Chapter 127: Reconstruction (1)

While having dinner, Wei Hongsi invited Yuan Zhenhui to join him at the cafeteria. After they finished and returned upstairs, Wei Hongsi briefed him in the office on the work that needed to be done next.

Although the IR1 and Project CDU tasks are closely linked to the "June 13" case, only the core members of the project teams know the work-related details; other participants are not informed. Many people simply treat this as a study on psychological stress and negative emotions.

Wei Hongsi introduced the project to Yuan Zhenhui using that same cover story. New members who join later will be handled the same way. He needs to learn enough about each newcomer before evaluating where they fit in the project and how deeply they should be involved.

Yuan Zhenhui undoubtedly has an advantage in this respect, but the process still has to be followed.

After explaining the work, Wei Hongsi emphasized once more that tonight’s diagnostic testee is a public figure, so confidentiality is required.

Yuan Zhenhui nodded in agreement and did not think much of it. He assumed that public figures must bear much more psychological pressure than ordinary people, so coming for such a test was perfectly normal.

Around 7:15, Wei Hongsi received a call from Zhang Shengyong saying they were almost there. Wei Hongsi and Yuan Zhenhui went downstairs to wait in the underground parking lot. Both the building and the eleventh-floor testing room require access cards; if he did not come down to escort them, they could not get up on their own.

Not long after, a black sedan and a white van pulled up to a parking spot near the elevator entrance.

In the black sedan were Zhang Shengyong and a female officer, both in plain clothes. They accompanied Shen Qing mainly as a courtesy; their primary purpose this time was to deliver documents to Wei Hongsi.

In the back vehicle were Tang Jinxia and Shen Qing, accompanied by a driver who stayed in the car.

When Shen Qing got out and glanced around, she saw Wei Hongsi waiting by the elevator and raised her hand to wave hello.

She wore casual sportswear with a baseball cap, a large face mask, and brown sunglasses. It wasn’t an exaggerated disguise like some celebrities wear in the tabloids, but it covered her features thoroughly.

Since Wei Hongsi already knew she would come, there was no one else who would dress like that except Shen Qing. Besides, having met her twice before, he could roughly recognize her by her build and gait.

So Wei Hongsi waved back.

Yuan Zhenhui, standing beside him, also waved. When someone greets you, not responding would be rude. He was also a little curious which public figure would take the initiative to say hello.

Wei Hongsi assumed that Yuan Zhenhui had recognized Shen Qing. Shen Qing assumed that Yuan Zhenhui had known her identity in advance, so neither found the gesture strange. When she came up to them she even said “hello” to Yuan Zhenhui.

Wei Hongsi led them into the elevator and pressed the button for the eleventh floor.

Shen Qing said, "So you work here."

Wei Hongsi replied, "Yeah, but I haven't been here long—only a little over two months."

Shen Qing asked, "Did you use those eight melodic phrases I sent you last time?"

"I did," Wei Hongsi nodded, "You really helped me a lot."

"It's nothing. If you need more, tell me and I'll record more for you," Shen Qing smiled, though no one could see her expression behind the mask.

"I actually will need more, so thanks in advance."

"No need to be formal. I have some questions I want to ask you too."

Shen Qing didn't know whether she had been infected by that so-called psychological virus, but the mere fact of going somewhere unfamiliar for testing had already given her some anxiety.

Before coming she had heard from Zhang Shengyong that the person in charge of diagnostics at Zhiwei was Wei Hongsi, which surprised her and eased a lot of her tension. Chatting with Wei Hongsi now relaxed her even more.

The others in the elevator listening to their conversation couldn't help but form different impressions.

Zhang Shengyong had learned from Wei Hongbo that Shen Qing and Wei Hongsi seemed to have a small acquaintance, which was why he had mentioned Wei Hongsi. Seeing the two of them chatting warmly, their relationship seemed more than casual.

The female officer who had accompanied Wei Hongbo to Shen Qing's apartment for questioning had been curious about the relationship between Wei’s brother and Shen Qing. Seeing them together now, the two looked like old friends.

Tang Jinxia had heard Shen Qing say that Wei Hongsi had given very good suggestions for her creative work lately. Familiar with her niece's temperament, Tang Jinxia wasn't surprised. She only hoped the young man truly had the skills to solve Shen Qing’s current troubles.

Only Yuan Zhenhui, standing awkwardly in the elevator corner, picked at his toes in embarrassment. He had misinterpreted the greeting back in the parking lot; the public figure’s greeting had not been directed at him after all.

After a few words, the elevator arrived at the eleventh floor.

Wei Hongsi led everyone into the monitoring chamber, swiped his card to enter, and first explained the procedures and precautions to Shen Qing.

As she listened, Shen Qing removed her disguising items and sat in the monitoring chair according to Wei Hongsi’s instructions.

When Yuan Zhenhui saw Shen Qing’s real face, he felt a sudden thrill, but remembering they were at work, he quickly composed himself.

Based on previous work, the CDU project team had improved and upgraded the equipment. The helmet on the chair lowers automatically to complete calibration without manual adjustment, and overall performance had been enhanced.

The content the subject watches is no longer the original videos edited merely to remove negative emotions, but a set of universal video content and procedures applicable to various forms of spiritual contamination. It can comprehensively detect all kinds of negative emotions in the subconscious and then run targeted tests according to detection feedback and identified high-risk items.

These are the CDU team's achievements to date, and they have been tested on infected subjects at Paradise Beverages with very promising results.

However, the spiritual contamination encountered at Paradise was relatively uniform, so that alone couldn't prove the universal testing method was fully effective.

After receiving a commission from Yu Zhen in the afternoon, Wei Hongsi obtained from the task force all the videos Zhou Huai had sent to Shen Qing that contained the "psychological virus." He processed them with the upgraded IR1 model and validated the results using the CMS.

Shen Qing needed to complete both modes of detection—one to increase accuracy and the other to further validate the universal approach through comparison, while also accumulating data for future optimization.

After Shen Qing was ready, Wei Hongsi asked Yuan Zhenhui to start the equipment. Following Wei's prior briefing, Yuan Zhenhui operated the devices with focused concentration, not daring to be careless.

After Shen Qing finished the first round of monitoring, Wei Hongsi said a few words to her, left Yuan Zhenhui in charge of the room, and went upstairs to perform the data analysis.

Zhang Shengyong also gave a quick instruction to the female officer who accompanied him and joined Wei Hongsi in going to the sixteenth floor.
