Chapter 394: temptation

Before he rested, shier came to the surroundings of the warehouse where the White Frost Deer clan stored their weapons.

This was also the place where the garrison of the fortress was stationed.

The building complex of the White Frost Deer clan could not accommodate the fortress army of close to 3,000 people, so some soldiers could only use tents to set up temporary garrisons on the battle arena outside the arsenal.

“Your Highness Shier!”

Sitting by the bonfire in the center of the camp, Marshal Amat noticed Shier and immediately stood up to bow to him.

This marshal was the general with the highest status in the Crusade Army.

He was not only the patriarch of the Ice Bear clan, one of the eight great clans of the frost country, but also led a powerful southern army.

It could be said that with Marshal Amat’s support, Shier could even raise the rebel flag and point it straight at the central imperial capital of the Frost Country.

“The elders of the white frost deer family have decided to follow your actions, Your Highness Shier.”Marshal Amut told shier something that was worth raising a cup to celebrate.

“It’s not the time to celebrate yet, Marshal Amut.”

Shier used this reason to decline Amut’s toast to her.

“St. Sauss Castle is only the first step. The haze is still spreading in our country. In the future, we will encounter even more threats…”

Before shier could finish his words, the soldiers in the camp suddenly raised their wine glasses.

“For His Highness Shier!”

“A toast to His Highness Shier!”

The atmosphere of the soldiers in the camp suddenly rose, which surprised shier. Marshal Amut also raised his wine glass to salute shier.

“You are the hero who rescued us from the hands of the judges, the person chosen by the Frost Spirit, and the successor personally appointed by His Majesty the King. From the high wall where you swore to dispel the haze of the frost country, I, Amut FLOSK, have decided to pledge my loyalty to You, Your Highness! I look forward to the day when you ascend to the throne.”

Marshal ARMT’s words were the thoughts of all the soldiers present.

Although Schier had not been in the fortress for a week, his identity and everything he had done was enough to be described as a ‘hero’!

Countless years later, the history books of the Frost Kingdom would record the actions of this great prince.

“That day will come.”

After answering all the soldiers softly, shier immediately turned around and left the camp.

..

Shier returned to the place where she was resting. She closed the door, and after confirming that there was no one in the room, she collapsed on the bed, feeling a little tired.

She buried her face in the bed and closed her eyes. It had not been easy for her to uproot the church’s influence in St. Sauss these few days.

The exhaustion of her physical and mental strength made Shiel so tired that she did not want to open her eyes.

Although Shiel’s actions so far had been smooth, she had too many things to consider next.

How to properly appease the eight great families, how to continue to build prestige in the army of the fortress, and how to hunt down the adjudicator next..

These questions made shier sit up from her bed, and then she patted her own face to forcefully raise her spirits.

Shier understood that once the crusade began, she would be under the threat of the adjudicator, and she could not let her guard down for even a moment.

She used magic to awaken the primary crystal used for illumination in the room, and dragged a long table to the center of the room.

In the luggage she carried, there was a map of the frosty country. Shier unfolded the map and took out the “Frosty country’s noble register”that Marshal Amat had given her.

This book recorded the surnames and families of more than 300 nobles in the frosty country.

These were compulsory lessons for any noble children in the frosty country.

They had to figure out who in their own country was worth befriending and how to befriend them.

Shearer, who had grown up in Nolan, had never learned these things. But for this operation to eliminate the judges, Shearer had to get the support of the nobles in the kingdom.

And the first step to getting their support was to get to know them.

When Shearer had just opened the book to the preface, she heard a very clear ding-dong sound.

The sound did not come from any corner of the room, but from the magic net.

It was the sound of a new message from the magic net.

She had to start learning now.

She kept warning herself in her heart, but two more ding-dong sounds came from the magic net, which made her waver.

One time! Just one time!

She looked at the open book in front of her, but she could not help but gently wave her hand to open the interface of the magic net.

When shier opened the text message and saw the three messages sent by the fire messenger, she had a feeling that the fatigue she had accumulated over the past few days had disappeared.

A strange excitement spread in her heart.

Shier immediately opened the three new messages sent by the fire messenger.

‘this time, it’s the third movie, ‘The Story of the Loyal Dog’, which was released in Nolan

‘The story focuses on the relationship between humans and animals.’

The third message was the document that contained the movie ‘The Loyal Dog Eight.’.

After reading the three messages, Shearer’s hand that was about to reply ‘I’m busy now, let’s talk later’froze there.

Last week, when Shearer was browsing the Spellcaster Forum, she saw many people’s posts with the name ‘movie’, so she tentatively asked the person who spread the fire.

Then, the person who transmitted the fire patiently explained the existence of the ‘movie’to shier, and even thoughtfully attached a movie called ‘The Devil is not too cold’.

As a result, shier spent two and a half hours to finish watching ‘The Devil is not too cold’without even blinking her eyes. After watching it, she spent a long time to recover from her sad mood.

For a few days after that, shier and the messenger of fire talked about the movie in their text messages, including how it was made, what happened to the main actors, and so on..

Today, the Messenger of fire sent a brand new movie to Shier.

The young prince felt that he could no longer control himself.

