Chapter 86-3: Guide Upgrade System (3)

Fortunately, Qi Sheng had already thought of a solution to this problem.

Guide’s Clone was formed from the extended tendrils of the Challenger System. Its use of rule-based abilities required no Sacrificial Power, but further extending its tendrils to increase range would require Sacrificial Power expenditure for enhancement.

At present, the creation cost for each Guide Clone was 300 Sacrificial Power (providing a coverage radius of 150 meters), and this cost had already been included when creating the players’ monster bodies (which cost 1000).

According to Guide testing, every additional 50 meters of coverage range required 100 Sacrificial Power.

In other words, spending Sacrificial Power could directly solve the Guide Clone’s range problem.

But Qi Sheng decided to pass this expense on to the players.

Though improving the system was his responsibility as the one pulling the strings behind the scenes, spending Sacrificial Power was clearly something better left to the players themselves.

After repeated testing with Guide, Qi Sheng decided to officially release the Guide Upgrade System.

That afternoon.

An update notification echoed in every player’s mind.

At the same time, the player forum published an officially certified update post detailing the changes.

[Challenger Notification (Update Notice): The game is about to undergo version 1.5 update. A new function ‘Guide Enhancement’ will be added to the function panel. Details as follows:]

Poster: Guide (Official Certification)

Guide Enhancement System Introduction:

Consume Sacrificial Power to strengthen Guide, unlocking additional features.

Guide Lv1 (Initial):

Function Introduction:

Analyze target information and provide detailed feedback.

After killing Evil Entities, monsters, and other lifeforms, assist players in extracting blood, flesh, and energy from the hunted target, converting it into Soul Evolution Points and Sacrificial Power rewards. Coverage radius: 150 meters.

Each level-up costs 100 Sacrificial Power, increasing the coverage radius by 50 meters per level.

Guide Lv10 Additional Feature:

Custom Guide Appearance.

Detailed Description:

Once upgraded to level 10, players may unlock the appearance customization feature. Through the customization interface, players can modify Guide’s facial features, add hairstyles, accessories, and other detailed elements to create a unique personal Guide image (players may choose whether this is displayed publicly or kept visible only to themselves).

(Note: This update will be applied online and requires no player logouts.)

The update post triggered heated discussion on the forum.

The official update thread quickly received over a thousand replies.

Evil Butcher: Damn, so Guide really did have a hidden coverage limit. No wonder I couldn’t get analysis info from distant targets and had to move closer for it to work… Looked at my Sacrificial Power balance, feels painful already.

Raging Chicken: Hahaha, serves you right for bragging all the time about your mage builds being the meta kings. Now you have extra costs while us melee folks don’t care. A 150-meter range is plenty for us, at least until we can fly or split mountains with a single slash (arrogant gold-farming face.jpg).

Darkness Approaches: I figured this out three days ago. I’m playing a mage build now. After using homing Inkflame Fireballs to kill distant targets, I still had to run up to them for the successful hunt notification. I thought that was just the core design. Didn’t expect them to release Guide’s Upgrade System. Great, another thing to burn Sacrificial Power on (Dirt Poor flips table.jpg).

Happy Little Hamster: Wow, the game finally added customization! I love this. Let me think what kind of Guide design I want… the waterball form’s out. How about a little devil? Or a tiny angel? So many ideas popping up, feels great.

Dark Land Is Fun: Seeing Guide’s Upgrade System reminded me, when is the dev team going to release skins and outfits? I’d even pay real cash! Give us some cool clothing options. I’m so sick of wearing the same default black cloth outfit. It doesn’t match my handsome face at all.

Lightning Five-Strike Whip: I’m also looking forward to outfits. Not sure if the devs read these comments. Wearing only this one black robe is too basic. As a great mage who controls lightning, the black cloth robe is beneath me. I demand a black robe embedded with magic stripes!

Game Gold-Farmer: I think the black cloth is fine. I don’t care whether they release outfits or not, I won’t buy them anyway (funny.jpg).

Is This a Beaver? replying to Game Gold-Farmer: Yo, even the busy gold-farmers have time to check the forum? Look at the time, it’s almost brawl time again (brawl countdown.jpg).

Players actively participated in the official thread to discuss the update.

Besides Guide’s upgrade feature, many players focused on requesting a costume system, saying the in-game clothing was too plain. Other than the system’s default black robe, there were no options.

They hoped the devs would release some aesthetically pleasing outfits, with many even stating they were willing to pay extra for them.

However, in Qi Sheng’s eyes, the costume feature was entirely meaningless. Whether it existed or not wouldn’t affect player strength in any way.

As for real-money purchases, they were utterly useless.

Credit coins were essentially just a string of numbers, only valid within the Human Federation. Alien forces outside the Human Federation didn’t recognize them, let alone in the Monster World.

By contrast, Sacrificial Power, which could be converted into all things, was the truly practical currency.

But even if meaningless, Qi Sheng felt he still needed to consider player demands.

Fulfilling player needs was, in essence, enhancing their gaming experience.

And this would also help the development of the Player Legion.

He planned to bundle the costume system with the soon-to-be-released Armed Vehicle feature, designing multiple sets of upgradeable equipment for players, with each Armed Vehicle carrying an attached visual costume effect.

However, until Transdimensional finished developing the Armed Vehicle system, Qi Sheng had no plans to implement any stand-alone costume feature.

This could serve as an auxiliary feature, but it would never be a priority.

It is good that you do not put aside the main mission, and even if you implement it, it should cost more points of sacrifice, nyejehjejejw
