Chapter 361: Chaos-sealed Maze

It seemed that, with the passage of time, this piece of broken stone had lost its original power.

Li Fan paused for a moment, then held his breath and approached slowly.

Until he reached the broken stone, he didn’t feel any change in himself.

However, Li Fan’s vigilance remained high.

This maze was filled with various bizarre phenomena, so one must not take it lightly.

Without touching the broken stone, he observed it carefully from a distance.

The stone was half-buried in the soil, roughly forming a square about the length and width of a person’s outstretched arms.

There were obvious signs of breakage on its edges.

It seemed to have been deliberately cut from a larger stone.

“Chaos. “(乱)”

“The area centered around this circular pit, with its disoriented directions and even the bizarre phenomenon of human mutation, could it be related to this character?”

“If indeed a single character triggers many anomalies…”

“What does this ‘Chaos Stone’ have to do with the Heavenly Doctor?”

After pondering for a moment, Li Fan decided not to bother with it for now, but to check around for any signs of an “exit”.

Unfortunately, apart from the sticky, unidentifiable substances covering the bottom of the circular pit,

there was only this chaotic stone.

“The aberrant monsters now only act on instinct, they shouldn’t be trying to deceive me.”

After some thought, Li Fan returned to the side of the broken stone, activated his spiritual power, and lifted it from the ground.

It wasn’t as heavy as some heavenly treasures, weighing the same as ordinary stones.

And after pulling it out, there was no expected exit beneath the stone.

No abnormal situation occurred.

“Strange…”

Li Fan put down the Chaos Stone and rubbed his chin.

With little time left, Li Fan didn’t search for other possibilities.

Instead, he stared closely at the stone in front of him, pondering where the exit might be hidden.

With not much time to waste, after a moment, Li Fan pointed his finger and shot out a black light towards it.

As he stepped back, he observed the changes that occurred when the Annihilation Sword collided with the Chaos Stone.

The black sword light flew to the front of the stone in an instant.

Just before the collision, the black light suddenly distorted.

Under Li Fan’s gaze, three extremely familiar energies emerged from the black light.

Madness, darkness, swirling rotation…

It was exactly the three powers that make up the Annihilation Sword of the Five Elements: Heavenly Calamity, Ink Death, and the power of the Five Elements.

Under the influence of the Chaos Stone, the black light gradually faded away.

Then, these energies that should have been under Li Fan’s control began to fight against each other.

At the same time, a wave of unknown fluctuations suddenly burst from the Chaos Stone.

Sweeping towards the outside of the circular pit.

Li Fan was caught off guard and couldn’t dodge it in time, so he was pierced through.

His expression changed suddenly, thinking he had been ambushed.

However, to his surprise, the wave turned out to be all sound and fury, signifying nothing.

He only felt a tingling sensation as if ants were crawling all over his body, but after the spiritual energy circulated once, it was quickly suppressed.

Li Fan was stunned, staring at the Chaos Stone, lost in thought.

“The chaos dissipates, leaving only its form and no essence.”

“Nevertheless, it still affects my Annihilation Sword of the Five Elements.”

Li Fan glanced at the place where the three energies had been entangled.

In the recent wave, they had already annihilated each other in mutual combat.

The last Black Death Symbol he wore had already dimmed to the point of being almost invisible.

It seemed like it would completely collapse in the next second.

If it were someone else in such a desperate situation, they would have already been in a panic and unable to think clearly.

However, with “Truth” as his foundation, Li Fan was not in the least panicked.

Without needing to consider his own danger, Li Fan’s thoughts quickly turned, continuing to contemplate.

After trying many different methods, when the Black Death Symbol completely collapsed.

The ubiquitous white mist around him, freed from restraint, began to devour Li Fan’s lifespan.

Just a few breaths later, Li Fan’s physiological age on the Truth Panel jumped from 51 to 52.

Although most of the 51 years had already passed, the terrifying speed at which the life-devouring mist consumed lifespan could still be seen.

As life rapidly passed before his eyes, instead of making Li Fan panic, it made his mind even cooler.

When Li Fan’s lifespan reached one hundred,

a moment of enlightenment struck, and his eyes suddenly lit up.

He leaped to the front of the broken stone and, using his hand as a brush, meticulously copied the traces of the character “Chaos” on the stone.

Writing stroke by stroke.

The brush strokes flowed swiftly, forming in an instant.

