The story was good but I felt like it was going nowhere even after 400 chapters. There really wasn't any end goal, everything was just for survival

This is actually a great story to pass the time with. Would recommend to anyone who likes slow-paced but well written development novels. Also, the original link for the novel is

I understand the appeal of the story but if you really want to read it you gotta turn off the brain, I mean the decision making is very Fu#king stupid ok the part of the main character even when it comes to his family or his limits with them,

      - TL;DR | All works of fiction have moments of stupidity in them and as a reader, you either notice them or you don't. Upon noticing them you have two choices, you can either laugh them off and keep reading or you can let them dictate how you find enjoyment in your leisure time. You actually have other choices, just read the last part of my comment* -

As someone who read through this once, caught up, then let it build up some chapters to continue reading but then got sidetracked by other novels because I read numerous, and I do mean numerous, novels/comics(whether those be American, Japanese, Korean, or otherwise) at the same time. I felt forced to read the ln again.

While I do agree with you about some of the stupidity that occurs in this novel. All novels have some form of stupidity, you won't find a single novel where you don't get that. If you think you know of a (few) novel(s) where you believe that doesn't happen, then, by all means, do share it/them. But I must say if you're 'turning your brain off' to read anything, then it is going to be a lot worse than it actually is because you'll have no context when it comes to important parts.

I can sympathize with your review, as I used to be turned off by the simplest errors and plotholes in novels/comics. While it does still irritate me, I do my best to turn the other cheek unless the novel/comic itself reaches a certain bar. Then I drop it because I value my time, after all, it is a scarce resource for us mortals.

For example, when you mentioned about
. The first thing I thought of was how you're probably one of those readers who likes it when the MC is the emotional equivalent of a dead fish. This doesn't mean you are, this is just what I thought.

Now, I'm going to assume that, as you've all but stated, you turned your brain off while reading this. So I'd like to ask

I presume you believe yourself to be a rather logical and rational individual, but what is so illogical about what I mentioned above? Isn't it everyone's desire to protect when they cherish most?

As for the last part of your review, allow me to address it here

*When pointing out things like "If you did it this way then you would get that" most people seem to forget that everyone thinks differently. Yes, if the mc kills all the villains instead of letting them live then there should be fewer problems down the line. But for starters, I'm not the MC and the world of the MC revolves around the MC. Unless there are situations that require otherwise for plot development, every single side and background character are little more then Yes Men. But anyway, the simple answer to the 'other option' is just that the MC, or in most cases the author, didn't realize that option.

This is why creative writing is important, because where most authors say "You only have two options! A or B" that is never the case and it should be something along these lines instead "There are only 2 obvious options at the moment". This allows for further character development and creates a more relatable and engageable MC for readers

His "stupidity" can be link to his previous life.

1 - He used to really lack any kind of love. He brush it off each time as if this wasn't a big deal but his tendency to never focus on it actually tells a lot. So he despairly want his family safe now.

2 - He obviously knows about ants and their survivability and willingness to sacrifice for their queen, yet he still gives them what little he have to eat and didn't even blink when he consider that they may have eaten his body in the end. I can see steadfast responsibility, unfathomable lvl of care, willingness to sacrifice and a mental of steel. Did you ever fast just for a day? Imagine dying of hunger. This is stupid in so many level but not the bad kind of stupid.
