    Nah I like the story but this isn't about nuances, it's simply not Sunny. I expected him to tell them to attempt the nightmare seed. Or at least turn back at some point: during this chapter he understood they wouldn't make it. He always understood the power difference between him and other Awakened.

    Cannon fodder just suicided for no reason. Or rather because of Sunny's (and Jet) hypocrisy. He always knew that he will survive and escape but still let those 3 stay behind with him and never told them or other cannon fodder that he actually has no plans to just die and has 100 ways of escape. Instead of this he farmed aura pretending to be sacrificial rightful hero who stayed behind to die with others in last fight. Those 3 and even other 1000 awakened could make way more contribution on east sector and save millions but they decided to save just 1000 people on the last ship instead of themselves. But at least Jet clearly knew that they can do nothing to that titan and still let them all die. Jet killed 1000 awakened and Sunny killed 3 of his cohort for nothing and they both knew it beforehand

      It's the stupidity of humanity. They came there knowing they have a good chance of dying and that they had to stand their ground. Perhaps they have a hero complex but that doesn't change the fact they chose to stay and fight even for a drop of blood. Sunny I'd like to say is a special case and is learning what responsibility is and he remained with his comrades until they died. I would not leave the fault with Sunny as at the end of the day, every fighter made their decision and deemed it better to evacuate the refugees. That was not the most logical thing but the most human thing to do.

    People saying that it's bad character development or that it is his full fault that all of them die can't see the nuance of the situation.
    Sunny has been in a position of leadership, highly regarded AND although he can just run away and save his skin, he also has a tendency to face the enemy and at least try to fight. Sure they could have thought of another alternative like finding a seed or just getting away from Falcon Scott but in the end what made the most sense to him, as a leader and as is own self (in that moment), was to confront the winter beast with his solders. It was a kind of futile, 'heroic' last stand. But also all the more heartbreaking and traumatic for Sunny, since he FAILED. he had to abandon his 'duty' and save himself.
    The trauma is so good i am heartbroken but excited to see how this will further develop
