An Immortal does not differentiate between good and evil, nor do they care about the distinction between black and white. They do not ask what is right or wrong, and consider all living things as dogs. In spite of everything, Immortals pursue the Dao with bitter resolve.

Any being who disturbs my Dao, good or evil, will be forced to meet their karma, reduced to nothing more than ashes. Collapse

This MC is the first one I have ever seen that has a goal so fundamentally harmful to every living thing that I think IT not He or They is truly the most Cruel yet not evil character I have ever come across. The reason I call Xu Disheng a IT is because they were never human in the first place and to achieve his goal he will become something incomprehensible, not eldritch but *Something else*. Xu Disheng can be likened to a Heavenly Demon but IT is not evil IT simply is, like a hurricane IT doesn't hate you or enjoy your suffering, you're simply in it's way and it's only natural for a mortal to find shelter or perish...

Review after reading upto chapter 281.

    Short review:

Plot:4/5 (deep lore but sometimes confusing.)
MC (personality): 3.5/5 (something is wrong with him)
Side characters: 4/5 (not 2d characters atleast most of them)
Grammar: 4.5/5 (I'm a xianxia reader so take it witha pinch of salt)

    Final rating: 4/5

    Long review:
Might be a bit spoiler-ish but nothing major.

This story starts off pretty unique in terms of setting, and MC's background while standard low level area origin, he has top tier talent (at the beginning) so there is a major W for no bs like trash this trash that.

Although the world in this is a little ruthless atleast people aren't just 2D characters being offended at every turn.

The lore of the story is also deep but high level cultivation ranks becomes confusing.

I like the sect a lot, although it is authoritarian, rules are followed and people are punished.

And here ends the good part.

    the story just goes downhill.
There are multiple drawn out tournament arcs which is more like a dc*k measuring contest of who is more wealthy and influential.

Every time MC is on the verge of losing, Boom!
    comes to save his ass.
And not once but this has already happened more that 5 times.

There are multiple pov chapters of absolute nobodys who will die probably next chapter.

While this novel does avoid cliches it seems it still cannot subdue the demons known as Young masters.
Cultivators here are cultivating for decades and centuries but are emotional like a 12 year old.

    Here ends the bad part.

Although I criticized it a lot if you have the same passive power of turing your brain off for couple of paragraphs/chapter as me then it is a good read. peepo001

Quite an unusual novel from the rest that I've read. It's actually pretty good. Worth reading

The Novel isn't bad, but the author has a crippling over reliance on foreshadowing and side characters, to the point where some chapters are incoherent.

Which is a shame, because they subvert many of the tropes of cultivation novels while still staying true to it's essence. Small spoiler ahead:
