    Chapter 266

Chen Qingsheng had negotiated with countless people over the years.

    Businessmen.

    Nobles.

    Researchers.

    Even high-ranking summoners.

But never before had anyone sat across from him and calmly said,

    "I want your technology."

He couldn't decide whether Bai Jingzhong was simply ignorant...

    Or frighteningly confident.

    ---

Seeing Chen Qingsheng hesitate, Su Hao frowned slightly.

    "What's the problem?"

    ---

Chen Qingsheng gave an awkward smile.

"It's not a question of whether it's difficult."

"Our core technology simply isn't something we can trade."

    ---

    Su Hao nodded.

    "Then what can you offer?"

    ---

Chen Qingsheng quickly listed the Bureau's resources.

    "Money."

    "Rare summoned beasts."

    "Advanced summoner training."

    "Mental cultivation techniques."

    "High-end detection equipment."

    "Houses."

    "Vehicles."

    He paused before coughing lightly.

    "And... beautiful women."

"...Though I suppose that last one isn't particularly useful to you yet."

    ---

    Su Hao shook his head.

    "I'm not interested."

    "What interests me..."

    "...is technology."

"The kind that isn't available on the public market."

    ---

Chen Qingsheng immediately caught the key phrase.

    "Not available on the market?"

    "So..."

"As long as it isn't public technology..."

    "Anything is acceptable?"

    ---

    "Correct."

    Su Hao nodded.

    "Any technology."

    "For every technology you provide..."

"I'll hand over one summoned beast to your Custodial Bureau."

    He smiled faintly.

"Starting with the ten summoned beasts that appeared in today's match."

    ---

    Chen Qingsheng's eyes narrowed.

    "The same ten?"

    "No substitutions?"

    ---

    "The same ten."

    ---

Chen Qingsheng extended his hand without another moment of hesitation.

    "Deal."

"I look forward to working together."

    ---

He immediately produced a metal badge.

"This is the identification emblem of the Summoned Beast Custodial Bureau."

    "From today onward..."

"You're one of our distinguished members."

    "Wherever our Bureau operates..."

"This badge grants you special privileges."

    ---

    As for technology...

As long as it wasn't their spatial control technology...

    Everything else remained negotiable.

    After all...

Compared with a few secondary technologies...

Those ten mysterious summoned beasts were far more valuable.

    ---

Su Hao accepted the badge with a smile.

    The first step had succeeded.

    Once cooperation began...

The rest would become much easier.

    Eventually...

He would quietly work his way into the Bureau's inner circles.

    ---

    Of course...

    Before that...

He still needed another summoned beast.

One compatible with the Mimic Human Sequence.

Only after evolving it into a Genesis Sovereign could his true plan begin.

    The Genesis Sovereign's ability—

    Primary Host Parasitism.

    If everything proceeded smoothly...

    The Bureau's researchers...

    Engineers...

    Managers...

Could all quietly become his people.

    ---

    The thought amused him.

    He smiled slightly.

Then politely bid farewell to Chen Qingsheng.

Both sides believed they had secured the better bargain.

    By every conventional standard...

It had been a successful negotiation.

    ---

    The next day...

It was once again Su Hao's turn to compete.

His opponent stood in the waiting area drenched in sweat.

    Even so...

    He continued encouraging himself.

    Don't panic.

    I watched all his matches.

    I analyzed every summoned beast.

As long as I build a defensive formation...

    Counterattack patiently...

    Advance step by step...

    There is still a chance.

    He understood one principle well.

In battles between summoners of similar strength...

The first person to lose confidence...

Usually lost the battle as well.

Since he had stepped onto the arena...

He had to believe he could win.

    ---

    The referee announced the start.

    Both sides summoned their beasts.

The opponent immediately formed a layered defensive formation.

    Su Hao...

    Simply pointed forward.

    His ten summoned beasts charged.

    The battle lasted...

    Ten seconds.

    The defensive formation collapsed instantly.

Before even half of his summoned beasts had acted...

The opponent slammed the surrender button.

    "I surrender!"

    ---

    The audience erupted once again.

Contestant 13661 had achieved another overwhelming victory.

    After only two matches...

Bai Jingzhong had already become one of the tournament's biggest stars.

    ---

    Returning to the hotel...

Su Hao opened the technical catalogue Chen Qingsheng had sent him.

There were hundreds of technologies listed.

    Some were ordinary.

    Some were interesting.

He selected several that caught his attention.

Then replied to Chen Qingsheng's email.

    As promised...

He would hand over several summoned beasts.

The Custodial Bureau was welcome to study them.

    Whether they discovered anything useful...

Would depend entirely on their own capabilities.

    ---

    Su Hao wasn't particularly worried.

Knowledge became valuable only when it continued evolving.

    Perhaps...

The Bureau's researchers would discover perspectives he himself had overlooked.

    If that happened...

