Chapter 370: The Return of the Thunder God

In the jungle, a melodramatic life-and-death farewell scene was truly unfolding.

“Thor, put me down, don’t worry about me, or neither of us will get out of here!” In a hollow within the jungle, a mud-covered Che Guevara tried to push Thor away as he spoke.

At this moment, he was not only in a shabby state, but also had a bleeding wound on his side.

This injury was sustained earlier during a firefight with the surrounding troops.

“No, if we leave, we leave together!” Thor insisted and tried to support Che Guevara to leave.

Che Guevara obviously did not have the strength that Thor had and was almost carried by him.

But no matter how strong Thor was, as a mortal in such a harsh tropical rainforest environment, how fast could he really move carrying someone?

Soon, sounds came from the surroundings.

Thor and Che Guevara immediately knew that those American soldiers were closing in and their expressions turned even grimmer.

Both battle-hardened veterans had never felt such despair as today.

In the past, they had dealt with American soldiers before.

Not because they looked down on Americans—in their eyes, those American soldiers were just spoiled brats; even the special agents were not much stronger.

But this time was different.

This time, the American soldiers pursuing them were fearless, cruel, and ruthless—almost inhuman!

What Thor didn’t know was that some of those special American soldiers he had encountered before were, to some extent, not quite human.

Sure enough, before long, six cold-faced, fully armed soldiers strode out from the dense forest, surrounding Thor and the others.

They were the US’s Reconstructed Warriors.

If it weren’t for the US’s orders to capture Che Guevara and Thor alive if possible, these emotionless warriors would have already attacked with various weapons.

“Well, now it’s hard to run away!” Looking at the six US soldiers who surrounded them with guns aimed, Che Guevara sneered bitterly.

“No way. I will get you out of here with me!” Thor held his AK with a bayonet fixed, shielding Che Guevara behind him as he said in a low voice.

At the same time, he couldn’t help but start missing his little hammer.

In the past year, with the help and care of comrades like Che Guevara, he had indeed once forgotten his former identity.

But now, he deeply missed his original identity—the Thunder God.

He missed himself when he fought across the Nine Realms.

If his divine power was still intact, what was there to fear from these mere mortals?

But immediately, seeing the reconstructed warriors continuing to surround them, the helplessness of being unable to change the situation surged in his heart again.

If only...Mjölnir was still here...

What Thor didn’t know was that thousands of kilometers away, in the deep pit where the Thunder God’s hammer had fallen, Mjölnir—once quietly lying there—had vanished without a trace.

“You are surrounded. Drop your weapons and surrender!” At this moment, the US commander hidden in the jungle shouted a surrender order to Thor and the other who were now completely trapped.

“Dream on! Come and get us if you dare!” Although knowing he wasn’t a match for these strange humans, “surrender” was clearly not in Thor’s dictionary. He picked up the bayonet, ready for a last stand.

The reason he grabbed the bayonet was obvious—the bullets in his gun were long gone.

Che Guevara’s pistol still had one bullet left, but he was saving that for himself.

“Hmph! Stubborn...Squad A, try to capture them alive!” The jungle commander snorted coldly and gave the final order.

The six reconstructed warriors lowered their guns, picked up their combat knives, and approached Thor and Che Guevara.

Facing their approach, Thor immediately understood their intention and decided to strike first, charging at the nearest reconstructed warrior with his bayonet.

From several previous skirmishes, Thor was not unfamiliar with these strange American soldiers.

He knew they were physically tough, fearless of death, and insensitive to pain, with very high resistance to injury—even if half their body or half their brain was blown off, they could keep fighting.

But that didn’t mean they couldn’t die—although vibranium was used in their creation, it was only sparingly applied to neural conduction areas and offered little defensive effect.

In fact, Thor had already killed one of them, though at a huge cost—the accompanying guard force was wiped out, and Che Guevara’s injury was inflicted at that time.

It was also then that Thor found an electronic device—a damaged microcomputer—inside the brain of the dead reconstructed warrior, whose brain was almost like a rotten watermelon.

From this, they deduced the weakness of these strange soldiers: the electronic device.

And their guess was correct.

For years, various robots from Josh’s company had been sold worldwide, entering thousands of American households.

Under these circumstances, it was impossible for related agencies not to study the technology.

Of course, due to technological gaps and protections, completely cracking the technology was impossible, but this didn’t stop breakthroughs during their research.

The control core of these reconstructed warriors was one such product.

Destroying this core would cause the warrior to shut down.

So Thor’s hope was to strike the opponent’s vital spot in one blow.

Therefore, after the battle began, Thor aimed his bayonet at the opponent’s eye socket—because compared to the relatively hard human skull, the eye socket is the most fragile and leads directly to the brain but obviously, Thor was overthinking.

He guessed their weakness, but as artificial soldiers, the reconstructed warriors knew their own weak spots in their database, so how could Thor succeed?

Facing Thor’s fierce attack, one grabbed his arm, blocking the bayonet, making all of Thor’s efforts futile.

The other warriors arrived and swarmed, restraining Thor.

Che Guevara wanted to help but was too weak from blood loss to stand.

One reconstructed warrior merely passing by flipped him over, rendering him unable to rise.

Soon, the two subdued were completely restrained and loaded onto a military vehicle.

Although this operation went smoothly, this was not American soil, so the US military’s actions here were illegal.

They had to transfer Thor and Che Guevara back to the US before the news leaked.

“Boss, are we just going to watch?” The mage who had been monitoring Thor in the mirror space asked Josh as they watched Thor being escorted into the vehicle.

“No rush, let the hammer fly a little longer!” Josh glanced casually at the distant sky.

He had thought it would take a real life-or-death crisis for Thor’s seal to be lifted, but just being captured was enough to stir the hammer.

Whether Odin had held back or it was Thor’s own mental changes, Josh wasn’t sure.

The mage didn’t understand, but since Josh said so, he didn’t ask further.

Soon he understood what Josh meant.

Less than two minutes passed.

The once blazing clear day suddenly turned overcast, with thunder and lightning booming.

Then, a huge bolt of lightning struck the US convoy directly on the armored vehicle carrying Thor.

As the smoke cleared, Thor appeared in the eyes of many US soldiers, clad in shining armor and wielding a war hammer.

The reconstructed warriors and soldiers didn’t know what happened, but seeing the fugitive escape, they immediately attacked Thor.

However, this time the situation was completely reversed.

With just one hammer strike, a reconstructed warrior was blasted away by lightning, instantly falling motionless.

The once majestic Thunder God had returned!
