The Reincarnated Villain Makes The Heroines Tearfully Beg for Forgiveness反派：九世轮回，让女主哭求原谅

So here's my review after reading the first 27 translated chapters and then the remaining 200'ish Chinese chapters.

This is a somewhat atypical "white washing" novel. To those of you who don't know what that is, then it's a niche genre in Chinese novels, where the transmigrated protagonist has to right the villains wrongs. I.e., turn the evil villain good - thus the "white washing".
The reason I'm stating that it's atypical is due to the way that the story is setup where the story is basically indirectly told over the course of 2 days. Yes, you read that right, the first 200 chapters take place over 2 days.

Let's just say, that there are plenty of plot twists, and there have been a few times where I've been thinking "how the hell can you even begin to white wash such a stain and unspeakable act" but the author ends up pulling it off nonetheless.

Needless to say, the best reactions in this novel are the so-called "heroines" as they learn of the sacrifice and the hidden truth behind the villains actions. Not everything was as simple as was believed, and the gradual emotional transition, that the heroines go through, from hate and loathing to guilt, despair, and grief, has a twisted sense of sadistic cathartic pleasure to it. Even better is the fake-protagonist, who constantly tries to rationalize and get into the pants of the heroines, which is like reading about a jumping fool. You can't help but sneer and feel utter disdain at his attempts at "conquering" the women.

With that said, you can tell that there's a fair bit of character development and the author has also planned out a good deal of the character backgrounds, history, and interactions before putting it on paper - and this has lead to an engaging story. Characters don't feel typically shallow like they do in other cookie cutter Chinese novels, and you also learn more about their history and personality as the story unfolds.

The pacing is odd at times. Sometimes, you can have 15-20 chapters on a single small event, while at others you're basically jumping 100's of years.
Despite that, and the fact that the first 200 chapters take place over 2-3 days, the story actually feels pretty fast paced -
But nevertheless, the pacing and arcs are nicely divided, where you reach the first major conclusion at chapter 100, and the second major conclusion at around chapter 200.


So let's talk romance, you might imagine that with 10 heroines and a potential harem, that there would be some romance? Yea, nope. Character interactions are mainly between the side characters themselves, but not much with the MC - at least not until after chapter 200. There are plenty "moments" though, but the MC seems reluctant towards love - just like any other stereotypical male Chinese MC. I mean, heroes die in the bossom of a woman, right? Right?! sigh Daoist monks are gynophobic virgins.

Anyways, spelling and grammar in this translation is good. No major egregious grammar or spelling mistakes that make the novel irksome.
World building is pretty standard for a Chinese xianxia novel - which means that it's definitely lackluster (except for some of the world history). Only a few places aee explored by the reader in the novel - and none of them really made an impression on me. In other words, it was generic "Heavenly palace", "standard lame Chinese starter village #1", "3 empires, where you only learn the name of the capital of one them", etc. You get it, right?
So all in all, the author has definitely slacked on the world building, in order to focus his efforts on the characters' history, development, and interactions. But that bet paid off, if I should say so.

In conclusion (this is the tl;dr part), in this novel, you'll get decent white washing novel set in a xianxia world, but told in a unique way. The plot that has plenty of twists and turns, and youll provably also get a good cathartic release and sense of schadenfreude from reading about the heroines' emotional upheaval.
