[From the Author of Author's POV...]

Emotions are like a drug to us.

The more we experience them, the more we become addicted.

The hardest part is not letting them consume us.

But it's already too late for me.

I've already been swallowed whole.

***

I had no knowledge of the game.

I was meant to have died.

And yet, I found myself in this situation.

A game I had never played before. A character I was unfamiliar with, and... A world that seemed to want to swallow me whole with every move I made.

What the hell is going on?

...and who am I? Collapse

Solid 4.5 out of 5. I really liked the worldbuilding especially after the initial confusion and although was not happy with some of his motivations, thoroughly enjoyed the exploration of emotions and the development of relationships between the characters.

Having given a stellar review, I would like to address some views and opinions I think misrepresent or should be expanded on:
"This novel is a mess in the first 20 chapters" This is correct and I agree that it may not feel intriguing however I would like to state that after reading a few tens of chapters more, everything manages to clear up a bit and you can appreciate being in the same fog of war Julien was in

"The author puts down too much raw negative emotions" That is the focus of our MC yes. Also it gets expanded on later that Julien does in fact lack control over emotive magic and has room for improvement.

"The entire plot is a chaotic series of strange incidents that happens to the main character" Yes it is. This alone is reason that this series is not a 5/5 for me since it does feel overwhelming at some points but the rationale provided by the author unravels itself with the release of more information.

"This plot is all about humiliation and pain". Not sure where the bad faith and kink are from but yes, this novel includes lots of torment and struggle. With that being said, it is always followed by growth whether in the physical or mental departments. It is a concentrated extract of life and how its many challenges force us to grow and adapt and I would like to acknowledge the author's ability to do this in an artistic manner.

This light novel is by no means flawless but I hope that some of my perspectives can highlight and parry some bad faith arguments.

The beginning of the novel is frankly off-putting: a jumbled and chaotic accumulation of the hero’s emotions only causes irritation. The emotional rollercoaster here is overwhelming, and the excessive mystery and secrecy create a sense of artificiality and disgust. 5/10. The protagonist demonstrates a striking lack of caution, and neither his power nor the plot sparked any interest in me. There’s too strong an emphasis on negative emotions, which are presented in a raw and unappealing way. The only things that attract any attention are the tattoo and the stat panel. These are what allowed me to make it to chapter 20. The entire plot is a chaotic series of strange incidents that happen to the main character.”

It really do be like that. I encourage you to keep reading to make sense of it. Is it a particularly good way to raise intrigue? Not from an author no but does he redeem himself? I personally think so and given your great regard for these details, I think you would enjoy the future chapters.

If this is to keep track of what chapter you're at, you can put it in a note on the bookmark. If you click bookmark, one of the options will be add note. This has the benefit that you won't have to look for your comment once you're ready to read again.

Where did such a high grade come from? This shit is not worthy of a rating above 2.9. Most of the book is how the hero suffers and overcomes himself. The author probably considers himself a genius and that it develops the hero, but after looking at the comments, he will see that this is the most garbage that is here, because when this happens from time to time, it helps the plot, but when the humiliation and pain of the main character is the whole plot, it is better to finish writing. The main character and the enemy have level 4, the hero also has a movement technique. But while she managed to overcome the whole arena and get to the main character, he couldn't even take a step? I haven't read anything more stupid for a long time. This is at the same level of idiocy as the fact that he is in a hurry to partially create a domain, instead of calmly understanding over time what suits him and needs more. And why is he ruining his future? For the sake of a reward, which he doesn't even know anything about.

Since when does julien have a movement techinuqe?
Is he talking about the one that is supposed to be used with a sword and is the missing piece for Leon?
Or did he get a movement technique? Cuz last time i remember that movement wasn't meant to be used in combat. Am I just remembering wrong?

You are remembering wrong. Its the technique he stole from Leon which he then improved it during his torment cycles. Getting diffed by a body character still is expected

Ok I think you might being a little disingenuous here. It is not about pain and humiliation but struggle and growth. I would not go as far as to say the author considers himself a genius but his depictions of emotions and the endeavor Julien faces is in my eyes quite artful. I will agree that it plays too great a part in this novel but from a different perspective it is not a degrading masochistic kink but the purest desire for strength and agency.
All I see is a guy trying his best to keep his head above water when everything around him is out to kill him. He rushes because all he sees is the next second, minute and day lest he fall behind and perish due to his weakness in an unforgiving world.
Also excuse my anger but are you illiterate? The author quite loudly and clearly states "Angela was a speed-type [Body] user." MC IS A MIND AND ELEMENTAL USER. It does not matter if he has a shitty replica of an incomplete technique, he is getting diffed in speed any day of the week. Furthermore, same tier does not mean same level. His strenghts do not lie in his agility but his emotions and the very fast development of a domain.
Nonetheless, this is still no means peak fiction but a solid 4.4 in my books. Please stop making arguments in bad faith.

You apparently don't see the difference between her and me. She's a speed type, and faster than me. And the fact that she crossed the entire arena and approached the main character was the only time he could react, and that was when they were both level 4. I'm not saying he should be her equal in speed, but with that logic, how can mages win any duel if they can't react?
