Growing up with eccentric materialist parents, who left him in the care of his grandfather for a job overseas, Zhang Heng had learned to adapt and be unfettered by the oddities and challenges in life. But he would soon learn the baffling truth about the world he thought he knew, when one day at midnight, time froze and he found himself in a world so quiet and still it was deafening.

That night, he discovered that he had 24 hours more than everybody else and thus, marked the beginning of his adventures. The mysteries surrounding his newfound ability only deepened when a strange old man claimed to have given Zhang Heng that ‘gift of time’ and recruited the young man to participate in a cryptic ‘life-changing’ game on his behalf. Little did Zhang Heng know that accepting those terms meant embroiling himself in many versions of reality and exposing himself to the hidden secrets of the world a decision he could never undo. That means the novel is finished, while the translation is still ongoing. But as of now the translation is finished, and so is the novel.

Seems everyone here loves the novel, well except me. I was kinda expecting more fantasy type worlds and supernatural skills, but here we’ve got historical/mundane worlds where the MC learns normal skills anyone irl could eventually learn (hunting, fishing, shooting, cooking). Felt like I got clickbaited with the title and synopsis

I'm really exited about this. I'm waiting to finish reading the novel until all the chapters are out just in case webnovel does something f#cky. But I'm really looking forward to seeing this novel's conclusion. This is one of the few novels I've been semi-actively monitoring for this reason.

This novel is just SO DAMN GOOD. Hands down. It deserves more than this.
It's been a long time since I've read a novel from the very beginning straight to its latest chapter.
From wildlife to fighting the Russos, to the Caribbean, to the moon, to the most loved toy worlds, to London, to the late Edo period, to the wild west, to the past, then to the future. Honestly, it was a roller coaster.
The only flaw in this novel is that the author tends to make mistakes. Then he corrects them in an awkward way. Like how he rushed the 10 years Pirate arc. Or most of the time he delves too much into boring scenarios then ends it in a few paragraphs. Also, there ain't no romance despite all the girls thrown at the MC(This is a big minus for me). But that's it, I can somehow ignore this.
To me, this novel is a true hidden gem. It does not over-rely on power systems like most Chinese novels. It manipulates the plot in a good, thrilling way that just pulls you in. And you can't help but be immersed in it.
A protagonist doesn't have to wield darkness, space, or time just to be cool and badass. Sometimes, those who can drift cars, sail a ship, fly a jet, and ride a horse can turn anyone's view on how to be a chad. bond

It is not a novel that everyone will read.
If you didn't like it at first, I wouldn't recommend it if you're just reading out of curiosity.
There are many unanswered questions in the final
The event starts in the 100th episode, but the mystery is told in the 250th episode and 300th episode.(example)I cant stand it. to stories like this.author READ to us in an obligatory manner! says
    4/10

As I said, not everything is fully explained.
Some unnecessary springs make it boring
I read the first chapters with love, then when the host was called 'the chosen one', I immediately considered quitting. I read until the finale and I could not understand why I read it, the sense of curiosity in the first chapters remained in regret.
but if you like character development mcs power or something, read it otherwise it's unbearable. sometimes it's so boring
The finale did not satisfy me, it is a worthless novel for me.

I feel pretty confident the unanswered questions you mention are because you didn't actually finish the novel. At the time of your review here, the novel was not completely translated.

You know, interesting that you mention that, because in the very first chapter, the author specifically mentions a board game called "The Call of Cthulhu"...
