So i am guessing except Kim, Luster, Belle, Naeve, Bloodweave, Tyris and Roan, and most likely Jet, everyone else is completely dead... What a sad and useless ending for the cohort and professor, as well as the soldiers, but i guess this drives the point of how in a War, such a sacrifice will only ever be considered a 'successful' mission, while the details of what happened to the 2% of population that was unable to be evacuated, will be considered simply 'deceased'

And then, he watched as the spark of life was gradually extinguished inside them. Samara was first, and then Dorn. Belle was the last to go.

    Sunny killed them. sigh

Indeed i saw no point in these people still walking and not dispersing all over the central Antarctica, there was no point to sticking together when it was proven without a doubt that they won't be able to kill the Winter Beast. If they dispersed, winter beast would not be able to follow all of them...

He did. He's the Mc and all but I won't forgive him for this same way I can't fully forgive Cassie. They didn't need to die

Just interested to see how his character develops from here

You can't forgive sunny for not dictating other people's lives and to not be a hypocrite?

He never forced them to stay, they wanted to stay

And cassie suffered enough and her actions even saved sunny...

he never gave them any choice except, a- stay and die or b- take other people's place in the ship. Other choices such as running away from Falcon Scot and trying to find a way back, or challenging an ascended seed in the wild so that they can anchor and return via the dream realm were not even discussed. He could have very well saved at least his own cohort, after all its 5 people, pretty sure they can challenge a call for an ascended gate.

Im pretty sure that fleeing that place was not an option, or els other ppl would've done it or discussed it

Meaning that fleeing = early death

As for challenging a seed, sunny can't do it so those 4 guys would've done it by themself...
That's not his choice to make since he aint involved in it...
There was also no mention of a gateway spawning nearby so i don't know how you want them to challenge a seed of nightmare...

If author says that there are only 2 options, then there's no other option...
It's not like sunny made that choice

            They're independent individuals,
They followed their sense of duty and didn't take orders from sunny
How are you blaming someone who let others choose their fate ?

what kind of stupid first-world propoganda of 'choice' are you pushing? It's a f#cking army and Sunny is their immediate superior, do you think soldiers have a 'choice', do you think people can just go and leave the army?

A duty of a soldier isnt the same as a job

No, there exists no 'choice' and free will, leaving a post is considered 'desertion' which is a literal crime that can sentence you to prison in martial courts. Similarly, it's Sunny's responsibility and duty to look after his people. What choice they did have was to either desert the army or die with it. Even with Sunny being fine with them leaving, doesn't mean that what they would be doing would suddenly become all ok, cause Sunny doesn't own these people, and he doesn't have the authority to pardon their desertion.

one thing is is for certain, they don't know what a fallen titan is capable of..

the only thing i can blame in this are the great clans who have experience it themselves.. although it indeed said that that it took decades for them to kill one, but i think every details of this should be publish whatsoever to prevent anyone from doing something wasteful like this chap