He would happily learn from them in return.

    ---

As for whether they might eventually master his biological modification techniques...

    He cared very little.

As long as it didn't threaten his own safety...

He welcomed others learning from his work.

Knowledge that remained locked away forever...

    Created no value.

    Perhaps decades later...

If he ever returned to this world...

Its scientific civilization would have advanced even further.

    And he, in turn...

    Could learn even more.

    ---

    That evening...

    Another invitation arrived.

    This time...

    From the Summoner Association.

    Su Hao accepted without hesitation.

    ---

A young woman wearing glasses greeted him.

    After several polite exchanges...

She finally explained the Association's intentions.

    ---

    Su Hao smiled.

"I'm already a registered member of the Summoner Association."

    "I'm also an Advanced Summoner."

"I don't think there's anything else to confirm."

    ---

    The woman smiled politely.

    "This is different."

    "You should understand..."

    "Who truly appreciates your talent."

"And whose guidance you ought to follow in the future."

    ---

    Su Hao's expression remained unchanged.

    Had the Association offered technology...

    He might have considered cooperating.

    Unfortunately...

    Their tone carried unmistakable superiority.

    It irritated him.

Since his true target was the Custodial Bureau anyway...

There was little value in maintaining this conversation.

    ---

    Without another word...

He took out the Bureau badge.

Placed it gently on the table.

    Then smiled.

"I've already joined the Custodial Bureau."

    "In the future..."

    "I'll be following them."

    "If you don't believe me..."

"You may verify it with them directly."

    ---

    He calmly pocketed the badge.

    Stood up.

"I have other matters to attend to."

    "Goodbye."

    ---

    The woman blinked.

    "...?"

She hadn't even finished her prepared speech.

    The child had simply...

    Left.

    ---

    Watching the closing door...

    She frowned.

How am I supposed to explain this to Council Member Pan?

    After thinking for a moment...

She quietly made up her mind.

I'll simply report that my negotiations were progressing well...

Until the Custodial Bureau interfered first.

    ---

    Back at the hotel...

    Yashan excitedly rushed over.

    "Boss Wei!"

    "I won!"

    ---

    Su Hao smiled.

    "Betting?"

    ---

    Yashan nodded enthusiastically.

"I bet ten million on your victory."

    "The odds were even."

    "After the bookmaker's commission..."

    "I still earned nine million!"

    ---

    Su Hao laughed.

    "Good."

    "From now on..."

    "Bet everything on me."

    "It's guaranteed profit."

He paused before adding with complete seriousness,

"If my summoned beasts ever fail to win..."

"I'll simply summon you onto the battlefield."

    "You transform into Steel Armor."

    "Climb out of the ground..."

"And beat the opponent to death."

    ---

    Yashan's eyes widened.

    "Boss Wei..."

"You can use me as a summoned beast?"

    He immediately became excited.

    "Brilliant!"

    "That's absolutely foolproof!"

    ---

    A moment later, he asked,

    "Boss Wei..."

"How much does a server cost?"

    ---

    "A server?"

    Su Hao looked over.

"What do you want one for?"

    ---

    Yashan scratched his head.

"I want the best one available."

    "I'm building a dedicated network."

    "For the 'Resistor Butcher.'"

    ---

    Su Hao chuckled.

"There isn't really an upper limit."

    "The better the server..."

    "The more expensive it becomes."

    He waved his hand.

    "So..."

    "Earn more money first."

    "Keep betting on me."

    ---

    As Su Hao's reputation increased...

The betting odds naturally began falling.

    Still...

The early rounds remained highly profitable.

    ---

    "What about Sister Bai?"

    Su Hao asked.

    "Did she place a bet?"

    ---

    Yashan nodded.

    "She did."

    "But only one million."

"She was afraid of risking too much."

    ---

    Su Hao merely smiled.

    Sometimes...

The more desperately someone pursued wealth...

The harder it became to obtain.

    Those who treated money lightly...

Often found it arriving on its own.

Whether people believed that or not...

    Life frequently worked that way.

    ---

Su Hao sat before the computer.

He skimmed through the latest tournament reports.

    Nothing particularly useful appeared.

Just as he reached for the power button—

    Yashan suddenly shouted,

    "Boss Wei!"

    "Don't turn it off!"

    ---

    "Hm?"

    ---

"I learned something new these past two days."

"I figured out how to hijack social media accounts."

    "Let me try it!"

    ---

Su Hao looked at him speechlessly.

    This fellow...

He really does learn the strangest things.

Why isn't he using Eye of the World??? If not on this Chen Qingsheng, then perhaps on the summoned beast he plans to hand over. Parasitism would be more comprehensive but it doesn't hurt to try other avenues. The path he could take for this isn't limited to one.

Or am I not getting something? Does it take a considerable amount of time to anchor a consciousness into one of his black rooms? Is that why he doesn't do it as often on other people.
