      I was thinking the same thing. He said earlier there is no way for him to catch up to the other students but still trains everyday. Even in his own words he "trains enough to match his perseverance level." I don't understand why he even works out then if he isn't planning on being to catch up since he is obviously only concerned about buffing his weapons. It would be much more intelligent for him to create a gift that increases the gains from his workouts which would then presumably trigger his luck stat to give even better benefits. Sigh, he's too scared to make friends because he doesn't want to get attached but misses his friends and family from the real world.
