          are you sped? even if a gate appeared right next to them, nightmare creatures wouldnt immediately pour out and even if they did, it would be weaker ones. sunny is a master and he can easily kill those creatures even without armor. so why should we waste essence having his armor on 24/7? it deadass takes only a second to summon his armor and other memories

            You know not all nightmare gates are similar and same, right? Without obel scale to help them they wouldn't even know if a Gate has opened nearby. And you know stronger Gates CAN appear that spew out monsters far stronger than anything Sunny has ever faced right? And finally did you even pay attention when it was said that only summoning a memory requires a little bit of essence and maintaining it does not require a steady flow of essence?               sunny still has time to summon his memories you know? the initial wave are the weaker monsters. and you forget all the gates on antartica currently range from 1-3 correct? so I dont see what you mean

              "summoning a memory requires a little bit of essence and maintaining it does not require a steady flow of essence?" sunny has to maintain the enchantments for his armor to actually do something lol and doing that steadily drains his essence actually extremely fast considering he has 4 cores and still runs out of essence. its pointless to walk around with armor that wont do anything its dead weight unless the enchantments are active. plus he also wants to conceal his abilities and memories incase you forgot.