A faint golden light flashed and disappeared.

The chaotic character on the rubble seemed to regain some of its luster.

What amazed Li Fan was that the moment the chaotic character reappeared,

the spiritual energy within him was instantly depleted.

If it weren’t for the Nine Laws Golden Elixir sensing the danger and instantly transforming, the power of the Five Elements turned into a continuous supply of spiritual energy to replenish his exhausted body,

he might have been drained directly.

Even so, Li Fan felt his vision darken and nearly fell to the ground.

Fortunately, after absorbing all of Li Fan’s spiritual energy, the Chaos Stone also underwent a mysterious change.

The characters seemed to come to life, naturally emanating a terrifying aura.

The entire stone became ethereal.

It emitted a dream-like glow.

Even the age-devouring mist was forced back by the radiance emitted from the Chaos Stone, forming a vacuum zone around it.

Seeing this, Li Fan quickly hid inside to avoid excessive loss of lifespan.

Perhaps because the Chaos Stone activated this time by absorbing the spiritual energy within Li Fan’s body,

Li Fan did not sense its effect on himself after approaching the rubble.

However, he continuously heard creaking sounds from his surroundings. The sticky substances underground seemed to have come to life, beginning a bizarre twisting motion.

And Li Fan keenly noticed that the motionless mutated corpses standing in the circular pit were trembling slightly, as if they were about to come alive in the next second.

As the instigator of all this, Li Fan couldn’t help but feel his hair stand on end.

“This is not a place to stay for long.”

Observing the flickering light and the shifting reality of the Chaos Stone, Li Fan vaguely felt a sensation in his heart.

It was as if it were a gateway, one he could enter at any time.

His spiritual sense did not detect any danger ahead, but rather the only vitality was inside.

Without further hesitation, Li Fan flew towards it.

As Li Fan had expected, the stone seemed to be nonexistent.

Li Fan passed straight through it.

His vision blurred, endless white mist filled his eyes.

Finally, Li Fan left behind that treacherous maze and returned to the normal barrier of white mist.

Chapter 361 – The Domain of Confusion Sealed by the Word “Chaos”

It seemed that over the passage of time, even this fragment of stone had lost the power it once possessed.

Li Fan paused for a moment, held his breath, and slowly approached.

Even when he came right before the stone, he felt no change in his body.

Yet the vigilance in his heart did not relax.

This bewildering domain was filled with all manner of eerie phenomena—one could not afford the slightest carelessness.

He did not reach out to touch the stone fragment. Instead, he observed it carefully again from a short distance.

Half of the stone was embedded in the earth, roughly square in shape, about the span of a person’s outstretched arms.

Along its edges were clear signs of fracture.

It seemed to have been split from a larger, complete stone.

Before and after the character “乱” (Chaos, disorder), there must once have been other words carved.

Unfortunately, only this single character remained, entirely isolated—no trace of strokes from any preceding or following characters could be seen.

“Judging by the break, this isn’t naturally shattered. It looks deliberately severed.”

    Chaos…

“The disordered directions, the warped space, even the grotesque bodily distortions around this circular pit—could they all be tied to this character?”

“If a single word could truly stir such a multitude of aberrations…”

“Then what connection does this Chaos Stone have with the Heavenly Physician?”

Li Fan pondered for a moment and decided not to concern himself with it just yet. Instead, he searched the surroundings for any sign of an ‘exit.’

But to his disappointment, at the bottom of the circular crater, aside from the unknown, sticky substances spread everywhere—

There was only this stone bearing the word Chaos.

“The Reversed Beast now acts purely on instinct—it shouldn’t have deceived me.”

After some thought, Li Fan returned to the stone. Gathering his spiritual power, he lifted it from the ground.

It felt no different from an ordinary rock, neither light nor impossibly heavy—certainly not some fabled heavenly treasure.

Nor did lifting it reveal any suppressed exit beneath.

    Nothing unusual occurred.

    “How strange…”

Li Fan set the Chaos Stone back down and stroked his chin.

With little time remaining, he no longer searched for other possibilities.

Instead, he fixed his gaze on the stone before him, contemplating where the exit might be hidden.

Time was slipping away. After a brief moment, he raised a finger and casually flicked a streak of black light toward it.

As he retreated, he carefully observed the reaction between the Sword of Annihilation and the Chaos Stone.

