Chapter 5137: We’re Acquaintances

At this moment, Jillian Hayden opened her eyes.

She even smiled a bit as she found herself awakening on the ground rather than the bed, which was a new experience.

She coughed twice, feeling oppressed by the remnant death energy still revolving in her body, but at the same time, she also felt a bit relieved by a strange pure white energy. Pressing the ground, she stood up weakly, turning to look around and finding herself still alive after a group of assassins had appeared.

They had all been at the Exalt or Primarch Stage, leaving her absolutely terrified, yet she was still alive magically.

At this point, she wondered how she could have this kind of luck as she slowly walked to the black-robed man while holding her abdomen.

This time, she was able to look at his features clearly.

The room was dimly lit, yet the black-robed man’s features appeared surprisingly clear in her eyes.

Blonde hair cascaded behind his shoulders. His face was handsome, but not in the refined and delicate way young masters often flaunted. There was a sharpness to him, a quiet confidence that seemed completely indifferent to the situation relentlessly chasing him.

When he turned to look at her, his sapphire eyes were like the brightest pearls hidden deep in the ocean, carrying an inexplicable clarity.

"..."

Jillian Hayden momentarily found herself at a loss for words, her gaze moving away when she found something. Her pupils dilated as she saw an assassin still alive... and being... healed?

"What’s going on here? Why are you healing someone who came to kill you?"

Davis shrugged, "It turned out that we’re acquaintances. His target was the City Lord, but that guy is already dead, so..."

He raised his brows and got back to making sure that the Truesoul of the Ghost Tear Hall’s Founder didn’t collapse.

Jillian Hayden’s lips twitched.

He was acquaintances with a ghost, so this assassination attempt was a misunderstanding? How magical.

She turned to look around as she panned her gaze across the chamber, not wanting to be fazed anymore by the things she was going to face in the future.

But she understood one thing.

That important person who ruined her Hayden Family and the Miredon Family, and this assassin, his allies all seemed to be big shots. His strength was also great enough to possess the City Lord and then even thwart many ghosts and corpses at the High-Level Exalt Stage.

She simply couldn’t comprehend what exactly he was here to do since he claimed he would leave before she knew it.

After making sure nothing in the chamber was funny, she got onto the bed and sat in a lotus position.

"Heal me." She said softly.

Davis blinked. He didn’t respond.

"I’m going to help you as a poison apothecary, so it’s your duty to keep me alive." Jillian Hayden turned to look at him.

"I did help you keep you alive. You think you can defend against the energy wreaking havoc in your body? Ask nicely." Davis smirked.

"..." Jillian Hayden’s bosoms heaved. Her gaze moved away from him, "Please heal me with that strange energy from that white stone treasure."

Davis nearly laughed. This woman thought his life energy was from the white stone replica. She couldn’t tell it was life energy, making him wonder if she had seen even wood, light and water energy in her lifetime since her realm was sealed.

With a flick of his pinky finger, he sent her a minute strand of life energy to heal her.

Jillian Hayden raised her chin lightly as the surge of this energy inside her made her feel like she was floating in a spring. Her pores naturally opened to receive this energy, finding no ill intentions. It was a strange feeling, but she didn’t think much and started focusing on driving this energy to clear the remnant death energy wreaking havoc in her body.

Soon, Jillian Hayden was healed, and the Ghost Tear Hall’s Founder also stood up.

He raised his hand and clenched his fist. Although he didn’t have a body, the white stone replica had been what allowed him to maintain an energy body. Now, his body was no longer there. However, he still had his ghost form, which now looked incorporeal and didn’t look like a specter anymore. He was a proper ghost now instead of a wraith that was going to go on a vengeful rampage. He was firmly in control of his essence and soul and could even create an energy body or fleshly body if he wanted to.

"Words cannot describe what I’m feeling right now. It’s truly incredible that I can survive without the treasure."

"What about your Godskull?"

Davis asked with a faint smile.

The damned white stone held an entire world of ghosts and corpses since it wasn’t only the Exalt and Primarch Stage ghosts that occupied it. There were millions of ghosts inside. It was crazy.

"It doesn’t matter where they are as long as they worship me. Ghost faith is easier to gather than the faith from the living since the ghosts are mostly just a mass of resentment, which is a form of faith in their own desire to live or take revenge, making it easier to extract. Furthermore, even visiting an ancient cemetery as a Divine Exalt Ghost can allow you to harvest the faith of ’death’ from those who don’t even know you. You should also consider following the path of Divine Exalt in the future since my Withering Ghost Tome’s Godskull makes it possible for you to do the same."

Davis looked intrigued. No wonder Lady Thunderwraith didn’t seem to be at a loss when he asked if Divine Exalt Path would be difficult for her since she was a ghost.

It seemed like ghosts had the perk of extracting the air of death as faith energy, just like how Yama fed on deathly air.

Nonetheless, he shook his head, "If I did that, wouldn’t these ghosts in the white stone all shift their faith to me?"

"Doesn’t matter. I’ll start from the beginning, gather and store a lot of ghosts and corpses in my life ring. Don’t let the Primarch and Exalt Stage ghosts and corpses out easily. They’re dangerous without the white stone’s suppression. Apart from the treasure, my eyes can keep them suppressed, but in front of you, I’m not sure..."

"Understood."

Davis accepted the advice with a nod.

The Ghost Tear Hall’s Founder paused, appearing as though he wanted to say something before he shook his head and turned to look at Jillian Hayden.

Jillian Hayden also looked back at him but lowered her gaze rather quickly since she couldn’t withstand the deathly swirling eyes. It struck fear into the heart.

The Ghost Tear Hall’s Founder returned his gaze and smirked, "You’re every bit of the man I heard you were. Always accompanied by a woman, even if you are here for a secretive matter."

"..." Davis went speechless.

He didn’t need to turn to look at Jillian Hayden to see that her guard had gone up.

"Speak, what do you want?" The Ghost Tear Hall’s Founder continued, "Do you need my help?"

Davis was about to shake his head but reconsidered. He nodded, "I don’t need any particular help other than distracting the Heaven’s Warriors. If you could do that while managing to escape, then-"

"Say no more."

The Ghost Tear Hall’s Founder said coldly before handing over his life’s work, which contained his techniques.

Of the dozens of jade slips, Davis’s was most interested in the Hateless Ghost Emperor Steps!

It seemed to be at Mid-Level Exalt Grade, making him nearly jump in excitement.

With just a sweep of his soul sense, the jade slip also revealed higher-grade versions of the techniques he practiced.

[Dark Depths Avatar Mirage]

[Accursed Heir’s Presence]

[Soul-Devouring Doom Eyes]

[Deathward Seacloak Dominion]

[Midnight Calamity Avarice]

[Grim Death’s Awakening]

[Withering Ghost Tome]

From an illusion technique, four Divine Techniques, and one necromancy technique, all of them were more or less at Low-Level or Mid-Level Exalt Grade.

There was also the Ghost Withering Tome that led up to High-Level Divine Exalt Grade. It was nearly a complete manual, only lacking the path to enter the True Deity Stage.

Davis was evidently overjoyed by this gesture.

He threw all the jade slips into his ring and cupped his hands, bowing slightly.

"Many thanks, founder."

"Hmm."

The Ghost Tear Hall’s Founder nodded before simply disappearing.
