Chapter 395: interview · 1(part One)

Shier was already prepared to be attacked by the remnants of the trial court at night.

She had set many traps in the room with instant freezing spells engraved on them. The powerful perception of the spirit of frost also allowed her to predict the enemy’s approach in advance.

But shier did not expect the trial court to come so quickly. Although it was already late at night, it was far from the time when the people of the country of frost fell asleep..

She held the longsword tightly in her hand and hid in the shadows of the room. Through the perception provided by the spirit of Frost, she quietly listened to the footsteps of the adjudicators outside the room.

One… No, three.

Shier immediately judged the number of adjudicators based on the number of footsteps. She held the hilt of the longsword slightly tightly.

The adjudicators were not easy to deal with. Even if shier had the golden finger provided by the firegiver, under the premise that they were already prepared, shier still had to go through a tough battle.

The continuous battle for three days had already exhausted shier. She began to consider temporarily avoiding this battle and looking for the help of Marshal Amut.

However, the footsteps outside suddenly disappeared. What replaced it was the sound of something sharp piercing through flesh and blood.

Arrows!

Shier immediately figured out what was happening outside. Someone had used a bow and arrow to pierce through the body of one of the adjudicators. The sound of blood spurting out could be clearly heard in Shier’s ears.

Then there was the sound of a knife cutting through the neck. The other judge did not even have time to cry out in pain before he clutched his neck and fell to the ground.

Someone had attacked the three judges, and it was a skilled archer and killer.

Shier immediately pushed open the door of his room and saw a figure covered in a black robe fighting with a judge.

There were two seriously injured judges lying on the ground. Shier did not even pull out her long sword from its sheath. The black-robed man waved the dagger in her hand and killed the other judge.

The three judges all fell in a pool of blood. They did not die. The blood spurting out of their necks delayed their death, but they would soon die from blood loss or lack of oxygen.

“Who… Are You?”

Shier held his sword tightly and looked at the person in front of him vigilantly before asking.

The ground paved with stones was filled with gullies of all sizes. The three judges had resisted before they died, but all of their resistance was futile.., they were completely powerless in front of the black-robed person.

“Me? A reporter.”

The Dark Elf pulled down the hood on her head, a professional smile on her face.

Before Joshua let the Dark Elf do this job, he had specially reminded the dark elves of the rules of all kinds of reporters. One of them was that they must not force others to interview them, and they must act close to them during the interview..

From then on, when the Dark Elves were working, they would try their best to act according to the rules that Joshua had mentioned, including this time.

Unfortunately, no matter how beautiful the smile on the Dark Elf’s face was this time, the blood on her body and the corpse lying under her feet made it impossible for her to associate herself with the word ‘close’.

“Reporter? Is that a special title that you elves use when hunting the Inquisitor?”

Through thousand-face’s ears and skin color, shier recognized thousand-face’s race as an elf.

Sheyer had seen several related posts on the Spellcaster Forum regarding the Blackwood forest fire incident, so she understood the hatred between the elf race and the Heretic Court.

That was why she took the initiative to assassinate these three adjudicators. Everything seemed to be logical.

“I didn’t expect that there would be elves surviving in the frost country, but thank you for helping me get rid of these adjudicators. Is there anything I can help you with?”Sheyer said.

According to Shier’s guess, this elf must have heard that she wanted to know more about the adjudicators, so she came over to join her.

“Your understanding of the profession of journalist might be a little wrong, but it’s okay. I’m actually here to interview you.”

The Dark Elf was slightly relieved to see that shier was so easy to talk to. She finally didn’t have to put her sword against someone’s neck during this interview.

“Elf, I don’t understand your language.”Shier could not understand the meaning of the word ‘interview’.

“An interview is not elf language.”The Dark Elf looked at the young prince.

The Prince, who had lived in the frost kingdom for three years, still knew very little about Nolan’s recent changes. She had not even watched television, so she was even more unable to understand what an interview meant.

“Have you listened to the voice of Nolan?”

From the information that the Dark Elves received from Joshua, they knew that Prince Shier had a magic web client and a leaf from the world tree.

“The Voice of Nolan? A small spell on the magic web. Wait… You Know About the magic web?”

Shier’s vigilance rose to another level. She looked at the Dark Elf up and down.

Her dark purple skin did not look like a characteristic of a frost elf.

“Not only do I know about the magic net, I’m also from Nolan. I work for the voice of Nolan, young prince. Since you’ve listened to the voice of Nolan, can you tell me which show you like the most?”

During the interrogation, the Dark Elf wore a smile that she thought was the most approachable. But in the next second, she pulled out a throwing knife from her waist and threw it out, she dealt with a judge who was trying to crawl away from the place.

Shier looked at the blood spurting out from the ground again. She was a little numb. She had seen enough of this scene in the fortress.

“The show where the Frost Elf named Tyreen Sings Tonight?”

Shier realized that the identity of the Dark Elf in front of her was not simple, but she did not plan to call the soldiers to catch the Dark Elf.

