The person whom the world revolves around.

The person who defeats all of his opponents, and ultimately gets the beautiful girl.

The sole existence all villains fear.

That is the protagonist.

What about me?

As a failed author who had only one success throughout his whole career, I had reincarnated into my late novel.

«This is it»

I thought, as I tightly clenched my fist.

Did I just get reincarnated in my own novel?

Is this where I reincarnate in a novel and become the protagonist?

No.

Sadly it’s not that kind of novel, as I reincarnated as a mob.

The world doesn’t revolve around me.

The girls don’t come flocking towards me.

The cheat items don’t come to me.

«Phew»

I let out a sigh of relief.

«Thank god I’m not the protagonist»

I joyfully shouted as tears streamed down my cheeks.

Wait, are you curious as to why I don’t want to be the protagonist?

I did forget to mention the most important thing when I was describing a protagonist.

That is…

They are calamity magnets.

I just died. If I learned something from that, it’s that it really isn’t a pleasant experience.

If possible let me live a long stable life.

Thank you, whoever reincarnated me.

I would later come to regret these words…

***

Reader Disclaimer:

There are two MCs in this story.
1. The original MC of the novel
2. The author that transmigrates in the novel
In the beginning, the author plays the role of an extra with no ambition other than quietly waiting for the story to end. He is almost like a babysitter that watches over the plotline, however, this will only be in the first 40 chapters or so as he will soon be dragged into the plotline regardless of how much he doesn’t want to.

The MC may come off as someone that has no ambition in the beginning but as the story progresses it will change

Also, there may be a bit of info-dumping at the beginning of the novel (at least the first 30 chapters), but there shouldn’t be anymore in the following chapters. Well…being a new author I may end up doing it again. If I do so please do criticize me and scold me. If you don’t scold me how am I supposed to improve the story? What’s great about writing web novels is that I actually can hear your advice and opinions. You are just as much invested in this story as I am, so please help me out.

Well…I would appreciate it if you don’t leave a one star…not that I can stop you

Also, yes, the novel is inspired by TNE (The novel’s extra) you may see a lot of similarities in the beginning, but for future chapters the differences will start to become more apparent. I hope you manage to stick through it. Also, don’t come reading this expecting it to be another TNE. In fact don’t compare the two. If you do, the flaws of this book will become more apparent as you read ruining the whole experience Collapse

Honestly, Im not that great in voicing out the reasons on why I have problems with or why i like a certain a certain story. I just know what i like and what i dont. And for me, there's nothing amazing with the story that genuinely makes me want to keep reading and begging for the next chapter. Plotholes are everywhere. Also it kind of feel likes the power of everyone isnt that different? The fights are boring similar to Throne of Magical Arcana, but at least here they are actually fighting instead of artifacts deciding on who wins. It's a story to read when you are bored and dont have something else to read. I rate 6-10

I feel you, man. I don't understand what all this hype is about. The story is not all that fascinating in terms of plot; world-building is ok, and the characters are not that great imo. One of my biggest problems is that the author made a fcking op skill the lowest rank so that Mc could get it early. In addition, some story developments make me cringe (like the first few times he started using the chess analogies, acting like some 10th-dimensional mastermind when he's just making simple plots, the CRINGE ARGHHH). I think this story is not for me

There is hype for this story for a very good reason. All the things you’ve listed are not random, and on purpose.
You and the other guy just haven’t gotten to the part where all dots are connected and everything is explained.
Tbh, I’m kind of lazy to explain. So,
You can either drop and never find out why there is hype for the story, or just continue reading.
        Either way, it’s your choice.

Hype for this novel keeps from beginning when it was straight copy of the novel's extra. And fans keep talking that not fans should read till latest chaps to get hype.
When will it come to end you guys will say that we should read till end to get it?
I was get baited this "you don't reach right part" two times but it's still just ok-average novel for me.

Well, I got told the same thing for LOTM and after 200 parts I enjoyed it. The beginning was quite frankly extremely boring as the author would spend paragraph describing bills and forniture.

