Chapter 1994: The Universal War |
When Hye thought back to how the Toranks sent three armies on such short notice, everything sounded logical. The Hescos seemed to send reinforcements. Be it that they heard of what happened here, or they grew wary of the Toranks’ weird moves, they decided to send an army to support Moth.
And that army just came in time. As it didn’t just carry support, it carried news about the universe. And it seemed there were lots of changes happening back in the universe that no one here was aware of.
The first bomb that the new army dropped was the ongoing great war in the entire universe, a universal war, between the Hescos and their allies on one side, and the Toranks and their allies on the other.
The news was quite shocking for different reasons. Hye and Moth knew more than others, knew how the Toranks lost a lot by the destruction of their ready God Weapon.
So hearing that the Toranks responded by issuing a universal war was quite surprising and a totally unexpected move. In return, Moth and Hye met inside one of the bases around the arrival zone of universal armies.
"I’m sure you heard the news," Moth sighed, while staring at Hye, "what do you think?"
"A wounded beast wants to bite other beasts to scare them away," Hye shrugged, "or perhaps the hit they received was quite severe to turn them crazy."
"Or they hide another ace card up their sleeves, and they want to pay back double what we did to them."
Moth’s words were quite weird, and it made Hye suspect he didn’t hear everything. So he kept his silence, directly looked at Moth, and the latter sighed.
"Any race?" Hye narrowed his eyes, "and how are we supposed to do that? And why?"
Moth hesitated for a moment, and that told Hye he wasn’t telling him everything.
"I don’t know why the Grand Elder asked us to do it, but all I know is that something crucial the enemies are in desperate need of will come from the Outer Battlefield. And we are asked to stop anyone coming."
Hye looked in doubt towards Moth, yet he didn’t stress over why for now. He knew, one way or another, he would find a chance to push this Hescos Elder and make him speak.
"Then how come we’ll stop anyone from leaving if we are only controlling one zone?"
Hye thought of other zones, and he knew even if they controlled this zone, other zones were still out of their control.
Yet he was mistaken.
"Other zones don’t matter," Moth said, "the only way back to our universe is through this zone. That’s why the Toranks sent three armies trying to establish a base here. Even if the Toranks in our universe didn’t get the news yet, they will eventually sniff what’s going on here."
He paused before his tone turned serious.
"And when that will happen, the gates of hell will open upon us. We’ll face an endless tsunami of enemies from both the zones in the Outer Battlefield and the armies coming from our universe."
"This..."
Hye knew they had an advantage right now, which was in the lack of a single base controlled by the Toranks and their allies. Yet he knew this wasn’t going to stop the enemies for long. After all, there was another route to come from other zones to here. It was through taking a test, a tiring and long path it was, but eventually lots of enemies would arrive here.
And when that would happen, their advantage would be gone. And in terms of numbers, the enemies would topple that easily. Not to mention the enemies coming from other zones would be far stronger than the current strongest warriors they have.
"I know it’s a desperate situation, and to add more to it, we can’t ask for help from the universe side," Moth sighed, "the enemies are putting great pressure on us. According to what I received, almost eight out of the top ten races in the universe are fighting together against us. Only the Hectors are taking the neutral side, and didn’t get themselves into this mess."
"They are wise indeed," Hye slowly said, yet his tone carried no hint of humour, "but that means we will need to work with everything we have here. What do you have in mind?"
Hye knew he could use his technique to add more strong warriors to their side, yet this would be a long and slow process, and quite dangerous as well.
He saw how controlling one strong warrior took a long time and effort to accomplish. So, trying to build everything on such a plan was quite risky.
Not to mention, there were other stronger warriors out there, way stronger than the strongest he controlled so far. So he couldn’t be sure of his technique’s success and role in all this.
"The first thing we need to do is to purge the entire zone," Moth suddenly turned ruthless, "putting you and the Hectors aside, any other race base must be claimed no matter what."
"This..."
Hye knew they purged lots of race-based groups already, but there were still a lot who joined their side based on the promise of safety. But now Moth wanted to ditch all that outward. And yet he had a proper point.
"Their races back in the universe are taking the side of the Toranks. It’s just a matter of time anyway before they will change sides."
He paused, before seriously adding:
"And we need to delay any chance for the Toranks and their strongest allies to establish a footing here. It will serve us no good if we woke up one day and found a base changing ownership and the Toranks flooded this zone with their armies."
Hye knew Moth got a proper point, yet he got an idea.
