Chapter 1993: The Cultivation Problem |
Hye kept fighting and using his technique for three straight days. He didn’t rest much, focused on adding as many warriors as he could. Eventually, the grand army of millions that the Toranks sent here was finally crushed, leaving none behind.
They were either killed or were now serving Hye as their new master.
Hye was dead tired, but he couldn’t rest. Moth came just after the battle started, and he waited to talk with him.
The Hescos proposed to send forces from their side, but Hye refused. He wanted to give his warriors enough experience at dealing with such types of battles. After all, Hye didn’t intend to stay behind for far too long and handle the situation himself.
At some point, after taking enough warriors to satisfy his needs, he would start training. He needed to get stronger, and his current power might be enough to dominate this zone. But once he learned about the presence of other higher zones out there, he wanted to go and crush them as well.
Not to mention, even after two months of his arrival, he didn’t actually set foot into the real Outer Battlefield.
These zones were considered part of his universe. The real Outer Battlefield was considered the grand stretch of land that covered and involved both universes’ forces and races.
He wanted to go there; he wanted to get a taste of how wars erupted against the forces of the other universe. Not to mention, that was where the real merit came.
Hye slept for a few days after that fight. He was dead tired, and there wasn’t anything that needed his attention. He left the different tasks for his capable friends and generals to handle, while he retreated to plan properly for the future.
Back when he won the apocalypse, he learned from other races he gained from the other universe about the importance of having a training manual to follow. Or else, training blindly and just trying to increase one’s cultivation base grade would become impossible.
Since he learned about that point, he tried to come up with his unique training manual. His cultivation power was related to darkness, and he thought of going to visit that dark world, but failed.
He didn’t know why, but since completing the apocalypse, he seemed to lose access to that place. And thanks to that, he felt like his cultivation would stagnate regardless of whatever he tried.
According to what he heard from those races back at his kingdom, he learned about many common and even unique cultivation manuals. He wanted to learn, then improvise, and come up eventually with something that suited his cultivation.
Yet the more he learnt, the more puzzled and confused he became. Every cultivation manual was like a whole different world from the others; all were based entirely on different rules and concepts.
Some would focus on expanding internal spirit power, some would work on the spiritual sea, while others would focus on the body, and a few would consider developing the connection between oneself and the world.
Everything looked diverse and apart, and that added more confusion to Hye. Still, he never dropped his interest in learning and even asked for stories and experiences related to cultivation and growing strong.
Eventually, he learned a ton, but got zero value in the end. That was why he was now sitting inside one of the bases he had conquered, pondering over this problem, and looking down.
"This problem sounds more complicated than it looks on the surface."
He eventually sighed. No matter how he tried to think about a solution, he failed. All the knowledge he gained didn’t help, and he refused to blindly do what other races from his universe did; stupidly absorbing spirit power and levelling their cultivation bases without a roadmap.
"I can’t do it this way, or else I’ll hit a stagnant wall, not a bottleneck by the end."
He sighed while thinking of how to solve this problem. His little hope, though, remained in what he heard from the other universe’s races. They spoke about a clan, one that had the same cultivation as himself: darkness.
Yet from what he heard, they were quite savage, brutal, strong, and hard to reason with. Not to mention, in the latest years before those races would get entrapped, which was a long time ago, those folks vanished from their universe.
Hye felt like gaining a clue, ending up in an unsolvable maze. Yet he didn’t give up. He couldn’t give in. He wanted to solve this problem so his road to the very top would be easily paved and properly planned.
After days of thinking, he didn’t reach anywhere. Yet something kept bothering him. He felt the urge to go and fight at the real Outer Battlefield to gain some inspiration.
Just as he was thinking about that, news arrived of new forces coming from the universe. He was bored, so he opened a portal and passed through. This time, he made sure to save a location far from the appearing spot of the different forces.
"Don’t they have anything else to do but throw their people to me?"
Once he arrived, he instantly recognised the Toranks’ banner. This army was no less in size than the previous one. And Hye couldn’t believe they sent two armies in such a short time difference to just take him down.
Yet he didn’t complain. The more forces he added to his side, the faster he would be ready to depart for the Outer Battlefield.
This fight lasted for five straight days. What added more time to it was the sudden arrival of a new army in the middle of the ongoing battle. Seeing they were also the Toranks made Hye roll his eyes.
"I can’t believe they have nothing else but to throw more armies my way!"
By the time the fight ended, and just before he would go and rest, another army appeared. This time it was the Hescos, and that made him ponder why they sent an army here.
