“Why… why can you break the contract?!”

Faced with the question full of resentment, the demon unfurled the contract.

The contract enlarged, and he clearly saw the ‘paper’ it was made of.

It was composed of countless extremely fine threads, woven together in a particular pattern that formed words carrying information.

【Supplementary Clause One: ……】

【Supplementary Clause Two: ……】

【Final Supplementary Clause: The ultimate right of interpretation of this contract belongs to the demon Naimes.】

Naimes, who crossed into another world and became a demon, finally welcomed the perfect storm of his one-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

And so, having obtained part of a Divinity of Commandments, he began step by step to steal the divine throne—

writing his own Bible. Collapse

Review: Demon Bible by Daoist InkDrunkWanderer

In Demon Bible, the protagonist Naimes (The protag) awakens in a foreign, god-ruled world....reborn not as a man, but as a demon. In a realm governed by sacred law and divine hierarchy, Naimes inherits a fragment of the Divinity of Commandments, a godlike essence of order itself.

From that moment, he begins a descent...or perhaps an ascent?....toward absolute power.
Naimes vows to seize divinity from the heavens, rewrite the rules of creation, and author his own Bible....one where the demon, not the deity, holds the right of interpretation.

(Truly, dear daoists ...writing reviews, reading novels, and drinking cold wine on winter’s night, the stillness of midnight births mesmerising ideas like whispered ripples upon a quiet lake, flowing without force yet shaping the mind with effortless clarity and radiant insight. ) gosling2

*ahem* Where was I...? Ahh yes!

    Story & Themes
Demon Bible is a dark meditation on authority, interpretation, and self-determination. The concept of contract and commandment sits at the story’s core....every power, pact, and betrayal is bound by clauses, divine rules, and loopholes waiting to be exploited.

A recurring motif, “the right of final interpretation,” encapsulates the novel’s philosophy: power doesn’t belong to those who make the laws, but to those who define them.
In this world, the quill that writes scripture wields more strength than the sword that enforces it.

Betrayal is common currency...both divine and mortal. Naimes’s journey from a bound creature of order to the architect of his own damnation blurs the line between villain and visionary.

    Worldbuilding & System
The novel’s magic and divine systems are dense and methodical.
Contracts are literal...woven into the air as threads of law, visible and manipulable. Divinity is quantifiable, split into godly fragments, “commandments,” and laws that can be analyzed, stolen, or rewritten.

Readers familiar with boss-flow progression stories will recognize the structure: a steady accumulation of power, territory, and influence. However, Demon Bible uses that structure philosophically...each upgrade in strength parallels Naimes’s erosion of morality and deepening understanding of what it means to become a god.

    Style & Writing
Xu ming (The author) is known for his cold, cerebral prose and his fascination with power systems, logic, and metaphysics. Compared with his earlier works...such as Soul of Negary...Demon Bible is more mature and refined, with improved pacing and atmosphere.

Still, the novel’s strengths are also its pitfalls.
Readers consistently praise its worldbuilding and ambition, but criticize its heavy exposition.
The author often spends entire chapters detailing system logic or metaphysical structure, which can slow narrative momentum. Internal monologues sometimes read like essays on theology or programming rather than character thought. (Reference taken from Qidian)

Yet when the prose sharpens...especially in moments of betrayal or divine confrontation...it delivers the kind of intellectual thrill few webnovels attempt.

Reader Reception - Daoists when I was reading this novel on Qidian....Chinese readers and webfiction communities, among them Demon Bible has earned a reputation as a return to form for the author. Fans of dark, rational fantasy rate it highly...often citing it as one of the most thought-provoking boss-type novels currently serialized. meme_10

Late-stage chaps (Ch. 350–450) describe the story as “the light that fell into the abyss”....a fitting epitaph for its hero. Demon Bible remains one of the strongest ongoing dark fantasies in the Chinese webnovel scene.

    Verdict
Demon Bible isn’t for casual readers...it demands patience, reflection, and appetite for abstraction. But for those who enjoy philosophical fantasy, theological rebellion, and a protagonist who questions the architecture of power itself, it’s a standout. meme_11

Someone needs to remind the guy who wrote this novel to stop writing explanations and start writing an actual story. Dude, I’ve read all 450 chapters, and there’s only one thing to say — for about 400 chapters straight, he just keeps explaining, describing, and overanalyzing everything. He gets so lost in his own narration that the main character ends up swinging his sword once or twice while we’re forced to read through 2,000 words of nonsense.

On top of that, he keeps repeating the same things over and over again — it’s exhausting. As for the main character, somehow he’s the only person in the entire story who always makes the perfect decisions. Every bit of luck, every miracle, every coincidence works in his favor. Even in the most ridiculous situations, he comes out on top.

And don’t even get me started on the power system — it’s complete trash. One moment someone says, “I’m 30 points stronger than you, I’m the most powerful,” and the next, a guy with 50 points is throwing out 700-point attacks. It’s just a chain of absurdities, but the MC somehow blocks it all with some random half-baked ability.

That’s literally the whole novel. Completely unreadable. Even one star is too generous.

Sure but why make a novel that is that deep in the first place? It's just not entertaining. If a car is harder to describe than a chair, and you're given the choice between the two, why would you describe the car for any reason else to serve yourself, which in gives the readers a harder time

sadly translation quality is somehow even worse than ai slop. it seems like the translator copy pasted the book into chatgpt for a preliminary translation, then role-played as the original author and made various changes like a f#cking retard 😅

Suggest everyone just read the MTL on Ranobes

For some reason translator decided to change original names and throw in his own stuff. From what I’ve seen that usually means he’ll also start tweaking the plot to fit what he thinks is ‘better'
