This is a time of great powers: The vast Persia, Sparta that was founded by force, Athens with its trade and business, Thebes the rising star, The ambitious Macedonia, The twin heroes of the Western Mediterranean, The rising Rome and so on.

This is an era of brilliant stars: Agesilaus II – the last king of Sparta, Epaminondas – the Rising General of Thebes, Philip II – the founder of Macedonian’s hegemon, Dionysius – the tyrant of Syracuse, Camillus – the Roman dictator and savior…

This is an era of contention among a hundred schools of thought: Plato – the great philosopher, Antisthenes – founder of cynicism, Pythagoras – school of number, Democritus – the encyclopedia scholar, Hippocrates – the father of western medicine, Aristophanes – the great dramatist…

What will the hero bring to the world when he comes to this age as a humble mercenary through rebirth? Collapse

Solid read, great translation and editing. I can't tell how historically accurate this is, especially since the MC "ruins" the timeline...but I noticed how the author attempts to keep it real.

Also this map of ancient italy helped with the geography.

A Google search of Rome 400 BC will also give the map.

Pretty good novel. Though it has some problems that is seen in many chinese novels. First is that it tries to kiss chinas butt some times directly and sometimes indirectly. Another major one is that the story "tells" what happens instead of "showing" what happens which takes away a lot from the readers imagination. Sometimes it feels like a tutorial to a game rather than a novel.

I'm pretty sure the author didn't have a choice with that.

Honestly, I'm not Chinese, but it's normal to favor your own country and make it look good. Even the Japanese and Americans do that. The problem is when you start insulting other countries badly. You all know that Japan has used anime as a form of soft power to improve its image and cultural influence by portraying itself as kind and benevolent, without insulting other countries.America portrays itself as the superhero and protector of planet Earth, as if it were the original, but it didn't insult other countries. In reality, it insulted the Soviet Union, but its films were exported to Americans and Europeans
Actually, thinking like that makes sense; they sell their work to the Chinese market, their audience is specific, and they don't need to care about the opinions of the rest of the world. But I would be grateful if he stopped being racist.

Even though they demonize Japan, they don't really care much about it. I think CCP would consider it a win if you could warn about potential danger from that side before ww2.

They'd probbaly want u to go back in time, and stop the cock slapping they took from the Mongols/British, then over throw the emperor and bring in some Xi Ji Ping thought or something.

I'm pretty sure, if they sent someone back in time they would want that person to convinvce the emperor to not stop sending out fleets into sea. China had very huge advantage in ancient times to colonize the countries but emperor couldn't be bothered at that time to discover sea routes. What wasted advantage!

Woah woah woah. Cock slapping from the british and the mongols? I think we need to bring you in for a special history class, it causes us (the CCP) pain to see one of our beautiful citizens be hirt by their own ignorance like this, we must fix this problem and bring you to enlightenment.

Read it in its entirety in the original. What can I say. The plot is about how a group of mercenaries creates their territory in this difficult time and develops it with the help of politics, external expansion and internal assimilation. There will be many battles against Persia who was on the rise at this time, Sparta who was also strong, but also with her own problems. And there were many battles against other states too, such as Rome and the internal "natives". There were also trade wars, religious problems and so on. As for the main character, he is not stupid, he uses his knowledge from the future, both historical and political. He goes gradually, he doesn't always win without losing, there are also problems here. The development of the army is also very high quality and good. He also develops politics slowly throughout the novel, looking for the right moments when to change laws, rules according to their (old) worldview. He also draws religion and science into his territory. I won't talk much about it. The main character will have 2 or more wives, but they will all be revealed and there will be no "tree" for decorating him. The theme of his children will also be revealed. In general, this is definitely a quality novel, the same as "The Rebirth of the Roman Empire" or whatever it is. I advise. *P.S. The pace of the novel is slow.

None of his relatives will betray him. It was because of politics and power. Bribery by another state of an official of the state of the protagonist. As the saying goes, "hard times, hard decisions". So don't worry, everything will be relatively normal there. A few more times will be due to the fact that the tribes that the protagonist captured were not yet assimilated into his territory and they still had some bad thoughts about betrayal and stuff.
