Chu Yi dies in a car crash and becomes Landon Barn, the illegitimate son of king Barn, ruler of Arcadina. Because his mother was a maid and the king’s greatest disgrace, his father had always despised him. The same could be said for his half-siblings.

When he turned 15, his father had announced that the city of Baymard would be given to him, and would no longer be under the empire’s control. It was a well known fact that Baymard’s lands were barren, and poverty stricken… For god’s sake, this was banishment.

His deadbeat father had indirectly banished him from the empire. Chu Yi woke up in a carriage, on his way to Baymard with a system

«So what if my father hates me? So what if I’m banished?… I will turn my territory into a modern society» Collapse

Not pointing out negatives won't make it disappear. I personally look for negative reviews, I analyze them based on my preference and decide if I can stomach the novel despite the bad parts. It also helps me lower my expectations. As you read a lot, your own expectations becomes a restriction towards enjoying even a somwhat decent novel

Beginners can enjoy novels the most. I am already reading novels for 6-7 years. For me tales of demons and gods got me started on the path of novels. I recommend checking out completed popular titles. If I was forgetful I could read those novels again but alas..

My problem with negative reviews is that a lot of times they are pure bullshit. Some dude read 5% of a novel and decided that character development and world building aren't enough. Another review on the same novel will claim too much info dump. Then another will complain about a plot point which gets easily explained further down the line. I have seen many such reviews in "The Legendary Mechanic" , "RSSG" and other novels.

Constructive negative reviews these days are truly rare. Having people mention until which chapter they have read is crucial. The other thing is to keep in mind that 90% of reviews are opinions (thus most likely you won't be sharing the same viewpoints with the reviewer) or simply the reviewer is a poor reader. I lament when I decide to trust a negative review only to late give a chance to the novel and find out that the reviewer didn't bother to understand the nuance of certain scenes. Thus wrongly making assumption for the truth of the matter.

From my experience reviews rarely are "correct" in the way that they would depict whether you will like the novel or not. I only use them when I don't feel inclined to spend time bonding with the novel and caring for the characters.

Reviews are always biased. It's wrong to think someone's novel experience will match yours.

Either negative or positive review helps me understand how that person feels about the novel.

Is he angry because he loved the novel?
Is he saying good things because he doesn't want to affect the novel?
From this point of view, someone who is angry is much more truthful.

They felt angry doesn't necessarily mean you'll hate it. I remember reading novels based on negative comments. They were saying, "mc is heartless, unfeeling, selfish" in a negative tone. But to me, that was attractive.

I didn't mean this. I was implying that most negative reviews are bullshit because the reviewer is either a poor reader or simply read way less chapter to be considered suitable to review the novel.
Let me give you an example. In "Dungeon of Pride, Laplace" there are three reviews which are completely bullshit. They convey a completely wrong message regarding the novel. If they bothered to read further down the line or try to think about scenes a little more they would never reach those conclusions.
One message claimed there is no character development.
The other claimed there is too much info dump.
The last one claimed the MC simping to his summoned female companion.

The only one of those three that is really subjective is the info dump. I never got the feeling of having to process too much information. Don't be fooled it doesn have continuous block of texts with pure info.
The character development one is nonsense. Simon the MC has many mini arcs of characters development. He used to be a white collar employee in a game development company. The last months of his life he spent on developing a game almost on his own. His death has to do with overworking himself to the bone. Imagine such an individual reincarnating as a demon to a European Fantasy World. He is not gonna fit in. The only reason he can even progress a little has to do with the game he was developing that caused him to die.
The simping one is even dumber. First of all people overuse the term simping. In the whole novel there is zero simping involved. That female companion is truely strong. Thus him being accommodating with her is necessary for his survival and his dungeon thriving. The reviewer complained because there are moments once in a while where the MC inwardly praises her beauty. Considering her former strength (she is in a sealed state) and her race she thousands of time more beautiful overall compared to Earth's standards. Not forget he was a relatively normal white collar employee. At the scene the reviewer points out he has barely been around a couple days around her. It is normal once a while to appreciate her beauty. He didn't suffer any setback from doing so. Ironically most people in the MC's position would have the same or even worse reactions.

You didn't get my message. My first sentence of the previous comment was, "Reviews are biased". Simple solution, don't completely believe them but take them as a 'maybe' scenario.

Or you can read only read the synopsis of the novel and guess if you might like the novel. Then read couple of chapters to decide if you want to continue. You can absolutely ignore reviews.

But reading your comment got me thinking,

You sound like, you trusted someone then got betrayed. Which made you hate all reviews. lol.

Your info dump and simping story is valid from my pov. But maybe for someone else, appreciation of beauty is simping.

You need to take reviews with a grain of salt. Try to understand the words and underlying emotions behind a review.

Was he emotional in his review?
              Was his words very basic?
              Is he bad at punctuation?
              How is construction of sentence?