This was the first time shier had met a friend in the real world who could talk about the magic net!

“The program of the Frost Elf… have you heard the daytime news?”The Dark Elf asked again.

“The program that will tell the listeners about some valuable things that happened in Nolan Yesterday?”Shier described the daytime news in a somewhat awkward way, and the Dark Elf nodded.

“You can also understand it that way, and my job is to collect those ‘valuable things’. This is what you call a reporter,”the Dark Elf said to shier after a very short introduction.

“The people of Nolan are very curious about what you have done for the Frost Kingdom. They want to know your views on the Judgers and the Holy Church. That’s why I rushed here from Nolan to interview you.”

BRINGING CULTURE TO A DIFFERENT WORLD 395 - Interview · 1 (Part One)
Shier, anticipating an attack from the remnants of the heretical tribunal, had fortified her room with intricate traps. Instant freezing spells, etched into the floor and walls, lay dormant, waiting to ensnare any intruders. The Frost Spirit, perched on her shoulder, amplified her senses, providing an early warning system.

Yet, she hadn't expected the assault to come so swiftly. While the hour was late, the city of Frostfell was far from slumber.
Clutching her longsword, Shier remained hidden in the room's shadows, her ears straining to catch the sounds of approaching enemies. The Frost Spirit's perception painted a vivid picture of the scene outside.

    One... no, three.

Shier swiftly assessed the threat. Three assailants. Her grip tightened on the sword's hilt.

The inquisitors were formidable foes. Even with the Firebringer's aid, Shier knew this would be a grueling battle. The past three days of relentless conflict had left her weary. She considered a tactical retreat, seeking Marshal Amur's assistance.

Suddenly, the footsteps ceased. The silence was shattered by the sickening sound of something sharp piercing flesh.
    Arrows!

Shier realized the situation. An unseen archer had struck, their projectiles finding their mark. The gurgling sound of blood filled the air.

Then, a swift, brutal slice. Another inquisitor fell, their throat cut, their death cry stifled.
Someone had intervened, an assassin skilled in both archery and close combat.

Shier flung open the door, revealing a figure shrouded in a black robe engaged in a deadly dance with the remaining inquisitor.

Two bodies lay sprawled on the stone floor, their lives draining away. Before Shier could draw her sword, the black-robed figure dispatched the last inquisitor with a flourish of their dagger.

The three inquisitors lay in pools of their own blood, their lives ebbing away.
"Who... are you?" Shier asked, her sword still drawn, her eyes narrowed.

The stone courtyard, scarred by the inquisitors' final struggle, was a testament to the black-robed figure's efficiency.

    "Me? A reporter."

The figure lowered their hood, revealing a face framed by dark hair and a professional smile.

Before dispatching her, Joshua had reiterated the rules of journalism, emphasizing non-coercive interviews and building rapport.

The Dark Elf, now revealed, attempted to project an air of approachability, but the bloodstained robe and the corpses at her feet undermined her efforts.

"Reporter? Is that a title used by elves when hunting inquisitors?"

Shier, recognizing the figure's elven features, recalled the Blackwood Forest fire incident and the elven vendetta against the Heretical Tribunal.

    The intervention, therefore, seemed logical.
"I didn't expect to find elves in Frostfell, but thank you for eliminating these inquisitors.

How can I assist you?" Shier offered.

She assumed the elf had come to aid her in her quest against the inquisitors.

"Your understanding of journalism is... slightly inaccurate, but no matter. I'm here to interview you," the Dark Elf replied, relieved by Shier's apparent openness.

"Elf, I don't understand your vocabulary," Shier admitted, unfamiliar with the term "interview."

" 'Interview' isn't an elven word," the Dark Elf explained. The young prince, despite her three years in Frostfell, was still largely ignorant of Norland's cultural developments.

"Have you heard the Voice of Norland?"
Joshua had informed the Dark Elf that Shier possessed a magic net client and a leaf from the World Tree.

"The Voice of Norland? A magic net spell... wait, you know about it?" Shier's suspicion deepened.

The Dark Elf's dark purple skin suggested she was not a native Frost Elf.

"Not only am I familiar with the magic net, but I'm also from Norland. I work for the Voice of Norland, Your Highness. Since you listen to it, which program do you enjoy?"

The Dark Elf, maintaining her professional demeanor, punctuated her question by throwing a dagger, ending the struggles of a crawling inquisitor.

Shier, now accustomed to the sight of blood, remained unfazed.

"The program featuring the Frost Elf Tylene's singing?"

Shier recognized the Dark Elf's unusual background, but she remained open to conversation.

"And have you heard the daytime news?" the Dark Elf continued.

"The program that summarizes the previous day's events in Norland?" Shier described it tentatively, and the Dark Elf nodded.

"Exactly. My role is to gather that 'valuable information.' That's what a reporter does," the Dark Elf explained.

"The people of Norland are eager to learn about your actions in Frostfell, your views on the inquisitors and Aetherion. That's why I traveled here to interview you."
