Rise of The Anti God by Resurgent

To each their own, I made this account specifically to say if you're into the usual cultivation novels you shouldn't read this.

The start is ok, the first 50 chapters are not as fast paced, you're introduced to the MC, the world before, the world he's currently in, what's happening, it's not bad at all. Theres a good beginning event after the MCs transmigration that would hook you into reading a bit more chapters thinking that ok this has potential. MC is granted OP techniques and he's talented alright that's fine, that happens everywhere, who cares? At least the premise is interesting and the techniques given to him make him unique and could turn out into a cool story.

The problems come into this story with really the characters and how events unfold. The times where MC actually shows his power doesnt feel all too authentic. It's more of a display from a young adult girl saying, "look how cool this character is" rather than actually being smooth or heroic. Alot of the romance feels written by a young girl in her 20s envisioning her ideal man or a young man envisioning what girls who watched Twilight would like. The plot and storylines are alright I don't expect masterful writing but I do expect them to be a bit more exciting and not so easy to see through what the author would idealize. Damien the MC, seems more likely a bunch of traits and ideas, characteristics of you could say, wish fulfilment, to BE him or have someone like him, rather than Damien being a living breathing character.

The romance is...while not like other harem novels, is not much that different. It feels very one dimensional. Cliches are fine, this is a cultivation novel after all, yet it really just leaves a bad taste. At the very least there should be push and pull and there's a good energy between the two. What I'm reading between MC and his first wife to be is...so bland it's boring. It seems like a a very simple fairy tale love story that lacks any other real depth. 'This first girl isn't like other girls' yet she falls in love way too easily

I guess you could argue that a young teenage girls character should be just that, yet, it's boring. The MC pushes and everything falls into place much too easily in romance and in action. There's cultivation novels like this for sure, but at the very least they have your blood pumping. Despite being labelled as smart and capable, the MC is really not like that at all. It's better to not label MCs smart and capable because that would have to reflect in your writing and understand that, making a character come off as smart and capable is much harder than telling the reader that they are and watching them stumble through events with the brain of an average person despite being given so many tools and techniques.

And that's only the problems with the romance and characters.

I can excuse the way plots unfold simply because this is Xianxia and I can expect each story that unfolds to be a cliche. Though I really must tell you that this is more of a drama rather than a cultivation novel, that's why I tell you to stay away from this if it's not your thing. Let people enjoy what they enjoy. Cultivation in this novel is never thought out very well, that's usually the case when you give the MC, techniques and powerups that are much too powerful, why does he have to use his brain if he can just power through most things? Yet even the displays of power dont come off very satisfying after the first 10-20 chapters.

Cultivation in this novel is used as a tool to display how great and amazing the MC is than actually having a coherent power structure. Rules are either, forgotten, disregarded or changed, and this is really bad if you want any kind of tension and release.

Remember that this is just an opinion and if you genuinely enjoy this novel then pass on, however if you're like me then it might be best to pass this novel as it might not be what you're looking for.

Dropped at chapter 415 and I’ll tell you why.

So we can all decipher that this was inspired by ATG but you know Mr Writer wanted to show that it was very different while playing w the exact same troupes.

The MC is supposedly OP and ruthless and tact but I see 1/2 the time he just makes stupid mistakes devoid of common sense. Then goes on a rage moment to prove his power and schemes against the stronger. Hmmm wonder where I saw that one from…

The it carries on to info dump you soo hard it’s distasteful. The people reading these kinds of novels don’t need to be babied into understanding how cultivation novels are fleshed out so unless it’s done in a different and new way just don’t bother.

I’ll give it props that in the 1st 200 or so chapter my review would have been 4/5 stars but as the story progresses it deteriorates so it’s a 2.5/5 for me

Read and form your opinion of this but if you want an honest opinion pick up better novels

You want a change of pace with an MC and characters that doesn’t suck ass most of the novel then try Journey of a fate destroying emperor. Trust me it’s worth it even with the rare info dump there it’s actually building towards the story and not just the writers obvious intentions to drag out the story and make filler chapters because they felt obligated to drop chapters somewhat regularly

I’d rather I wait 2-3 days for a chapter that’s well thought out and engrossing than have a daily release of 60-70% boring content

I have read around 90 chap. But gota say to me mc looks may too stupid.
1)fight aginst people with almost 1 realm power diff to get a treasure?
I mean if it is a treasure u just pick it up and hide, why bother conversation with enemy and then wait for more powerful enemy to appear? If u cant just stealthly take the treasure then just kill weaker enemeies in fornt of you, why even bother talking with them?? Author seems to say mc is ruthless after suffering tragedy in intro.. so is that how should he act?
2)after getting some power up, mc have so much confidence that he need to check combat power so u hv to pit against more than 1 releam power diff.(his uncle)?? And get seriously injured. Cant he just wait to raise his power then target him?
3) he supposed to have devour type ability to increase powe fast. But what happened after first day of hunting? Where is fighting training against wolfs and then killing and storing their power for later power up.. it seems he goes forest to spend time with beast loli??!! Seriously?

If you like having a lot of unnecessary information thrown at you, this match is made in heaven.

A good number of the chapters explain something and then Damien says the same thing but dumb. (or the reverse) The characters are uninspired and plain along with nothing of interest to make me want to read anything involving them. Damien himself is supposed to have a tragic backstory and all sorts of pent-up aggression and teen angst, but he just seems to be really soy.

The world itself seems moderately interesting though.

I wouldn't give this novel anything over 3.5 stars