We can identify reviewer's intellectual level and scale the validity of review. Then again even intelligent people are prone to emotions.

I generally look at reviews when the synopsis at the beginning is unsatisfactory. And if the synopsis is good I completely ignore reviews. I never read reviews on Warlock of Magus World even till this day. I found the synopsis interesting and started reading.

I didn't get "betrayed" from a review. I just realised that they barely have a connection with the story involved. I just wanted to highlighted that in most cases reviews aren't going to add anything useful to you in order to judge whether you want to read the novel or not. In most cases they are so disconnected with the actual story that they hold no value. Reading them on the contrary is going to negatively affect your judgement. Ofcourse there are reviews that can be "trusted" a bit more. Those rely more on the reviewer on himself realizing that he is writing a review and not his personal understanding of the novel. i.e. For a review to be valied in my eyes has to portray an example to every point made in the review as it was in the novel. For example in the simping complain , the reviewer shouldn't have just went MC is simping this girl what a trash novel. He should have explained the scene and the circumstances. His review is more malicious than actually helpful. Reviews are supposed for someone to understand whether a novel is good or not. Not to know whether each stranger liked the novel or not. If I had to rely on whether someone else liked the novel or not , I would never bother reading reviews.

Your understanding about readers are a bit off. Opinion comment without sufficient explanation isn't review.

99.9% readers don't get paid to write a review. They are sharing their personal experience. Their pros and cons might not match yours. Paid or unpaid, all reviews are biased. Just scroll through the comments, don't take them to heart.

And you're a bit too trusting and righteous. People do not think this way. They review as a way to share their experience. They will not be extra considerate to others when writing a review. Reviews don't necessarily mean you will experience the same.

legend of the great sage is excellent if you want a slice of life xianxia, there is still tons of fighting, the pacing is just hella slow, like 200 chapters per major realm. read it on the authors, site poor dude might not keep translating the remaining 40% of the story if he dosent get some revenue :/

on this site, Top Tier Providence, Secretly Cultivate for a Thousand Years is the best sign in novel by a mile.

Losing money to become a tycoon is a fantastic urban fantasy which is kind of like a business kingdom builder.

Paragon of sin is a very refined english xianxia, definitely the best one from webnovel, it really highlights how shitty the other stories on there are.

Villain Cultivator is also pretty good as a system cultivation story.

My senior brother is too steady is a great cowardly mc that hides away in his sect and interacts with everyone with lifelike paper clones, definitely worth a read.

The profane prince of domination is r18 but still a great system xianxia that ramps up pretty quickly into world domination.

I've heard great things about the first order but havent checked it out yet, same with lord of mysteries.

i started with lesser known stories, now some staples would be desolate era, coiling dragon, i shall seal the heavens, a will eternal, warlock in a magus world, 40 millennium of cultivation.

I really should write down reviews for everything I read, I've probably missed a ton of good stories but those are off the top of my head. special mention to pursuing immortality and a sorcerer's journey, too bad webnovel only translates garbage and drops all the excellent stories :/

yes, a few of the games were entertaining, the idea for the world is super interesting, but the script that binds the world together is just so terrible. also he accelerated the plot way too dramatically with the progenitor politics. he should have at least set a firm foundation for earth and closed a bunch of plot holes before jumping into the extreme deepend out of nowhere. the human intrigue and business building was already an excellent plotline but he glossed over it so quickly. such a massive waste of potential :/

In my opinion , if the author tried that it would be too long as Felix( MC ) knew the future and thinking it logically and also from the recent chapters where he took over earth. It would be a waste to deal with it ( it would become a filler ) as MC is already stronger that all on Earth combined . I mean no one on earth has even reached Silver or Gold. While he has Primos blood and memories of the future along with that him being literally a Diamond Player , so I would disagree here with the fact that the Earth was a plothole .

That is true and also if you are up to date on the new chapters coming up ( seeing the titles ) as I cannot pay for privilege . I would say the author looked at it again and has given some cultivation system to his subordinates too, but now with a restriction at 75% integration ( otherwise it would be a waste to be a MC( and his golden finger ) . ( Olivia etc...) . and at this point the Golden Finger is changing too ( if you have not yet read it I wouldn't spoil it ) but if you have you would realize his independence from the Memories

path of dreams or w/e by the same author as warlock magus world, legendary mechanic, keyboard immortal, and the other stories i mentioned earlier, even if they are kind of slice of life they are still really enjoyable and have that same reward mechanism of traditional power fantasies.

oh and cultivation chat group, terror infinity also has one of the greatest intro arcs in webnovels, it goes a bit off the rails later but it's amazing for a few 100 chapters.

Hmm so i kept reading further into this novel since im interested in world building novels concept.

Unfortunately, this novel cannot be enjoyed my men.

    1)Random villains, a , b , c , d , f , g ,h ,i ............x, y , z , with exactly the same 1-dimensional personality as the other villains, and with minus 100 IQ , appear constantly throughout the novel .

