Despite this, the novel is somehow interesting, I would give it 7.5/10

For a long time I did not start reading this novel by the author, although I read his other works and liked them. But now I have finished it and I liked it, but I would like to read a separate story. Those who read it will understand

Well, it looks like this novel needs to be read in parallel with another novel where the main character is a first-class genius to maintain balance.
It's just unusual and my brain doesn't want to accept such MC. Especially when I'm reading the novel "Creating Heavenly Laws" now. It takes time to adapt.

Chapter 116 is a turning point for the MC, where he finally feels like MC.

When will he start to stand out as a true first-class genius? Will he really be in the shadow of his master until the end of the novel?

I'll give this novel a 3.9/5. There were almost never any real struggles or life and death difficulties for the main character. Pretty much more than 400 chapters are spent within virtual reality, where each virtual world/activity, although interesting, carry no danger to the ones who play them and are therefore risk free. Every time the main character has a breakthrough in real life, it is first simulated within virtual reality in case anything goes wrong...this completely eliminates all danger and makes the breakthrough that was supposed to be a life and death situation a mere formality, detracting from the fun that is leveling up. In this author's other novels, the act of a breakthrough to another cultivation level is wrought with danger and hardship. In this novel there's no such thing. Everything is smooth sailing and most events are very reasonable - everyone knows how talented the mc is and try to earn his favor, no rival factions try to assassinate him or do anything unreasonable, save for a couple of incidents. Overall, this adventure was extremely tame. Of course, it's still a well written novel and it held my interest, after all, I eat tomatoes is a professional writer. However, out of all his novels this was my least favorite. The ending was predictable: most people saw it coming, and although it justifies and explains why the mc's journey was so smooth, it did nothing to remove my dissatisfaction.
Fights are interesting and well written, and were one of the main reasons that kept me hooked...however because most fights are spent within virtual reality, it dampens the excitement since there's no real consequence from losing a fight within a fake world.
In conclusion, it's a solid novel, but not very gripping - although the quality of the writing held my interest, the story itself wasn't very exciting, hence the 3.9 score. End novel spoilers, if you haven't finished the novel, please don't read -

Great. 8.5/10. Fights are interesting, cultivation is descriptive without being overly verbose, pacing is good. The fundamentals are all there. Side characters have decent characterization, but just decent and not great. They're believable, but not particularly memorable. The ending is not great, but it's not that bad either. For a cultivation novel, that's an achievement.

Overall tone of this novel is as if you put a cultivation novel and slice-of-life novel in a blender. If you've ever been reading a cultivation novel and wondered 'What would have happened if the MC didn't offend that young master?' or 'What would have happened if the grand elder didn't covet the MC's secrets?' or any variety of that, this is for you. Instead of the standard life-and-death encounters you get in a normal cultivation novels, here it's a battle to see who gets the upper hand in the subsequent trade negotiations. It may sound odd, but it works. If you have read Martial Arts Master before and liked it, and don't mind the lack of the emphasis on romance here, I'd strongly recommend this.

Finally it ends, waiting for Webnovel to release those last few chapters was really gruelling…checking everyday to see if they released the pay wall. I wonder how much money they made from readers who couldn’t hold on and just decided to spend.

Oh well onto the actual novel, well what can I say. As expected of IET, another great novel produced. It’s a great cultivation novel, the journey the MC went through was great. All in all it was a great novel, 4.8/5 for me. If you like this novel then you should definitely check out some of IET’s other classics, and for those who like IET but haven’t read this yet, what are you waiting for?!
