After being knocked out and abruptly awakened by a punch, Morin finds himself a prisoner of war.

He initially believed he was in a world on the eve of a conflict similar to World War I, but quickly discovers the actual situation is far more bizarre. For starters, why is he, an Imperial soldier, allied with volunteers from the International Brigades?!

Assault Troopers who look like walking Iron Cans carrying swords and shields, Armored Knights powered by a mix of diesel and Magic, and battle mages marching with the army… All of this tells Morin that this world has serious, fundamental issues.

But his immediate concern is how to survive this conflict, a war ironically touted as ‘the war to end all wars.’

Key Elements:

Magically Modified World War I;

Real Men Use Bolt-Action Rifles;

Diesel-Powered Armored Knights;

Airship Boarding Actions; Collapse

    I just look at the title then think: "Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld?"

    ...then I read halfway through the summary: "IT'S THE SAME SETTING KINDA. GET OUT."
    can someone actually confirm whether or not this is basically just a Leviathan ripoff?
    ...or is it vice versa? whateva idc

    Review of Trenches, Guns, and Magic

    Ah… another scroll of powder and prophecy drifts ashore. A magitech war epic stitched with iron and mana, blood and bureaucracy..... the kind of tale where gunpowder meets spellcraft, and the trenches sing hymns louder than the temples.

    The author’s pen marches like a field drum..... steady, researched, unfazed. No overpowered cheat storms in to save the day; no divine plot armor shields the trembling youth. Instead, we are dragged boot-first through a world where rifles hum with runes and artillery shells weep sparks of sorcery. A fine steel-fire-magic piece, as the natives say.

    Strengths?
    Tactics bloom like formations on the page. The pacing gallops with a soldier’s heartbeat...orderly yet urgent. Its magitech worldbuilding is as dense and believable as trench mud. The MC’s journey from captive to commander satisfies the itch for steady, reasoned progression.

    Flaws?
    The System intrudes at times like a bureaucrat in the barracks.... its glowing tabs remind us that beneath the smoke and shrapnel lurks a spreadsheet. And yes, the occasional miracle reinforcement or conveniently captured officer may make historians twitch. But these are pinpricks in an otherwise well-forged shell. old

    For whom does this scroll open?
    Those who savor diesel-fantasy, tactical warfare, or system-based progressions will find it hearty fare. Those seeking psychological stillness, literary sorrow, or strict realism may feel the gunpowder too strong and the magic too sweet. yaranaikachu

    In essence, this is not a poem about soldiers.... it is an engineer’s dream about war, written with the enthusiasm of a man who truly knows how to march through mud and math alike.

    Final Verdict:
    A sturdy magitech war serial....no cheap glory, no wasted ink. Marches clean, shoots straight, occasionally reloads with clichés, but never forgets to fire.

    Note: As I was reading in the online site, I saw this slang in the website: "gaga luan sha". Idk what that means but I can understand where all this slang has been showing - "scenes where MC was ruthlessly mowing down enemies / absolute slaughterfest"

        Ah, Fellow Daoist… it seems the Balance Sect has struck again.

        Every time I pour a little honest poison into the review cauldron, a few righteous cultivators of the Order of Pure Taste gather to downvote in perfect formation.... chanting “Neutrality is justice!” while secretly feeding the chaos they despise.

        Let them. This humble wanderer has long accepted that reviews are but small-scale tribulations. The Dao was never meant to be universally liked....only universally endured.

        Now if the Chaos Sect truly is at it again, may their keyboards never find peace and their bookmarks forever desync.

    For all of you wondering why chapter 73 is missing, actualy i upload the map explanation for that chapter. the author said:

    This is actually the author taking two extremely abstract scenarios from playing ‘Victoria 3’ and the ‘English Peace’ MOD for ‘Hearts of Iron 4’ and stitching them together…

    To make Greater Germany (Großdeutschland) and Spain share a border, the author directly used ‘divine power’ to squeeze up a piece of land from the Mediterranean.

    As for the areas outside the visible map: over 90% of North America, Central Africa, and South Africa are colonies of Otherworld Great Britain, which is the foundation of Great Britain’s confidence to ‘single-handedly suppress’ the European continent.

    this is the link to the map. you can check it out! https://files.catbox.moe/b2wksp.jpg.

    I enjoyed how fast mc adapts and shows amazing leadership at crucial moments but it got a little confusing at around chap 70 but besides that its definitely a good novel and would definitely recommend sticking through reading this one!
