There are atleast two inconsistencies in this chapter alone.
First and foremost, he himself has many times recited the fact that the shadows manifested by him were of ascended rank in terms of strength, enduranceand resilience yet somehow an awakened monster was able to pierce its side (most of the time higher ranking beings don't even get scratches from attacks by someone weaker)
Second he can literally shadow step out of his own shadow but for some reason he chose a faraway corner?
Third and most jarring is the nightmare creature being an awakened. In his conversation with oble in previous chapter it was clearly stated that dormant creatures formed out of dead sleepers (and it makes sense considering how in first generation no one could've defeated an awakened creature while being a sleeper) yet they just blamed it to luck here

      1. His own shadows are connected to his soul, so it is unknown whether they have the strength and strength of the ascended or not.(Wild shadows definitely possess, we know that, and we also know that Sunny is a man and without armor, the awakened abomination is quite capable of injuring him, not to mention the shadow.) 2. In order to manifest through the shadow, it must be of suitable size, perhaps this was the only suitable or nearest suitable shadow, and in he did not manifest his shadow, because he manifested it as tangible. 3. Nowhere was it said that no one in the first generation, being asleep, could defeat an awakened monster (At least, if not 1 on 1, then in a group). It was said "The majority could not" (Again, 1 on 1). And nowhere was it said that only sleeping abominations can escape through the first gate, it's just that statistically the majority of sleeping abominations escape, just like the second gate is not limited to awakened monsters. First, read more carefully, and then look for inconsistencies, otherwise you will present the author for what you missed or did not understand. You look stupid. But what he should be scolded for is that at first he had 1200+/4000 shadow fragments, and then it became 800+/4000. Apparently he decided that he had overdone it)))

I agree with you the point of the strength of his manifested shadow and his choice of teleportation point but disagree on the rank of the monster.
Sunny himself faced an awakened tyrant in his first nightmare. If he had failed, I assume that that was the monster that would have been manifested in the real world

Yes, that's why I said "atleast two inconsistencies" because I'm not so sure about the third one myself

I only have a small theory with the first one. Maybe he trapped the claw there on purpose so the monster didn't leave and attack the others, and the struggling was what caused soul damage

I was reading the whole chapter with a feeling of "This feels so.. Forced..." but couldn't put a finger on it exactly. You summed it up neatly! Also, i kinda remember something about sleepers being a gate to lowest rank monsters, but not exactly. So it's either Mandela effect or we are right lol

I'd bet on us being right because if the first wave of monsters was to be random and not exactly the same rank as the humans (which would've been sleepers at that time) then there wan no way any human could've defeated a monster made from a human and

Yeah. Also, I realized it a bit late, but also due to obel scale... Awakened monsters could only exist when awakened started appearing, so sleepers must have only beast level monsters coming through at least at the start, and I'd guess later it shouldn't have changed. (didn't touch the spoiler btw lol)

      1. I swear he said that his own manifested shadows were far more fragile than the shadows of inanimate objects in the chapter where he first got shadow manifestation.

      2. If he had shadow stepped to his own shadow then the professor would have been left defenceless for a second as he said it takes time to step through the shadows.

      3. Sunny faced an awakened tyrant in his first nightmare so that naturally would have been the rank of the nightmare creature that manifested in the real world

The reason he called his own shadows more fragile is because they are his soul? Unlike normal shadows that won’t damage him even if they’re destroyed.