The black sword light sped forth in an instant.

Yet just before impact, the light abruptly twisted.

Under Li Fan’s watchful eyes, three clusters of energy, extremely familiar to him, unraveled from the beam—

    Madness, Darkness, and Rotating Vortex…

They were precisely the three forces composing the Great Five Elements Sword of Annihilation: Heavenly Fiend (Tiansha), Ink Destruction (Mosha), and the Five Elements Force.

Under the influence of the Chaos Stone, the black radiance gradually faded.

What was more, these energies—energies that should have remained under Li Fan’s command—turned upon one another, clashing fiercely.

At the same time, an inexplicable wave suddenly erupted from the stone—

Sweeping outward beyond the circular pit.

Caught unprepared, Li Fan had no time to evade—it passed straight through him.

His expression changed sharply; he thought he had fallen into a trap.

Yet, to his surprise, the force was loud thunder with little rain.

All he felt was a tingling, as if ants were crawling through his meridians, but after one circulation of spiritual energy, it was quickly suppressed.

Li Fan blinked, staring at the Chaos Stone, deep in thought.

“The essence of the word has dispersed… only its form remains.”

“Even so, it could disturb my Five Elements Sword of Annihilation.”

    “…”

He glanced toward where the three energies had been entangled.

During that single wave, they had already annihilated each other in their struggle.

The final piece of Black Death Talisman on his person now shone so faintly it was nearly invisible—

It looked as though it might shatter at any moment.

If it had been anyone else facing such a desperate situation, their heart would have already descended into utter chaos, incapable of calm thought.

Yet with [True Return] as his foundation, Li Fan remained utterly unperturbed.

He need not fear for his own life. His thoughts raced on, rapidly turning.

After testing many different methods, the Black Death Talisman finally crumbled completely.

The omnipresent white mist around him, now unrestrained, began devouring his lifespan.

In just a few breaths, the biological age displayed on his True Return panel leapt from 51 to 52.

Though much of the 51 years had already waned, it still revealed the terrifying speed at which the Lifespan-Devouring Mist consumed time.

Life drained at a speed visible to the naked eye. Yet it did not make Li Fan panic—if anything, his mind grew clearer.

When his lifespan approached one hundred, a sudden clarity struck him.

Blessed by fortune, his eyes lit up.

He leapt toward the fractured stone, and with his hand as brush, traced the strokes of the character Chaos upon it.

Stroke by stroke, he rewrote the symbol.

The brush moved like coiling dragons and diving serpents—completed in an instant.

A faint sheen of golden light flickered and vanished.

The character carved upon the stone seemed to regain a trace of its original luster.

What shocked Li Fan was that in the very instant the character reappeared—

The spiritual energy within his body was utterly emptied.

If not for the Nine-Law Golden Core, which sensed danger and swiftly circulated, transforming the Five Elements into an unending stream to replenish his dried meridians—

He might have been completely drained then and there.

Even so, Li Fan felt darkness sweep before his eyes and nearly collapsed.

Yet after consuming all his spiritual power, the Chaos Stone underwent a strange transformation.

The carved character seemed to come alive, emanating a dread-inspiring aura.

    The entire stone turned ethereal—

    Radiating a dreamlike brilliance.

Even the Lifespan-Devouring Mist recoiled before its radiance, forming a ring of vacuum around it.

Seeing this, Li Fan quickly stepped inside to prevent further loss of years.

Perhaps because this activation had fed upon his own spiritual power, the stone no longer exerted chaos upon him when he approached.

However, cracking sounds echoed continuously around him—the viscous substances scattered underground began to writhe and contort, as though gaining life.

Li Fan also noticed that the motionless aberrant corpses standing within the pit were trembling ever so slightly, as if they might awaken at any moment.

As the one who had triggered all this, even Li Fan felt his hair stand on end.

“This is no place to remain.”

Gazing at the flickering, half-real, half-illusory Chaos Stone, a faint intuition stirred within his heart.

It was like a door—one he could step through at any time.

His spiritual sense detected no danger ahead—instead, it sensed that the only path of survival lay within.

Li Fan no longer hesitated—he threw himself toward it.

As he had suspected, the stone offered no resistance.

    He passed straight through.

His vision blurred—boundless white mist filled his sight.

Li Fan had finally left that realm of endless anomalies—

Returning to the familiar veil of the normal white fog barrier.
