He was an addict, a loser, a despicable human being. But, one fleeting dream that may not have been a dream at all reawakens his once-lost senses. Possessing a very unique ability, he would use that, and the dream, to forge his path in the world now known as the Lost Paradise.

….

«The son of god Gula has returned.»

I was lost in the world of gambling. I turned my back on my family and even betrayed my lover. I wasted every day of my life. It was a life of trash.

The reality told me thus: That I would amount to nothing no matter what I did. In order to change my pathetic life, I chose fantasy, instead. Even then, it was the same story. I wondered if salvation would come at the end of the long road. But, I was forced to kneel down in defeat in front of a powerful entity. The tower I built up with my own hands crumbled into nothingness. Just for once, I dearly wished to know the truth about myself.

— Come closer, my child…

I will not hold back this time. Collapse

    I can't stand Yoo Seonhwa.
After reading the novel, I realized why MC was a gambling addict, it was because he was addicted to Yoo Seonhwa, and when she left him his addiction transferred to gambling. But the thing is, Yoo Seonhwa knowingly made MC addicted to her and basically brainwashed him with the permission of MC's mother. She basically babied him and stunted his interaction with any other woman. When he broke from Yoo Seonhwa abandoning him and his gambling addiction, she just gave up on him because she didn't like what she had made anymore.
If there is one thing I can't stand in novels is female to male abuse being used as comedy, especially mental abuse.

one of the reasons why I don't like Chinese or Korean novels, they would just add illogical things to make the novel sad and depressing just to add the genre 'psychology'.well I do recommend you to read novels on royal road there are some top tier novels such as the book of the dead, post human

Bro, i think problem in MC, not in his girlfriend. He can have just a little more balls, and all would be cool. But author f#cking cuckold, i hate this so much 😡😡😡😡
That is may be great novel, but MC ruin it all.

It's like some of you just skim through the novel, while manipulative and controlling she's hardly to blame for MC's gambling problem. MC got addicted while experimenting with his Nine Eyes and after a year lost it, for 2-3 years he continued gambling while borrowing or stealing money from his family and Seonhwa. His family gave up on him, Seonhwa kept supporting him through all those years but finally lost hope. While a manipulative bitch, I don't blame her for "abandoning" him, MC pretty much put himself into that position. sigh

The "help" he was provided by his family & Seonhwa was financial capital. That's it. No professional or psychological help was provided and mc was supposed to fix himself solely by his own will power. It seems ridiculous to me. The way I see it, the author wanted to write something different instead of the usual mc (chad blackie in this case) regressing and fixing his mistakes. I'm not saying the mc isnt to blame but expecting an addict to just fix himself with no support is baffling. Another question Why did Seonhwa

I really dislike the ex. She manipulated Seol's common sense for her own benefit from a young age. I understand it was because she was a child, but even after Seol grew up, she continued the manipulation. I think Seol became addicted to gambling again because of her excessive dependence on the ex. When the ex went abroad, that's when her addiction began. Without her main source of support, she filled that void with gambling.

i really enjoyed this novel. The only irksome thing is when charachters are talking a lot of uh, ah, oh etc words are used. It is soooo annoying and for some reason every korean novel has them in almost every dialogue.

The MC has memories, but not the experience of the future. He has the information advantage at the early parts of the story. It gets better in the later parts as he has become somewhat experienced and relies on his allies more.

The Second Coming of Gluttony is the most reviewed novel at https://www.wuxiaworld.com/. 592 reviews with 90% positive ratings. There's a high chance you will enjoy it. but if you hate it usually you will really hate it. However, I think it's good to take your chances.

Long review short, if you chance upon this novel in hopes that the MC is smart, decisive, serious, and calculative, then I suggest you don't waste your time. He shows promise at the beginning up until the trial/neutral zone arc ends. After that arc, his personality somehow switches to a seemingly goofy, dense, childish individual that'll have you (or at least it had me) very frustrated.

A few other complaints include: MC never really seeming to learn from past experiences, turns into a complete idiot around women, and everyone, including the author, treats him like a 12 year old (he sometimes acts like it too) even though he is supposedly 26.

An honorable mention is the author and every other character repeatedly, and I mean REPEATEDLY, referring to the MC as "the youth". It really encapsulates almost all that is wrong with this MC, because his maturity was a big thing I questioned while reading.

(for people planning to read the novel)
If you've seen the tags, then just ignore the "Reverse R*pe". Its not related in anyway to the story (its one of the side chapters)

Also the "Harem" genre, I'm not really sure since it's been almost a year since I last read the novel, but I think the Main Story was more like a polygamy and it only truly became a harem in the Side Story

Yeah, it turns out I don't really know what Polygamy means, what I meant here is that he has a close relationship with several women but except for Female Lead, he doesn't like any of them nor does he have any thoughts of deepening their relationship
