Chapter 392: Meeting |
Ending the nonsensical phone call with Asaba Shinichi, Hoshino Gen swiveled his chair back to face the desk.
On the neat and beautiful desk lay a few documents and reports, along with a tablet terminal.
The current business plan of Fanxing Entertainment, detailed rosters and information of their signed artists, TKY02's itinerary reports... absolutely everything related to Fanxing Entertainment was compiled right here.
Hoshino Gen flipped through them briefly. He did not care about the artist rosters or the like; his main focus was the company's current business plan.
Scanning down the lines of text, Hoshino Gen realized that Fanxing Entertainment's sole business plan could basically be summed up in two words: throwing money.
Acquiring record companies, acquiring talent agencies, acquiring television stations...
Buying whatever they lacked. It was incredibly crude, but undeniably the most effective method.
In truth, when it came to business and how to run an entertainment company, Hoshino Gen naturally had zero experience, nor had he ever systematically studied it. His original intention was simply to follow the plans others had laid out step by step. Now that the plan was this straightforward and direct, it was even less of an issue.
After reviewing all of this, Hoshino Gen picked up the tablet terminal and opened TKY02's itinerary report.
Following that was a variety show recording in the evening.
Their schedule was certainly packed to the brim, especially with a disaster relief concert in an earthquake-stricken disaster zone of Iwate Prefecture coming up in three days.
Even Hoshino Gen could not help but sigh at how difficult it was to make a living these days. Although his sister's usual leisurely demeanor did not quite match this busy itinerary, he could not rule out the possibility that they had only just started getting busy over the last few days. Of course, Hoshino Gen leaned more toward the theory that his sister was simply addicted to skipping work.
......
Finding something to completely immerse himself in was Hoshino Gen's sole purpose for voluntarily taking on this job.
And over the past two days, he had indeed done exactly as he intended, throwing himself entirely into work. He did not return to school after the weekend ended, and he only dropped by the Antique Shop on his way to the company in the mornings to inspect the seals in the Exhibition Hall.
Naturally, quite a few people contacted him during this time. Aside from those he was acquainted with in daily life, like Shimizu Yu, asking about his current situation, why he had not returned to school, and what his disappearance was all about, there were even more business magnates who had somehow managed to get their hands on his mobile phone number.
In just these few days, Hoshino Gen had received more party invitations than in his past and present lives combined.
Shirayanagi Ayaha had also sent messages to Hoshino Gen, but they were all about trivial matters, and Hoshino Gen had not even bothered to reply.
On the third day after Hoshino Gen took charge of Fanxing Entertainment, the company launched acquisition negotiation efforts targeting their first record company.
Driven by the dual offensive of vast capital and the prestige Hoshino Gen had bafflingly gained widespread fame for in the business district over the past few days, the negotiations that began in the morning concluded by that very evening. The firm, known as Evening Wind Records, formally announced its merger into Fanxing Entertainment...
Although Fanxing Entertainment was a subsidiary company of the Fanxing Group, it was independent and flexible in its operations. Despite being established only a year ago, its management and organizational system was already quite comprehensive.
As the parachute manager, Hoshino Gen currently held the position of acting President at Fanxing Entertainment.
Right now, in the President's office, Hoshino Gen sat at his desk, using the newly installed computer to browse through the shortlist of suitable talent agencies submitted by his subordinates, along with their detailed profiles.
Though his current posture—leaning back in his chair with a lollipop dangling from his lips—and, more importantly, his youthful sixteen-year-old appearance, really did not mesh well with the title of President...
"Clack—"
The office door was suddenly pushed open. At first, Hoshino Gen thought it was Hoshino Rin or Tamamo-no-Mae again, or perhaps the two of them together. After all, they were probably the only two people in the entire company who would barge in without knocking.
However, listening to the footsteps, Hoshino Gen sensed something was off. He shifted his gaze from the computer screen to the figure walking through the door, a faint ripple of surprise appearing in his eyes.
"A-Gen~"
Still dressed in her exquisite school uniform, Shirayanagi Ayaha walked over, carrying a small cake box.
She looked at Hoshino Gen sitting at the desk, her eyes curving in a bright smile, yet her silhouette clearly overlapped with the young girl from Hoshino Gen's distant memories...
"You actually came to the company to be the President! The rumors outside were bubbling with excitement, and I didn't quite dare to believe them, but it turns out they were true!"
Meeting Hoshino Gen's gaze, Shirayanagi Ayaha casually placed the small cake box on the desk and giggled, "But even if you're busy with work, you shouldn't just ignore my messages~ You made me worry for so long."
Using a fork, she pierced the bright red strawberry on top and offered it to Hoshino Gen's lips. "Say ah—"
Hoshino Gen lowered his gaze, pausing on the strawberry for a moment before shifting his focus back to the girl's smiling, beautiful face. He did not eat the strawberry offered to him; instead, he asked in a somewhat stiff tone, "Why did you appear in my childhood memories? What did you do?"
"..." Shirayanagi Ayaha blinked. Perhaps provoked by Hoshino Gen's stiff tone, she paused briefly before puffing out her cheeks, saying petulantly, "I won't tell you if you don't eat it!"
"..." Hoshino Gen met her gaze. After a moment, he sighed softly, reached up to pluck the strawberry from the fork, and tossed it into his own mouth.
Shirayanagi Ayaha could not help but pout and mutter, "You have absolutely no sense of romance..."
Hoshino Gen looked at her quietly.
"Alright, alright—" Shirayanagi Ayaha placed the fork back on the cake, looking a bit displeased. "It's not like I actively tried to run into your memories. Why are you looking at me like that? It's very hurtful, you know!"
"..."
Seeing that Hoshino Gen remained silent without the slightest intention of comforting her, Shirayanagi Ayaha genuinely felt a bit wronged. Fortunately, she knew this was just his personality, so she took a deep breath and swallowed her grievances. Puffing up her small face, she huffed softly, "It was a woman."
"While you were facing off against Carole, a red-eyed strange woman somehow appeared right in front of me. She said something baffling, and then my vision went white. The next thing I knew, I was in a black-and-white world. Though I know now, that black-and-white world was your past memories..."
In truth, there was no need for Shirayanagi Ayaha to explain any further. The moment she mentioned a red-eyed strange woman, Hoshino Gen already knew exactly what had happened.
Bai Tong...
Interfering in the ghost hunting process, overwriting his current life's memories, appearing before Ayaha, and sending her into his childhood memories.
What... exactly was she trying to do?
Hoshino Gen quietly clenched his fists. This feeling of having his life's trajectory completely controlled by another, with even his memories being casually altered and overwritten at will, was truly maddening...