Every male villain is a rapist, sadist, nobel, killing maniac, who is either a prince/crown prince/king/emperor/master of the worlds largest underground organization which has existed for 400 years/monarch, which unfortunately no matter what it is they all have exactly the same character and minus-100 IQ.
Every female villain is a sadist, killing maniac, who is either a princess/concubine/first wife/second wife/third wife/main wife/mother Queen of a emperor/empire which unfortunately all have the exactly same character and same minus-100 IQ, and also they have exactly the same goals!

2)The plot is constantly recycled minus-100 IQ plot as well. Constantly random villain a,b,c,....x,y,z create trouble for our MC which just happens to be a -100IQ character as well. MC at this point is already omnipotent, dont let the title deceive you. While MC created technological weapons centuried ahead of their time, in actuallity he doesnt even need them. Thats because he can just take a sword and kill 1000+ men by himself. The system is nothing sort of omnipotent which makes the novel feel bland as f#ck always, since there is never any risk for the MC with that type of system.

Everyone in this novel is so stupid im honestly offended.

Anyway, i somehow managed to read as long as 800 chapters in 2 months though because i got headaches every time after reading more than 20 chapters a day.
I have nothing more to add, other than the fact that this novel seems to be written by a teenager since it lacks any common sense that can be found in people who are in contact with society.
At least thats what i hope.

    So here is my conclusion.
----->If this novel is written by a teen, then i have to say good job and commend his hard work, and i'll be looking forward to reading future novels and seeing his improvements.
------>If this novel is written by and adult, then i have to say he should go out and experience society in order to get some common sense, if he ever hopes to write a better novel in the future.

    Peace boast

Yes, mainly and almost the only reason that kept me reading was the wish-fullfilment part.
Plus watching princes/kings/queens and common become dumbfounded by technological improvements MC has created in his city just hits the right spot in me.......
I've only read a couple more novels where MC is a reincarnated individual from modern world and brings new technology in a underdeveloped world and it just makes me happy and i've always been looking for that kind of novels!

Ok, this novel has absolutely no resemblance of logic so far(chapter 26).
1)Author calls our MC a king, when actually at best he is just a fcking lord of a terittorry, since he has gone through nothing official to be crowned king(corronation exc.).

2)This guy should learn to act as for what his identity is. He supposedly is a KING, BUT
-----> HE calls every fcking peasants on his territory "my family". No fcking king will call the peasants in his territory his family :) . You can call them my people, or my subjects exc. Anything is better that calling them my family.
-----> Also he keeps going around his territory in order to teach the peasants MATH. You are the fcking king idiot, start acting like it. Teach your trusted somewhat educated subordinates basic knowledge, and then have them teach the general population. What a stupid *******.

    3) I almost forgot, but the moment this MC woke up in the new body he instantly called all the people close to him by name, like everything was normal. We are not described what he thinks about it at all. Its like he never reincarnated in the first place. He just woke up in the body of a new person and called 'MOM I AM HUNGRY' like he had rehearsed this 10000 times.....

I mean come on man, most reaaders dont really care about the details, for example how much time does the wheat need to grow?? or shit like that. Even if you get it wrong who gives a f#ck.
But some common sense is the only thing thats absolutely necessary...

Anyway Because i am interested in this system-world building thing im gonna keep reading for a while more, and hopefully novel will improve or else adios!

This novel was good at early chapters but as time passes it becomes boring as hell! The technological and kingdom development was too fast for a backward civilization that it only takes less than 3 years to develop a desolate land into a prosperous city/kingdom from modern civilization. The MC and the heroine didn't act befitting for their status! And in the later chapter, the story looked at the different characters and didn't focus on the MC, so it is pretty boring.

I wouldn't read it if not for the kingdom building and technology development. Overall, I rate it 2/5

My favorite part of the novel is the faces the author makes with the symbols.

    Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

This novel is actually quite decent once you get further into it. It has some glaring issues but also positives. You will be shocked by the speed of progression but at the same time feel as if it's too slow. It's a weird state.

The characters are interesting enough, and some of them will often re-appear and have background given to them, even whole chapters which does help to break up the monotony of constantly hearing about how 'godly' Landon is. The MC, Landon is also interesting enough and is compassionate, caring but also ruthless enough to protect his Kingdom from the scourge of the world.

World building is also solid and you'll have chapters dedicated to learning about powerful figureheads and the movement of these people within the world and how it affects Landon and his Kingdom. Furthermore, you learn about power struggles, what continents have what, religions, cultures, etc.

Grammar is... passable. It's good enough to read but dialogue can be clunky and the author consistently misuses '...' during sentences for some odd reason. Spelling is fine and apart from the occasional misspelt word, you won't need to correct everything. There are also author notes which take up entire chapters.

If you like RTW (Release that Witch), you will probably like this novel. It focuses more heavily on Kingdom building and the MC has a system to help him out, though it doesn't show up all too often at the moment.
