Shen Anning, a university student plagued by two decades of bad luck, finally caught a lucky break—

Only to die the day before her fortune arrived.

Maybe her resentment was just too intense, because right before death, she got bound to a wish-fulfillment system, kicking off her journey across multiple worlds.

But after meticulously selecting her, the poor system regrets it every day:

Why is my host always so unpredictable?!

Cannon fodder palace maid in the Qing court

Palace intrigue? No thanks. She clutches the son of a guaranteed-to-rise prince and snacks on drama with her besties.

Neglected stepdaughter facing emotional ab*se in the 1970s

Sent down to the countryside? Nope—she sends her s*umbag dad packing instead.

Cannon fodder peasant girl in ancient times

The suffering wife of a poor scholar? Anyone who wants him can have him!

Ex-girlfriend in a dog-blood CEO romance

Love-brained fool? Not her. Even dogs wouldn’t eat that trope.

Cannon fodder ranked ninth in the imperial court

(Details not expanded in synopsis)

Little maid from Dream of the Red Chamber

(Red Chamber-inspired arc)

Village girl cannon fodder in the 1960s

(Typical retro countryside setting)

The “legitimate eldest son” cannon fodder in ancient times

(FL presumably gender-bent or disguised)

Top-tier human furnace in a cultivation story

Used and discarded? Not happening.

Mother of a luckless “Child of Destiny” in a xianxia world

Save the world? Nah—she’d rather ascend and leave it all behind.

Unlucky princess forced to marry an ugly man under Emperor Renzong

(Historical heartache turned freedom arc?)

Beautiful widow in the 1960s

(Retro femme fatale energy)

Female protagonists are honestly a turn-off for me in cultivation novels. This isn’t about being against female leads in general—it’s about compatibility. I like steak and I like ice cream, but I don’t eat them together. They simply don’t mix.

I’ve read hundreds of cultivation novels, and from experience, this just doesn’t work. The genre feels fundamentally mismatched with how female protagonists are often written. Are we really expected to enjoy reading about a protagonist who constantly attracts the attention and romantic interest of male cultivators? The romance is awkward, forced, and completely disrupts the cultivation focus.

Tags like “love interest falls in love first” are especially egregious. They almost guarantee shallow romance and blatant pandering, effectively alienating a large portion of the male readership. At that point, the story stops being about cultivation and becomes a poorly disguised romance fantasy.

This approach severely undermines the genre and, frankly, makes the novel unreadable for its intended audience. The execution is atrocious, and the mismatch between premise and delivery is impossible to ignore.

Your critic matches your profile pic. But having tried Azarinth healer I can see why the romance usually feels awkward with FL.

Oh you have to remind me about azarinth healer i loved that shit

i wonder how is it that doing now a days. its been years since I've last read

hey I can understand the bit, what i don't like about female mc novels is if the mc start to like a guy. feels weird to me specially when its first person.

in azarinth though she never really gotten in a actual relationship right. she did a few one night stands with a few male characters but that not a problem. well i would love to see a detailed smut about those chapters.

yuri though i can deal with it but honestly i think if a matter of genre we guy are mostly in this for adventure and fantasy. so i probably okay with it if its not too focus on romance

i just dont like it if its first person and the girl is talking about how she find this boy cute and stuff

A female protagonist could work, if the xianxia writers gave a shit about writing a good female protagonist.

that would be great but i dont think most xianxia have any experience with women. haha

they're idea of romance is setup a scene with an aphrodisiac and force sex.

kidding aside, you know what novel i want. Your know the strong female mc like novels like them reincarnating to a villainess or a fake daughter or a quick transmigration. But instead i instead want a a guy to be the mc but he tries to woo this over power female character or living with being in a relationship with one

or how about a setup where you fiancee is a yuri harem protagonist and you caught her cheatin and she bribes you with sharing the bed with her lovers