So I really don’t understand your argument.

Lotm has only one 'barrier' in the end of arc 1 and it's only about 120 (10% of novel). Moreover this 'boring' parts is worldbuilding.
This one you should read till 'latest chapters'. More chapters released more chapter we should read and time we should get hype everytime changed. Right now you talk us to read entire novel with 550+ chaps to understand why this one is masterpiece but not okish. And this 550+ not plane worldbuilding or smth it's already half of story.
So i got question: Do you (and others) will continue talk about reading till latest chapters even when it will be ended? Because right now look like you will do.

i was talk not about only you but about most of fans of this novel and i pointed it many times.

If you want qoute your words, that's it:
You and the other guy just haven’t gotten to the part where all dots are connected and everything is explained.

So where this right part where everything connected? It's not straight "latest chaps" but still have meaning like this. Just like "You still don't feel masterpiece? Read more! Don't get it so far? You don't read enough!".
And this "part where everything connected" move far and far with every new chapter author write. That's my point. Lotm about 150, WMW about 300 and so and so but this one doesn't have even approximate number when novel go boom and become really interesting. And i talk not about today but also month before and half year before. Answers didn't change from appearing novel on this site.

The dots connect at least 200 chapters before the lastest chapters so i have no idea what you are talking about.
that's my point. Lotm about 150, WMW about 300 and so and so but this one doesn't have even approximate number when novel go boom and become really interesting.

Not much of a point when everyone has different points.
I can say chapter 70, some can say chapter 1, some other chapter 250, and so on.
For me LOTM is the most boring at around 150 and only at 200 does it start becoming good.

Also, my point was reffering to the previous points the other guy made. All I said that the problems he found were explained later and not random. Whether he read it or not, I dont' care. Didn't you literally see me tell him to drop it if he didn't have the patience to get to the part where all is explained?

Let me explain so you understand.

Filling a plot hole in a future chapter isn't "connecting dots" it's simply damage control.

The novel is morbidly lacking in subtlety and the "plot twists" are so in your face and contrived that I fear for the people who read it and say "peak".

In novels with actual plot twists, LOTM or SS for example, you notice there is a space for the discrepancy and the world operates as such that you know something is definitely amiss. You can feel that there's a discovery somewhere, you just have to wait to find it, which makes the experience fulfilling.

Here however....well, it's simply trash. I'm not one to put much stock in the evaluation skills of Webnovel readers, but the amount of people who call this thing peak makes it even harder

to be fair I am going to quote my favourite youtuber.
you don't have to reach 100hours/chapters to get to the good stuff, if beginning is shit then story is not good either.

I did read this story a lot in the beginning but then it kind of wore me down so I get what the people above are saying, story and plot is good, but is quite monotonous so if you try to binge it can just be boring, I tried picking it up again but after few chapters I decided to stop as it was not really worth it.

did you not read to the latest chapter? you only keep reading to make sense of things but it gets too convoluted, and i dropped it when both mc becomes unhinged.

There is no greater plan, that is just a long term bait while a sub npc is causing unrelated issues, a subtle manipulated conscious, every character except for Donna maybe is unhinged.

its a potluck pot misfortune chaotic mess for word count. just so you can read on to untie this deadknot mess or until the story flips the table.

It would be even worst if you tell ppl its by design, "bad writing" wouldnt even cover half of it.

If you read the second part of his message, it says something about all of his problems being explained and everything being revealed (which is true)
If you have watched death note, then a good reference would be when Light forgets his memory.
People say that those parts aren’t the best, but at the end of the day, it was all build up for the climax, which is where the story is atm.

You really can't compare this to death note.

its been a while since I came in contact with it
But lets try, I believe in Death Note, what you get is a good beginning and story build-up with nothing too confusing or messed up and then you get a twist and also good middle part and build-up.

Here you get shit beginning, worse middle part and even more confusing plotlines and in the end you guys are telling us it leads up to some big reveal ?

