Chapter 235: Titles and Skills |
Before using the Blood of God, Bai Mu briefly explained its effects to Xiao Wei. This item would weaken the user's survivability. Without good armor and defensive skills, using it might not necessarily be a good thing. Before consuming the Blood of God, Bai Mu asked for Xiao Wei's opinion. If she did not want to use it yet, they could always leave it in the storage for now.
After all, she only had two offensive skills at the moment, and neither of them consumed much energy. With her current Mana, she was fully equipped to handle most situations. To be safe, she could wait until she acquired more skills before using it.
Xiao Wei, however, did not mind at all. She drank the Blood of God without a second thought.
The item's effect was immediate. After a faint green glow, Xiao Wei acquired the "Mountain Beast God" bloodline. This bloodline caused a slight shift in her "aura". Although there were no obvious changes to her appearance or physical build, she now radiated a faint sense of vibrant vitality. Her presence had become much stronger, making her much easier to notice.
Her Mana skyrocketed straight from 100 points to 279 points, surpassing even Bai Mu's attributes with a near three-fold increase. Her Mana recovery rate had also received a massive boost. This was all while her base attributes were still quite low; as she grew stronger, these enhancements would become increasingly apparent. As for her physical attributes being halved, the impact was not particularly severe for her. After using the Blood of God, she gained a buff called "Mountain God's Blessing". This was an innate buff that came with the Mountain Beast God bloodline. Whenever she was in environments like forests or grasslands, this buff would enhance all of Xiao Wei's abilities. However, since she was currently in a Community room surrounded by modern facilities, the bonus from "Mountain God's Blessing" was limited to its most basic effect.
That basic effect raised any base attribute that fell below 5 points after the reduction back up to exactly 5 points.
In other words, this bloodline guaranteed that a player's attributes would remain at a barely usable minimum of 5 points, preventing them from becoming completely crippled. Because of this, it was as if Xiao Wei had only lost 1 point in Strength and 2 points in Agility. Agility was essentially an irrelevant attribute for her anyway. As for the single point of Strength she lost, it did not stop her from wielding a kitchen knife or lifting a stew pot; it merely required a tiny bit more effort than before.
The biggest drawback remained the thirty percent drop to her maximum Health. Nearly a third of her health bar was grayed out. If this had happened to a solo player, it would have been a massive headache. However, she was a summon and would never encounter a situation where she had to act entirely alone. Taking everything into consideration, the Blood of God was practically a comprehensive upgrade for her.
After using this Unique item obtained from killing the final boss, Bai Mu turned his attention to the two new titles he had acquired.
[Title Grade: A]
[Effect: When this title is equipped, you gain the passive skill Intimidation, which has a chance to drastically alter the attitudes of certain script characters.]
[Acquisition Requirement: Kill a "God" in any script.]
This was an A-grade title. Its effect was somewhat similar to "Walking Headline". If Walking Headline planted an extra identity on him as a shipwreck survivor who made the front page, then this title essentially transformed him from a nobody into a "God Slayer" in the eyes of certain non-player characters. The phrase "drastically alter" indicated that the shift in attitude would be truly massive, perhaps even turning friends into enemies, or enemies into friends.
And that passive skill, "Intimidation", was also quite interesting:
[Skill Name: Intimidation]
[Type: Passive Skill]
[Effect: You will be less susceptible to surprise attacks from enemies. When facing you, enemies have a chance to abandon the fight and flee.] [Note: 'If I attacked just now, I would have definitely been killed. Who exactly is this guy? He is completely full of openings, yet my instincts are screaming at me that he is dangerous.']
It seemed that by equipping this title, he would turn into an overpowered protagonist radiating an aura of absolute dominance wherever he went, capable of directly scaring off certain monsters and thereby avoiding some battles.
It was a fantastic title for scripts teeming with hordes of monsters.
However, he figured this title would probably be useless against mindless enemies. Take the Zombies in Dave's Backyard, for example. Even if he was a "God Slayer", those Zombies would certainly not be intimidated by him. It would definitely be ineffective against robotic enemies as well. It was essentially a situational title that would prove highly effective in specific scenarios.
He then looked at the other title:
[Title: Savior]
[Title Grade: B]
[Effect: When this title is equipped, you gain the skill Emergency Treatment, and you will more easily gain the favor of characters in the good faction.]
[Acquisition Requirement: Cumulatively rescue 100 script characters.]
[Skill Name: Emergency Treatment]
[Type: Active Skill]
[Effect: Restores a small amount of Health to the target and clears the Bleeding status. Can only be used once per target every 24 hours.] [Cost: None]
[Note: "After this battle is over, I am going home to marry my wife."]
It was a title with an attached healing skill. Although it had a limit on its uses, the fact that the skill cost nothing to cast was a massive advantage. If he brought this title onto a battlefield, he could simply stay in the backlines, play the part of a field medic, ferry wounded soldiers back and forth, and farm rescue Points.
Free things were always welcome. It was definitely a good title, and at the very least, it was far more useful than "Mushroom Enthusiast".
With all these matters sorted out, Bai Mu proceeded to claim his ending rewards.
He could choose two Rare-grade skills or pieces of equipment. If he had not obtained the Blood of God, he most likely would have picked equipment first. But now that he had the bullets, how could he not get a cannon to fire them?
Since he had acquired the Blood of God, he naturally had to put it to good use. Therefore, Bai Mu opted to claim permanent Skill Cards, hoping to get two useful offensive or auxiliary skills.
[Do you wish to claim the Permanent Skill Cards (Rare)?]
[You have obtained a Permanent Skill Card (Summon Beast Spirit)]
[You have obtained a Permanent Skill Card (Light of Healing)]
[Name: Summon Beast Spirit]
[Type: Active Skill]
[Quality: Rare]
[Effect: Consume 50 to 300 points of Mana to selectively summon an offensive, defensive, or auxiliary beast spirit. The beast spirit's capabilities depend on the amount of Mana consumed. The beast spirit will disappear when its Health is depleted or after 30 minutes. Only one beast spirit can exist at a time.]
[Note: "My turn! I summon my beast spirit in attack position!"]
[Name: Light of Healing]
[Type: Active Skill]
[Quality: Rare]
[Effect: Clears Poison, Burn, Bleeding, Freeze, and Tear negative effects, and restores 20% of maximum Health. Cooldown: 60 seconds.] [Cost: 50 Mana]
[Note: "As long as I am here, no one will get hurt."]
