crowned Eagle's back.

Qin Ziwen climbed onto the Crowned Eagle's back. The Crowned Eagle glanced smugly at the Mongolian Horse nearby.

Then its wings flapped. Qin Ziwen could feel a lifting force beneath him, supporting him upward.

But this lifting force quickly disappeared.

The Crowned Eagle paused for two seconds.

Then the Crowned Eagle, carrying him, ran forward a few steps, flapping its wings.

"We're off the ground!"

Qin Ziwen felt weightless as the surrounding scenery sank downward.

Delight flashed in his eyes.

But after gliding only a dozen meters, the Crowned Eagle suddenly lost control and crashed toward the ground diagonally ahead.

Qin Ziwen timely flipped backward and jumped off. Fortunately, the height wasn't great, only about three to four meters.

After losing the weight on its back, the Crowned Eagle flapped its wings, adjusted its posture in time to avoid a crash landing, skimmed the ground, and soared into the sky.

"No good. It still feels a bit too much of a stretch." Qin Ziwen frowned. He could sense that the most difficult part was actually the moment of takeoff. And after taking off, the Crowned Eagle also had trouble adjusting its altitude.

What if he grabbed the Crowned Eagle's claws from a high place and descended from the sky? Could he glide to the ground like holding a paraglider?

This thought flashed through his mind but was quickly dismissed.

There was no need to take that risk.

Besides, the Crowned Eagle wasn't incapable of further improvement.

He took out the [Breakthrough Card] Limit Breakthrough Card, which was the card obtained during yesterday's settlement.

[Breakthrough Card] Limit Breakthrough Card: Can be used on any ordinary individual that has reached their limit. After use, three random challenge tasks of varying difficulty will appear. Completing the limit challenge allows the individual to break through their limits!

Currently in the Home, those who could use this card were himself, Du Yu, and the Crowned Eagle.

In terms of overall personal capability, Du Yu probably had the highest chance of success.

But giving it to the Crowned Eagle should also be good. After all, the Crowned Eagle is an animal, not a human. It's difficult for it to learn techniques and improve. Right now, it has almost reached its limit.

As for himself... Although the card doesn't explicitly state the benefits of completing the three random challenge tasks of different difficulties, since the difficulties differ, the rewards must also differ.

If he could obtain one Breakthrough Card, there's a chance to get a second one. Let Du Yu and the others try first, to familiarize themselves with the task difficulty.

After pondering for a moment, Qin Ziwen decided to consult the opinions of the Crowned Eagle and Du Yu.

"Break through limits... I'll go first!" Du Yu said decisively. "Humans and animals are different. The Crowned Eagle's experience might not be a useful reference for you, sir. I have reached my limit and am currently at my peak. Moving forward from here is only going against the current. It's better to try and advance further now."

Using it on the eagle would be good, but using it on a subordinate before him is kind of idiotic.

It's all well and good that strengthening your best warrior is very important, but personal strength greatly increases your survival in a life-threatening crisis.

But they're all as weak as cockroaches.
No one has superhuman power or strength.
But you have to kill dinosaurs using arrows and spears, they're ridiculously weak, it's about time they got a power-up in personal strength.