You have to understand that all that 400-500 chapters of mediocrity is not really something I look forward to reading or spending my time on, even if there is some semi good conclusion to this. But what I hear from others who have read on its not even that great and confusion is still at galore.

So I once again say, no thanks I will take my time and life elsewhere. There are plenty of bad/good worse timewasters out there to read and look for.

PS. I know I over exaggerated by saying that this novel is shit and so on, but I was just trying to make my point. It is not as bad as I made it out to be, but it isn't good nor just worth my time either.

character building and setting is fine but there is a major writing flaw on creating drama in the novel. There isnt a proper setup, climax, denuement, the story srarts off as any other novel and it slowly draws you into a mire of strife and insanity. setups and issues popping up like weeds, and climaxes appearing in setups and endings. the dramas piles up constantly with no real conclusions. To the point you realize that this happens because every character becomes unhinged at some point, including the main characters. yes its so convoluted that you can argue this book has 2 mcs. They are both insane.

    (updated as I read)
Author says that first 40 chapters were rough, he's right. I'm reading chapter 22 rn and he speaks to someone about a deal, it's one of those tropes where he "shocks" the person he's speaking with through some antics. He says "it takes 1 hour for him (the one he's speaking to) to regain his composure" . . . wtf was he doing for an hour? Was he just waiting there looking at the other dude?

    Yeah, start is really rough.

    UPDATE 1:
It's chapter 50 now, and the MC is still a bit of an imbecile (but it's a bit forced, like the author wants him to act like that not because he is an idiot but because the author wants to establish something even though forced).

Not to the extent where it's unreadable but your millage may vary, I'll try to update when it gets good. rn it's been incredibly mediocre.

    UPDATE 2:
This novel is full of attempts. Attempts to make the mc have "organic growth", attempts to make the mc have character development, attempts to make mc look cool, attempts to make the mc be smart, attempts to make a nemesis type villain. Lots of attempts. Does the author succeed? I don't think so, but the author doesn't fail so badly that you'll quit the novel.

The writing is kinda getting better tho, bit by bit. Maybe after another hundred chapter it'll be a better reading experience. rn, there's a lot of poorly executed attempts at certain things.

    UPDATE 3: (chapter 400)
So the writing does get better (I don't mean the story or the plot but the writing in general). While I stand by my previous statement that there's a LOT of "attempts" here with questionable execution, it's also undeniable that the author is improving immensely. The first parts of the book are definitely unrecognizable compared to the recent ones.

Based on Chapter 558, my thoughts are :

    1) Characters: All of the main gang and MC (author) have unique and distinct personalities, each with their own seperate goals so they don't stick together unnecessarily.

    2) Power structure: Fleshed out early on, using the the alphabetical ranking format, namely; SSS, SS, S, A, B, C, D, E, F and G, G being the lowest rank.

Each individual rank is divided into 3 minor realms, for example in S rank; S+, S, and S-, S- being the initial realm, S being mid, and S+ being peak.

All humans have access to a status panel like a system that shows them their stats, including their genetic potential (max rank attainable) which is usually unchangeable and absolute unless in extremely rare circumstances.

    3) World building: Pretty good, with non human races like Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, and demons, demons being the common enemy to all races.

The human society is set in a futuristic setting, with a proper modern government controlling humanity, though you have strong private families calling themselves 'nobles' and some abusing their powers , which the government may or may not care about depending on the usefulness of the victim.

Their world does have dungeons that pop up and guilds to control them, but the story mainly revolves around Human VS Human rather than PVE.

    4) MC's 'self insert' aspect into his own novel is done fairly well, with MC trying not to mess with his original storyline as much as possible.

    5) Romance: Done well for both the MC (author) and the novel MC (protagonist), being well paced and realistic considering they are not even 22 years old yet, so they have better things to do then worrying about their love life, considering humanity is facing extinction.

Also none of that garbage forced romance due to being drugged and forced to do 'it' to save the female partners.

Considering their society is based on a modern western style society, romance is formed on the modern western dating style, with no arranged marriage drama, at least for the main gang.

SIDE NOTE: I can't say more without going into spoiler territory.
