Chapter 368: Massage |
“Hua Ren Hospital…” Chu Jiu memorised the name.
“Thank you.” Jiang Cheng looked at the woman appreciatively. He stood up and said, “We still have to go to work. We’ll have to go.”
“Sit a little while longer.” When the woman saw that the two were about to leave, she rubbed her hands on her sweater and stood up. “I haven’t had guests in a long time. By the way,” The woman tapped her head like she just remembered something. “I have the letter written by the tenants to the girl. I’ll go find it.” The woman moved towards the bedroom.
However, Jiang Cheng moved quicker than she did. He stopped her. “That won’t be necessary.” He smiled. “After all, I’m moving today.”
Chu Jiu stood up with confusion in her eyes. It was clear that she wanted to read the letter. After all, Chen Yi once saved her. The earlier they figured out the ghost’s identity, the bigger the chance of Chen Yi’s survival. Chu Jiu pouted as she glanced at Jiang Cheng. He looked like he had smelled danger but…
CREAK
There was a strange sound of scratching. It was soft, but it sounded wrong in the quiet room. Chu Jiu’s eyes halted. Then, she glanced at the bedroom. The sound came from the bedroom. It felt like someone was kneeling behind the door and was scratching the door with sharp nails.
Chu Jiu’s face paled. She was immediately reminded of the nail ghost from Building Two. Unlike her, Jiang Cheng didn’t even look at the bedroom. He had a kind smile on his face like he couldn’t hear anything.
The woman glanced at the bedroom and turned back mechanically. She stared at Jiang Cheng and said harshly, “I’m sorry. My cats are afraid of strangers. You hear how they are when they are hungry.” Then, she added, “They haven’t been fed in a long time.”
Earlier, Jiang Cheng already noticed that. The woman’s collar fell for a while. Due to her pale skin, the brown stain to the right of her chin was very obvious. Jiang Cheng knew what the stain was. It was caused by stagnation in the blood after it stopped circulating after one died. It was called livor mortis. The woman was long dead. The woman standing before them was a ghost.
The situation became very dangerous. With Chu Jiu staring, Jiang Cheng reached into his right pocket. He took out everything and shoved it into the woman’s hands. “This is all we have.” Jiang Cheng patted the woman’s cold hands and said sincerely, “Buy something good for the cats.” Chu Jiu’s eyes widened. She saw that Jiang Cheng had given the woman a lot of money. There were notes and a few coins. Then, Jiang Cheng turned and yanked Chu Jiu with him. The woman didn’t stop them. However, the front door refused to open even though it had no lock.
Jiang Cheng yanked on the door without turning his head around. He said, “Sister, don’t be like this. My friends have more money. I’ll deliver them to you later.”
At that moment, Fatty’s surprised voice came from the other side, “Doctor?”
Jiang Cheng stopped moving and shouted, “Fatty, do you have money on you?”
Moments later…
After Fatty and Chen Yi ransacked their rooms, they collected several hundred dollars and shoved them through the gap in the door. They finally saved Jiang Cheng and Chu Jiu.
“Doctor.” As they walked down the corridor, Fatty whispered to Jiang Cheng, “Did we… bribe the ghost?”
Chen Yi comforted Chu Jiu. At that moment, she raised her head. “The money doesn’t matter as long as they are fine.” This was the first time Fatty encountered such an understanding ghost. Once they handed over the money, she let them go. “So good!” He exclaimed internally. He wished more ghosts were like this. Then, he’d turn the nightmare mission into a management game. He was not a businessman, but the Doctor was a shameless scammer.
“Sister Chen Yi.” Chu Jiu lifted her head to add, “The woman said the long-legged ghost in your room is called Yu Youwei. She was a model. She was fine when she first moved here. But she lost her mind. She started to curse at night and break mirrors.
“And… Hua Ren Hospital.” Chu Jiu gripped her fists. “The police came to investigate Yu Youwei’s death. They mentioned this hospital. We might find clues there.” When there was still light, the group hailed a cab to Hua Ren Hospital. Jiang Cheng told Fatty to take the side passenger’s seat. He took the middle seat in the back. To his left was Chu Jiu, and to his right was Chen Yi.
Along the way, as the cab turned, Jiang Cheng’s body swayed greatly. Chu Jiu was curled near the door, but Jiang Cheng still crushed his body against hers. In the end, the driver got annoyed. He coughed heavily, and Jiang Cheng became more honest.
Chen Yi, who normally would have punched Jiang Cheng, only looked out the window. Her brows were creased. She occasionally rubbed her shoulders like she was uncomfortable. Then, she adjusted her pose and massaged her waist.
Chen Yi suddenly felt a touch on her legs. “Yi Yi.” Jiang Cheng blinked innocently. “Do you feel uncomfortable?”
Chen Yi smacked his hand back. She rolled her eyes at him.
Then, the hand slowly moved to her waist. It pinched her. “Do you feel uncomfortable here?” Jiang Cheng swallowed lasciviously. “Why don’t you turn over so… I can give you a good rub?”
The driver glanced at the police station nearby. He wondered if he should drive there. Fatty noticed this and quickly distracted the driver with some nonsensical questions. The two chatted.
Finally, the car stopped after taking a turn. After paying the fare, they didn't have enough money to get another ride back.
Before them was Hua Ren Hospital. The driver said that this was a county hospital. Jiang Cheng had been to many county hospitals, but none looked as imposing as this one.
“Come on.” Chen Yi urged. Her face was paler than before. Her one hand rubbed her shoulder. Her neck looked stiff.