Shier’s reason told her that she had to learn. In order to quickly recruit other nobles of the Frost Kingdom to fight against the adjudicators in the future, she had to read the “Frost Kingdom’s noble roster”thoroughly.

However, her fingertips could not help but point at the “Download”button.

At that moment, she inexplicably thought of the hysterical accusations of the missionaries before they died. One of them was that “Prince Shier was bewitched by the devil”.

Her current mood was indeed like being bewitched by the Devil.

But soon, shier calmed down and gave the messenger, “I have time to read it in the future. I have something to do for now.”After replying, she closed the interface of the weave and looked at the book in front of her.

But her gaze did not linger on the book for long before Shearer heard an unusual sound coming from outside the door.

The spirit of frost appeared on Shearer’s shoulder at that moment, reminding Shearer that a stranger was approaching!

The remnant of the judge?

Shearer closed the book and picked up the Longsword placed by the bedside, ready for battle.

Before seeking rest, Shier made her way to the warehouse district, where the White Frost Deer family stored its formidable arsenal. This area had also been repurposed as a temporary garrison for the fortress army.

The sprawling family compound couldn't accommodate the nearly three thousand soldiers, forcing many to set up tents in the battle arena adjacent to the armory, under the watchful eyes of the stone-carved, ice-encrusted weapon silos.

    "Your Highness Shier!"

Marshal Amur, seated by a crackling bonfire at the camp's center, rose immediately, bowing deeply. The man commanded immense respect; he was not only the patriarch of the Ice Bear family, one of Frostfell's eight influential houses, but also a seasoned military leader.

With Marshal Amur's backing, Shier could conceivably raise a rebellion and march directly on Frostfell's capital. The implications hung heavy in the crisp night air.

"The elders of the White Frost Deer family have pledged their support to your actions, Your Highness Shier," Marshal Amur announced, a note of triumph in his voice.
"Celebration can wait, Marshal Amur," Shier replied, declining Amur's offered toast. The firelight flickered across her determined features. "St. Sausberg is merely the first step. The corruption spreads, a chilling blight upon our land. Greater trials await us."

Before Shier could elaborate, the soldiers, their faces illuminated by the fire's warm glow, spontaneously raised their cups.

    "For His Highness Shier!"
    "A toast to Shier!"

The camp's atmosphere surged with fervent loyalty, startling Shier. Marshal Amur, his weathered hand gripping his own cup, offered a formal salute.

"You are our savior, the hero who wrested us from the inquisitors' clutches, the Frost Spirit's chosen, and the rightful heir, as anointed by the King himself. From the ramparts where you swore to cleanse our nation, I, Amur Flosk, pledge my unwavering fealty! I eagerly await the day you ascend the throne."

Marshal Amur's words echoed the sentiments of every soldier present. Shier's brief tenure at the fortress had already cemented her status as a hero.
History, in years to come, would immortalize her deeds.

"That day will come," Shier responded softly, before turning and departing the camp.

    ...

Back in her quarters, Shier closed and secured the door, then collapsed onto the bed, exhaustion weighing heavily on her. The past few days, spent dismantling Aetherion's influence in St. Sausberg, had drained her physically and mentally.
She buried her face in the pillows, her eyelids heavy. Despite her success, a multitude of concerns plagued her.

How to navigate the delicate politics of the eight great families, how to solidify her authority within the army, and how to systematically eliminate the remaining inquisitors.

These questions compelled her to sit up, forcing herself to rally.
Shier knew that the conflict with the heretical tribunal was far from over.

    Vigilance was paramount.

She illuminated the room with a magical crystal, dragging a long table to the center. From her luggage, she retrieved a map of Frostfell and the "Frostfell Noble Register" given by Marshal Amur.

The register, a meticulously compiled list of over three hundred noble families, was essential reading for Frostfell's aristocracy.
Shier, raised in Norland, was unfamiliar with Frostfell's intricate social hierarchy. But she needed the nobles' support to combat the inquisitors.

As she opened the register, a distinct chime resonated through the room.
It was the magical network, signaling a new message.

"I must learn now," she reminded herself, but two more chimes echoed, tempting her.

"Just once," she relented, opening the network interface.

Three messages from the Firebringer awaited her, instantly dispelling her fatigue.
A surge of excitement coursed through her.

'This time, it's the third movie, "Hachi: A Dog's Tale," released in Norland.'
'The story explores the bond between humans and animals.'

The third message contained the movie file itself.

Shier hesitated, her fingers hovering over the "reply" option.

Last week, she had stumbled upon forum posts mentioning "movies" and had inquired with Firebringer.

Firebringer had patiently explained the concept and sent her "beauty and the demon"

Shier had been captivated, spending hours engrossed in the film.

    Now, a new movie beckoned.

Her reason urged her to study the noble register, but her fingers instinctively moved toward the "download" button.

A memory flashed: the dying missionaries' accusations of demonic influence.
A sense of forbidden allure washed over her.

"I'll watch it later. I have pressing matters," she messaged Firebringer, closing the interface.

    But her concentration wavered.
Suddenly, an unusual sound reached her ears.

The Frost Spirit materialized on her shoulder, warning of an approaching intruder.

    A remnant inquisitor?

Shier grabbed her longsword, bracing for a fight.
